Hmm, I thought the correct answer is 4?!

Wednesday went much smoother than I expected. I thought I would be out of the house at school until 1030 and off to work at 1130, but through a series of fortunate events I was home by 630 pm, and in bed by 7pm.
Tomorrow I spend another huge chunk of my savings on my car. Then I labor at both jobs to replace it.
The one nice thing about losing my hospital job is now I have somewhat of a weekend off

Gah, my plans/plots for tonight's game are getting a tad out of control. I was planning on having 2 'plots' side-by-side with overlapping stuff, but darn it if I don't have a clue how the plots play out.
Then I've realised only like 10 sessions to run this in, let alone what I'd like to happen.

Something is trying to recreate fairy tales, pretty simple - was hoping this would be a modular 'encounters' with clues leading to a BBEG. But seems fairy tales aren't way too complex. [Plus a dude stole an old fairy story book, from an antiques dealer - as the Adventure Hook]
Antiques dealer is selling Roman Coins, Boudicea's ghost wants them back/ vengeance(?) Except now I'm reading up on the local tribes of Brigantes (from Roman times) & thinking of linking it to one of the players mentioning 'UKIP/British National Party' and a power-play. It does help one PC is a roman & another's parents worshipped Roman Gods. Then I've realised only like 10 sessions to run this in, let alone what I'd like to happen.
This sounds awesome! Best of luck resolving it all.

Well it's leading me to do more research into history rather than come up with a coherent plot/ events.
Of course, the PC's are pretty cool & according to wikipedia the 9th Roman legion 'disappeared' which could be a fun link to the Immortal Roman PC...
Then again also I should post on pbp's ;) [including the one in the same setting]

What game system is that be in run in?

Hope it's OK for me to spitball campaign idea here :)
The Sesterces hold power since they were a secondary cause of Boudica's revolt, thus her spirit is disturbed by them being unearthed & wants either their power or payment/ apologies from Romans*. Beaufort wants to make alot of money from them (in last weeks session, the PC's fought to make the price £144,000), thus uses his political/ bureaucratic contacts to cut red tape. One of these is a minor grey-wizard Saraya, who upon examining them..... something to do with Boudica here - maybe possession....
So Saraya wants coins, goes to her friends in the BNP/UKIP for funds, they find out it has power as well as value. Maybe one of them (BEN) contacts the spirit of a Brigantes/Celtic general betrayed by the Romans & responsible for Yorks capture in 69AD (maybe the spirit was involved in the sacking in 108). Thus BEN is possessed, he puts up funds for Saraya to try and purchase it - however she really wants it to appease Boudicas ghost (?).
All the while Beaufort actually arranges for it to be bought by the University of York (which has it's own Roman links :P), which brings in the PC's as the buyers [since one is a Historian, one an antiques dealer that knows Beaufort, one the actual Roman]!
However BEN has his UKIP friends (trainee-soldiers from the old Brigantes town of Catterick) who'll harass the PC's and try to take the coins. With the coins they'll use them to power the spirit of rebellion & "British-ness" to fuel a new era of 'purity'.
Now I have to work this back into the Boudica link, throw in a riot at the Brigantes pub. Whilst avoiding being too anti-UKIP, and handling the players curve-balls especially from that one guy.
*This could work well with the 2 aforementioned PC's since there could be a cool 'semi-permanent haunting of one, which'd work well for a Dresden universe.

Funny, I thought the overlapping plots sounded Dresdeny. Any ideas what fairy tales you want to work with?
I introduced the Headless horseman, the dullahan of celtic myth, maybe as the bad guy.
I also started The Glass Coffin. Where I think the Princess could lead to the players finding a 'king*' to give them quests - especially if he uses the Old Beggar Test trope.I was also thinking of a bit of The Thirteenth with 2 ogres running a road-side food van & cooking people for food.
But here's where I'm getting a bit stuck. I suppose I should really use this for the "long-game", with strange occurrences with a clue that links them & eventually to a BBEG... tho' I really need to resolve BBEG a bit better.

Thoughts on the BBEG.
** spoiler omitted **
I like it, I could use that*.
My idea was that the BBEG was actually a Fey, using and recreating Fairy Tales to remind people about their existence & thus give them more power. This is also why It's arranged for the theft of a French book of Folk-Lore, it'd also put up a hefty reward to give greater media coverage... and if the PC's follow that trail it'd lead to an obvious holding company**(?) It has also crossed over using human sacrifice/blood at a stone circle - which either has fed the power of the circle to allow it to cross or powered up the abilities of the creature.
My main issue is trying to work out if/when they confront the Fey Creature to stop it from doing anything more.... or that it'd have to be Powered by a mortal hand... which thinking about it would work with the Rule of Three. That the mortal would be the highest level, the Fey (Dullahan) would be the power-house/magic & the recreations/vignettes would be the immediate dangers to solve.
*It'd also make a great false lead/ vignette for them to solve - especially with a holy knight amongst the group.
**maybe this'd have to be the mortal hand, since the Fey have little concept of money or bureaucracy.

Hey Pat-
What are those 'Thyroid affecting/hunger stopping' pills that you found?
I'd be interested in finding out more about those.
DISCLAIMER: Like anything, results will likely vary. I've tried several types of supplements before this that had no effect, but this one really seems to work with my chemistry. I have lost 11 pounds in a month while taking it. It's pricey, but no worse than most , and better than a few I've tried. This really has my hunger under control.

Ditto.
I have been gone from pbps so long that I'm not sure how to jump back in.
I go through cycles. Right now I have so much homework at the end of class that I really need to concentrate on that. I've let my players know I will likely be spotty on the postings. PbP is very forgiving.
BTW you haven't missed much in the games you play with me Treppa. Feel free to jump back In whenever.

Too many names and references for me to track fully, but the one thing I've got is Boudicea was a Celtic patriot. So you might be able to tie her to either UK nationalists, or even a group opposed to UK nationalists. Could a descendant of hers be a Welsh separatist?
Anyway, I love the complexity of what you're doing.
Please feel free to correct my history if I'm wrong. That period of history was ignored by my high school history class.

You could make the food van, a part of a larger hospitality company that has an inn. It's not really a fairy tale, but you could use the old story of the innkeeper who murders his guests.
It's too much for me. I wish you the best.

Well, my nap was interrupted, but it was in a good cause. I am back at work, attempting to finish out my last bits of coursework before the big finale.
Things Monkey needs to do:
- Finish coursework
- Continue to search Martindale.com
- Start applying to these jobs
- Update PbPs
The less sleep I get the harder it is to concentrate though..

This has been a subject over on Facebook:
possible adaption of the Black Company
I'm guardedly hopeful. It would have to be on a pay cable station. You cannot do this series justice with a PG rating. And I do love Eliza Dushku. She is attending my college ATM. Sadly I have yet to bump into her.

I'm so excited about this. One of my favorite series with one of my favorite actresses. Trying to not get all giddy fangirl about it.

I am not familiar with her but I DO love Black Company. I have always wanted to run a Black Company themed Merc PbP but don't have the bandwith for it right now...

So, what are the thoughts on the cast?
- Croaker: I'm going with David Borenaz. Keep the Buffy theme, plus I think he could pull of the merc medic well.
- Goblin: Peter Dinklage would be a fun pick. Not likely, but fun
- One Eye: Chris Tucker. He's a bit too young , but makeup is a wonderful thing, and you need a prankster to go along with Goblin.
- Silent: Ken Watanabe. I know he's not the correct ethnicity, but I could see him doing a pretty good job of it
That's all I can think of for now.
