If they are going with Sigourney Weaver, they could be going with the secret corporation that made Nuke and was involved with Jessica Jones (and maybe Luke Cage or even DareDevil?) getting there powers.
I am guessing she is going to be more a Black Mariah style villain, someone who barks orders but isn't physically fighting them.
Yep.
Given the suggestion at the end of Luke Cage that
it seems likely to me that Weaver will be the head of some sort of research organization that was responsible for some of the Defender's powers and throwing similarly powered individuals against them.

That would make sense, and also tie her to at least two and perhaps three of the Defenders (Daredevil and Jessica, at least, and perhaps Luke as well). There isn't anyone in the comics who is tied to this, but that just means that it's wide open. There are a few MU villains who are in the 'Power Broker' arena, such as the Power Broker himself, but also June Covington, who created 'genetic plug-ins' to grant herself various powers through extensive experimentation on other (generally unwilling or unknowing) people.
I definitely prefer the idea that whoever the 'villain' is, it be someone connected to the team or to elements already introduced in the various shows (such as the Hand or Hammer tech), so having the villain connected to the various origin stories of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and perhaps Luke Cage (or even Nuke), could be a great way of tying it all together and making it more personal for most of the team.

And what, Diedre Wentworth is a moron? I mean You do remember when she took over a section of Hydra right?
Unless a moderator came through and removed some posts, I'm not aware of anyone calling Diedre Wentworth a moron. From what I've read, she's super-smart, actually.
There's a decent number of super-smart ladies these days, like Monica Rappacini (former head of AIM) or Nightshade or whomever, but my not specifically mentioning them doesn't mean I think they're morons, either.
Nor do I think that Albert Einstein, or Stephen Hawkings, or Marie Curie, or myself, all of whom I also failed to mention, are morons (although opinions may vary on the latter...).

Just finished binge-watching both seasons of Daredevil and each season of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
Without getting into spoilers, it is really neat how the three shows are interconnected across what looks like two boroughs (Hell's Kitchen and Harlem).
Enjoying all of the portrayals of the characters as well.
In the end, each season plays as a 6 1/2 hour movie. Well done.

Not only did they show a bunch of pretty lengthy clips (including one of Coleen Wing beating the ever loving crap out of some guys in a cage fight...) and do mini interviews with the cast but they also bought out Jon Berenthal and Debroah Ann Wohl and announced that they've started filming the Punisher last week.
Then after THAT another surprise, they bought out Charlie Cox, Kyrsten Ritter, Mike COulter and Finn Jones. All of the DEFENDERS together for the first time.
Then they announced who's playing their main antagonist (but NOT who the antagonist actually IS):
SIGOURNEY WEAVER.
That audience lost it's collective minds when she walked out and commenced with a chant of "HO-LY S**T!!" much to the amusement of the cast gathered on stage.
It was a good fun panel and a perfect way to end my third day at NYCC.
Didnt see this until late yesterday man. Sorry. It's been a BUSY weekend...

So I haven't watched any of the other Marvel Netflix originals yet, but I just watched the first three episodes of Luke Cage yesterday and I'm definitely a fan so far. The dialogue between the two detectives is painfully campy, but it's easily made up for by the music, fighting, story line so far, and overall positive message that it sends (though the last one is just icing for me, since I generally don't want action-themed shows/movies to have a message at all beyond good guys vs. bad guys).

Wouldn't that make Luke the slut?
Promiscuous is the word you're looking for...
It seems like some of you would like some kind of montage to summarize a full month's worth of old fashion courting before we get to see the act. I vote for Luke Cage knocking down cans at the fair with a baseball to win the girl a huge teddy bear.

they did that in black dynamite I think.

The other thing is I wonder if Luke Cage takes place AFTER the events in Civil War. Because the HammerTech (*STOP!! HAMMERTECH!!*) they were using to stop and one case actually go toe to toe with Luke made me wonder if we were seeing precursors to CapeKiller technology. I wonder if INFINITY WAR starts out with the government using modified Chitari technology to hunt down supers...
Didn't see an answer on this, canonically, Luke Cage is set just slightly before Civil War chronologically. So these bullets certainly may be showing up more in later series/movies.

Finished it tonight. I liked how Harlem's power structure was a prominent part of the story. Yes, shades, black maraiah, cottonmouth, diamondback may not have been as powerful or menacing as kilgrave or kingpin, but the fight for Harlem in cage made it so much more of a character than hells kitchen ever got from DD or JJ. The ending leaves that structure in place for continued story telling. Cage vs. black mariah and shades will shape up for another excellent fight for the soul of Harlem.
Really appreciated the cameos by charles bradley and sharon jones. The music was top notch!
On the promiscuity of Marvel characters, I think it helps to put these netflix series into context. These are not PG-13 rated stories like the films and cartoons. These are intended for an adult audience and deal with more adult themes. That said, I think the characters lead lives that make long term monogomos relationships problematic. If secrets and lies dont tear them apart, death might and does.
Misty knight's character interaction makes sense. She doesnt trust anyone but a very small circle. In fact Id say Scarfe was the only person she really trusted which is why his passing was so tough for her. She keeps people at a distance and a person like that tends to have short relationships or one night stands.
Luke is pretty on the level. He loved Reva as others pointed out and only stopped with her because she died. Hes on the run laying low not a conducive life to long term relationships. He tries to keep it going with misty but she shuts that down. Sure he flirts with night nurse but that develops over time and im sure he isnt going to want to hit it and quit it. Not his style.
To bring it back I think the netflix series are going for mature realistic theme and are not always going to have positive role model behavior depicted. Not that the behavior depicted is poor or bad either since i think its all understandable within the context of the writing. YMMV
....hope they eventually come up with a character that better suits folks desires for monogomous relationship despictions.

-I thought Hammer tech was supposed to be junk, this Hammer tech is lethal.
I think they made a bit of a mistake in IM2 by selling the "Hammer Tech is crap!" line so hard. Why should the battle between the Hammer Tech drones and Iron Man have any tension when the entire rest of the movie has pushed the line that Hammer Tech never works? And if Hammer Tech was as completely unreliable as the film presented it as, then it never would have been a viable competitor for Stark Tech...much less the government's second choice.

Luke is about this strong in the comics.
not a fan of him being that strong. I didn't like it when his strength got boosted. Much preferred him being able to haul a car several blocks, not carry a truck the same distance.

All I know is getting hit by Luke Cage isn't something I'd enjoy.
Also pretty sure his internal organs aren't lined the same way his skin is. So diseases can affect him.

Yeah, Bendis is sometimes part of the 'more super-power means better character' school of thought. Except when he isn't. (See his use of Dr. Strange, who inexplicably forgot that he used to be able to throw down with folk like Dormammu or Galactus, and was functioning slightly below Hawkeye's level, as part of the Bendis Avengers.)
On the relative up-side, at least Luke didn't arbitrarily get 'improved' from one cool super-power to the ability to wipe out entire species by saying 'No More X...'

I was kind of thinking that when they were extracting the bullet, the fact that stuff went wrong for a bit was going to count as Luke Cage's second experiment, and that the would become even tougher (like happened in the comics), rendering him immune to the Judas bullets.
Ooh, that could have made some sense, if they wanted to upgrade the character, and the boiling acid bath could still have some lingering side-effects, if they wanted to explore that in a (theoretical) second season of Luke Cage. (He could be weakened, or strengthened, or one after the other, or have some other unusual reaction.)

Yeah, I like that too.

I understand but its not like it hinted at removing the other one either it just jarred me as strange. Doesn't ruin anything for me just strange
Strange indeed. And I don't buy deadman's excuse that "they don't have to show us everything". IMO they dragged that freaggin' operation wayyyy to long in the first place, and went into a level of detail that was wayyyyy above and beyond. This whole trip upstate to that doctor basically took and entire show!!! I think they really forgot about the other bullet(s) here... and I think it's A-OK to point it out if blame is due.

I just finished it last night. Overall, I liked it and I think Colter is a great Cage. I loved all the nods to the comics and other Netflix shows. I was hit/miss on Misty as she was acting like a jerk (and stupid), but by the end of the show, I liked how they handled her, warts and all. And Cottonmouth and Mariah were almost my favs of the whole thing!

Plus the obvious power source on the back made me wonder why Cage didn't crush it.
A lot of what I find wrong with this show seems to stem from the way they wrote Luke Cage as a very low INT character. Either low INT or clinically depressed or pathologically mellow (did I miss a show where they show him suck back five joints in a row? because that's how he seems to act the entire season...)
