Thanks! I'm almost positive it's stress. Financial stress, to be exact. But it's really ruined my day.. LOL

(Guess I Should really get started on that Lighting design, shouldn't I?) ;P

That’s fun!

I just sang in a concert yesterday that featured my own choral arrangement of the Evening Prayer from Hansel and Gretel!

I may have a lead on a gaming group. Here’s hoping it doesn’t fall through! It’s been a long time.

Excellent! Good luck!

I'm glad SOMEONE is having better luck at gaming than I. Plus side is my brother took his dog home with him. So Concho is back home. YAY Concho! :) The only real down side is still having this dog that doesn't know what to do with himself some times...

Happy Tuesday all. Just dropping in to keep current. Not much to report. Still fighting the forces of chicanery and bamboozlement. DC is lovely when the cherries bloom, but the crowds! IT’S A TREE PEOPLE!!!! You’d think Elvis was in town or something

The trees in question were a gift from Japan in Ye Olde Days. They are one of the few things that the Park Service in D.C. takes meticulous care of come Hell or high water.

There are other types of cherry blossom trees - I have one in front of my townhouse - but they're not the same as these particular trees.

You should see the articles discussing how much fun they have in Japan when the trees blossom. It is a fascinating read.

In anime, much is made of watching Cherry Blossoms fall. In real life, drinking parties are held while watching the blossoms fall.

Sigh...went to the dentist today. I have to have two cavities taken care and a new crown to replace the one that broke while eating a piece of very soft candy at Christmas. Fortunately I got over my fear of dentists a long time ago. I used to be absolutely horror struck at the idea of going to one, but after all the meds they gave me to knock my butt out during my first root canal I realized that dentists were not spawns of Satan. I actually look forward to going now.

In news I wish I didn't have to report, once again my mom's 'puppy dog' peed ALL over the entrance floor... I almost lost it. But he's still alive...and I have my dog to thank for it. In the sense he reminds me "Look he's still only 1 1/2...and Mom will be back Saturday just before Midnight..."

It's really frustrating, I know. I've been there with dogs. And at that age it's not easy to house train them. But there are any number of books and online articles and blogs that might help you.

Chicanery and bamboozlement?

When did you start working at my university?!? ;P

Happy Cherry Blossom tree day,... something,... Something,... ;)

I like the cherry blossoms

I dislike tourists.

Just like I like beaches

In Early May before the tourists show up.

I like cherry blossoms. From a distance. Or preferably in pictures.

My brain likes cherry blossoms. My overactive allergic response detests them.

I think training should be someone else's job Cal. It's not like I ASKED to have another dog. I just assented to allowing another to live here.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

The university I went to had several cherry blossom trees on the quad. They smelled terrible when they bloomed, and the cherries brought on swarms of birds to s%~# all over anyone who walked under the trees. I developed an intense dislike of the trees after that.

That's also where I learned to hate geese with a passion.

Geese are ornery critters. They get eaten for good reason.

That's an odd-ball-for-sure cherry tree they have. Mine doesn't stink nor does it drop fruit. The trees in D.C. don't grow fruit either as I recall - but then, the Park Service may well ensure that they secure the fruit as fast as it matures in the wee hours of the morning, to be fair.

I think I've gained back some of the 27 lbs that I've lost since January. I don't own a bathroom scale and I can't go to the cardiac rehab fitness program at the moment to keep up with my loss or gain. But depression and chronic pain have had me eating to distract myself from those problems so I'm sure I've regained some. Not really happy about that.

Yeah I under stand that cal.
I've lost good at first, then stopped short, while my wife steadily loses. :P

And I LIKE comfort food! You know, for comfort and stuff,... ;P

LOL,

Now you sound like my mom.
She LOVES the beach, but she HATES crowds.
So when everyone leaves due to a storm on the beach, SHE is there under her beach umbrella repeating her mantra,
"I came to relax on the beach,..."

DC is a good city to be a tourist in. I’ve been working my way through the Smithsonian system every Sunday I can. There are so many different museums!

Before I developed my anxiety issues and my fear of leaving my "safe place" I had planned to go out to DC and stay with a friend and tour all the Smithsonian. It never came to pass, however.

Oh boy are there. It could take you a couple of years to see all of the ones in the District alone. Then your range takes you further afield, all within at most a half-day drive. Have fun!

Yes indeed, not sure I'd want to LIVE there, but tourist there? You bet!

I've only been to DC a couple of times in my life, (MAYBE 3?) so I've only gotten to see a couple of the museums. But they were well worth it!

I was lucky, I had a late flight out my last work trip there, so that morning I taxi'd to the Air and Space museum of course, (Because, Nerd.) And lo and behold, the STAR WARS touring exhibit was there.

I was the happy. :D

So what plans for the weekend does everyone have? We're getting together after a 3 week hiatus for our homebrew campaign setting. The players will stumble across a long abandoned Dwarven fortress. It's considered a holy sanctuary by the descendants of those who died there. The plan is to encounter a group of Dwarves there on a pilgrimage. Where it goes from there is really anyone's guess, as my group never goes the way I expect them to, no matter how hard I try to predict the possible directions.

Giantslayer tomorrow. We've been mildly awful about getting together over the winter, so we're going to have to scrape off the barnacles before we get to whacking giants, taking their stuff and animating the corpses.

We're in our quarterly break from Savage Tide and thus are back to playing Iron Gods. I think we're getting near to done with the first book or so. ST just got to Journey's End before we went on break.

My weekend will be cleaning the house Saturday so that when I drive up to Pittsburgh International Airport, I can have a clean house for my mom to come home to. Also she's apparently caught a cold. So...yay. But mostly yay for the fact I won't have to put up with her dog ALONE for much longer.

Give a shout out when you turn onto I-79 South.

I just saw that Juicy Karkass's "Punch Em in the Dick" video has only been viewed 350,778 times. Incredible how low that is for such a great song. I think I contributed the 778 myself.

Found a nearby game store that runs PFS. I think I'll drop in during their scheduled time and scope out the crowd, do some table-eavesdropping.

Wise course of action.

Most of the players in my local Game Day used to be in Tekko's RPG department.

Sadly, the only game I will be playing this weekend will be the "Can I get this done in fewer hours than I think it will take?" game.

(Tech-ing Opera-Hansel and Gretel all day Sat)

IF the answer is yes, I may try to catch a few minutes of playtime with Champions or Star Trek online. :)

Crap crap crappity crapcrap. I have one player who can't make it tonight and two more who just let me know that they may not make it because they "just don't feel up to it", but may change their minds later. I can't get a definite answer out of them. This is HIGHLY unusual for them as they're two of my most steadfast players. I would cancel the whole damned thing save I have two players coming from Memphis (a 2.5 hour trip and they're already on their way) AND it would be 2 more weeks before we could get together again because of prior commitments from the guys from Memphis. I'm pretty pissed right now because I spent a long, long time writing this game and to just alter it for a smaller number of players AND having to explain away why the other characters aren't there is going to cause the whole thing to fall apart. Normally I can cope with this sort of thing on the fly but this just sucks. I wish I could fully express how mad I am in appropriate language, but I'd get warned for profanity.

Sorry. But I had to vent and you folks lost the random die roll.

It's okay, Cal. I can take it. There wasn't as many players in my games at Tekko as I'd have liked, so I can sympathize.

I would vent about the fact my mom's dog not only peed in my brother's room while I was cleaning, but he also got loose for 30 minutes before we managed to 'sneakily' convince him to come inside....but at least it's over and I'm done having to be the only responsible adult for this dog.

Whelp, I'm off to a great start this morning. :P

My first runthrough rehearsal in a week for Tuck Everlasting, and I missed EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of my entrances for act 1. And I was in position and everything for all of them. Just,... missed them. o_O

I told the director I was just getting it out of my system. ;)

Off to go see how badly I can screw up the Opera run through this after noon. :D
