So, what are the thoughts on the cast?

Oh please no. Let's not do a Buffy theme and let's not ruin Croaker with Borenaz. How about Tom Hardy? He has Croaker's admittedly plain looks and has that "been there, done that" world-weariness so important to the Black Company.

I think this is a good opportunity for some lesser-known actors to make the parts their own. Start throwing in Borenaz, Dinklage, even Hardy, and you pull in all their baggage. I'd like to see some fresh faces with character.

I am not seeing Elisabeth Dushku as The Lady either.

I always saw Croaker as a big guy, but the sawbones. I think DB could pull it off, he has that big yet caring thing going. Who would you prefer?

As for ED as the Lady? Yeah I think she looks exactly the part. I'm pretty sure she could pull off ruthless LN/NE well. Faith was a very complex character and she managed to be more than a foil for Buffy.

I doubt any i mentioned would get involved, I'm just thinking out loud Dinklage and Tucker are too big. Borenaz has his long-running show Bones, etc.

New actors I can't speculate since I don't know them.

Totally agree on this one.

I was looking for somebody for Silent and realized that I'm not sure how old he is. Maybe that nebulous late 20's-early 40's area?

Just realized I don't have a good mental picture of Croaker, since he's the narrator and we're looking through his eyes a lot. In the first book, he's probably approaching 30, but they jump a few years and he's balding. He must be standard-issue white because he notes the black and Asian-type people as different. I guess he is a pretty big guy because he pulls off Widowmaker... hmmm.

Sorry about the knee-jerk rejection; I've never liked DB and can't picture him balding.

~just to troll Freehold DM a bit~ Joss Whedon will be writing and directing this, right?

Yeah in the first series the company only had TomTom and One Eye left from the days of their travels in more tropical climes. I'm pretty sure they were all generic Europeanish besides them. No mention of Asiatic folk until six or seven books downstream.

The balding thing will likely get tossed at any rate. TV Protagonists can't be fat or bald. Or excessively ugly.

~trolls Freehold DM some more~ And Alton Brown will be a major star in it, right?

Alton will host the after-show, presenting recipes inspired by the episode. (Also, I have no idea what you guys are talking about.)

Freehold DM "dislikes" Joss Whedon and Alton Brown. It is fun watching him wince in pain at the mere mention of those names.

Sorry, I was unclear. I know that part. He also hates Facebook. I mean the rest of it. I gather it's about some books possibly being turned into a tv show, but I have no idea what the books are. I do know who most of the actors are, though, so I guess that's something.

Unless that's the schtick like in Mike and Molly (never watched it but an example). There is also a double standard there with women held to much higher "scrutiny" in the looks department. As if these f%@&ers get to define beauty... :-(

Back from employment office...

I got proposal of (paid) internship at the local Museum Of Polish Airforces.

Starting next-next Monday.

I need to get a medical test next week, and Monday and Wednesday are Bank Holidays.

*sigh*

Six months of getting up at 6 am to be there at 7 am...

At least they will pay me a bit for that.

We'll see how will it actually go.

Interesting, what will you be doing any idea?

Mowing grass, removing trash, and "making some basic repairs that don't require special training".

Got a buddy that does maintenance in a similar vein, he has had the job for years and loves it.

Wish I'd run into Glen Cook when I lived in St Louis.

It's finally a decent day out. It actually feels like Spring. I am pretty happy that after the overnight tonight I have no more work. I'll worry about the finances later. It will be a lovely weekend to get some relaxation in

Seconded. A great series, and even the sequel series are good

Not quite there here, but we were in the high sixties, and the first really sunny day all week.

Yeah, today is bad.

Maybe I can find a Hazmat suit online. I bet it would protect me from pollen.

Just to let everyone know, I won't be on-line very much tomorrow. I have been offered, and have accepted a four hour security detail in a nearby city (Greensburg, for those familiar with SW PA) from 8 to noon. I will not be home until 2 or 3 PM.

I'd say HBO would be a match made in heaven given that by the time it's ready there'll be a ready-made audience in GOT withdrawal.

Trying to get a meager amount of sleep between the time I got home and the time I need to get ready seems to be a lost cause. So I might as well just stay up.
