Duh, now I have problem spelling iron curtine iron curtain!

I shall refrain from pointing fingers at the simians responsible for that.

~scratches my head~ Ok. What is the current password for work? I know it is one of the 8 x 10 ^ 23 passwords that I have used. But which one?

~grins~

Or at least it feels that way sometimes.

I think it is time to raise your "Iron Curtain" again.

Well s*!#. Sorry to hear it man.

Are you ok?

I'm OK. It's not an optimal situation, but it's not an apocalyptic one.

Crap.

Which one?

Hospital. At least it was my least-favorite job

~sighs~ I will be turning in my rental today and (if I can find it) hand over the title to my car to the insurance company. Next week (once the money has cleared) I will be looking for a car. yay.

Just spell it 'curtain'. Everyone else does ...

I know that I'm supposed to be on a "semi-vacation", but I have to say that I'm sorry for the loss of that one job. Made double-strength tea last night, which did keep me awake throughout my shift. Unfortunately, it gave me insomnia. Maybe today, I'll tone it down a little. Now, if I can only do something about this sense of lethargy. Any suggestions?

If you find a solution, let me know. I could use a way of dealing with my sleep issues as well.

Just finished mowing my yard for the first time, with my brand-new mower to boot. I ache. It's been over 15 years since I last mowed a yard. Also, I seem to have underestimated the size of the side yard. At least, it sure felt bigger then I was expecting.

hi everyone

sitting in the front door (because thats how far wifi goes) and watching the boy playing in the sandbox

sleep, what is this sleep you are talkin about ?

boy is yelling at his sand bucket for being dirty -

it is dirty because he mixed sand and water in hit, but somehow it is the buckets fault

Despite what others may say, sleep (not beer) is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

I'm almost fifty. Maybe I should start taking multivitamins?

Hi guys! Changed my mind about dropping in only on Mondays. A few posts every couple of days should be just as good. Just have to pace myself, I guess. So, at least for now, no more days of 40-70 posts. :)

That sucks. Really sorry to hear it. But when you said the boss wanted to talk to you I had a bad feeling about that.

Whoever wrote that is brilliant, in my book. Very effective use of leaving the details to the reader's imagination.

So I was looking at the job description for a local IT Manager position that looked right up my alley. A little lowball on salary, but not bad for managing a small group. Then I ran up against this: "Must be able to stand and walk 10-12 hours each day."

??????

what do they expect you to do?

Sounds like they want someone to walk around and look over people's shoulders...literally.

Isn't that what managers do? That's been my experience all too often.

Thanks John. Everything that happens can be viewed in a positive or negative light. I am attempting to focus on the positive aspects of this. I honestly didn't like a lot of the aspects of that job. Especially the restraining of patients. It goes against my grain. I think I will be happier in the long run not dealing with them.

As for tea, I find several cups of green tea and honey are very soothing when it comes to staying alert on long overnight shifts. The slight constant infusion of caffeine keeps me up and alert.

Yep. Me too DMC. Me too.

But, I had had an intimation that something was not quite right for a month or so. This just confirmed it.

Immediately! And fish oil. Gotta get those heart-healthy fats in there

Great use of the form to tell a story.

Oddly enough I started doing that this week as well and I feel much better five days in though I have revamped my whole nutrition plan so its probably a cumulative effect.

Sorry Pat. Hopefully soon with graduation you can get down to one ore two jobs at most and get some sleep.

I agree with you about looking at things positively. I got laid off from a high paying just with big bonuses 7 years ago. The job I replaced it with I have had ever since and its a much better fit with better people, better work (if there is such a thing!) and I am much happier for it.

BTW, post up for you in Vamp ;-) so there is some good news there. I took an energy drink to push my way through PbP updates tonight, 3 games down and 9 to go... :-(

I'll need another drink tomorrow to stay awake!

Yes indeed. With graduation comes a whole new opportunity for a job. I think an office position would be much more in my wheelhouse. I am hopeful there will be a law office somewhere hiring. If I cannot get things going in Massachusetts I have a standing offer from an old friend in Charlotte who is a legal staffer who told me he could set me up with a ton of interviews if I am in the mood for moving. It might be for the best. Life here on the Cape is awfully expensive and there aren't a lot of opportunities to be had.

I actually love NYC. But, once again, cost of living is an issue. Starting off as an entry-level paralegal I don't know how I could swing it.

Yeah, about 3 weeks ago I had 6 Games in mid-combat the Star Wars game had about 23 combatants too. Brutal, I just started handwaving ally NPC actions on that one.

I wish city living was more affordable. But, then again I wish living on Cape Cod was more affordable. I'm tired of paying top dollar for living in a tourist trap.

Actually I just wish living in general was more affordable.

Some city living is. Just to compare - the house my wife and I bought in Philly back in 2005 was about 55 years old and 1500 sq ft. A few months later, my brother and his wife bought a bigger (and brand new) house (over 2000 sq ft), for about $100K less.

Not that I would encourage you to move to Houston for completely selfish reasons or anything......:)

Housing is pretty cheap here in Arkansas. But there aren't a lot of jobs to be had that pay worth a damn anymore.

I feel bad while reading this, since, as a full time student, I don't have a huge amount of financial issues at the moment...

Well, much as I'd like to stay close to home for family reasons, I have this weird premonition that I'll be moving somewhere else. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts seems anything but.

Condolences on the job Pat, but I'm glad you won't have to deal with the negative aspects of that work any more. :)
