Today it was some "person" on a bike stopped in my work's driveway checking his phone. I had my turn signal on, but this pickup truck switched lanes and rear ended me. My bumper is messed up some and the covering for the tail light is broken but the car is driveable and the tail light works and the trunk opens and closes. The amusing thing is that his bumper got messed up enough to where he needs his pickup truck towed. Karma. We are in down town Savannah, GA and even at night stuff happens. We have SCAD and tourists here. Both of them do not think. You have to be careful. I got lucky and did not hit the idiot on the bike or the tree that my car just missed or the wall that my car just missed. My neck hurts some but not as much as the last time. Unfortunately this means that I will have to stay an hour later to make up the time.
~sighs~ Odds are that the insurance company will not repair my car. The blue book value is in the $2ish k and it will cost between $5 k and $6 k to fix. It could have been worse, but I will not be able to buy a new car until mid next year at earliest. ~sighs~ Oh well. Damn it. I will have to take the money that they give me and buy a used car to get me through until then. I am not looking forward to the call that I get later on today from the insurance company.

urgh, sorry for your troubles, Sharoth.

and you still had to work?
in Germnay the companies "Berufsgenossenschaft" thats the German Statutory Accident Insurance would kick in case of an accident on your way to work and back, it covers all the costs for the car and you get privilegd treatment in the hospital or at the doctor.
the Berufsgenossenschaft than would grind all its powerful weehls to get the money back from the guy tail endimg you

Hopefully, the onus for payment is on the person who hit you, and you're not considered responsible for the accident.

I hope you are able to get by until next year. That does suck.

Perhaps an advanced algorithm taking into account the various definitions of sane?

When the thickness of the shell of a wholly spherical vessel does not exceed 0.356R, or P does not exceed 0.665SE, the following formulas shall apply:

t = (PR)/(2SE - 0.2P)

or

P = (2SEt)/(R + 0.2t)

Where:

P = internal design pressure
t = minimum required shell thickness
R = inside radius of the shell
S = maximum allowable stress
E = joint efficiency

Scarab Sages

Here's one that's even easier....

W = Mw/Mda

Where:

W = humidity ratio
Mw = mass of water vapor
Mda = mass of dry air

I'm sure there's a formula somewhere, maybe used by meteorologists. This one came from ASHRAE.

I think Aberzombie is talking about water boilers. The type that produce steam at pressure.

And Taig is saying "e."

Hey, Taig. Isn't that a bit excessive? And where did you find all those digits, anyway?

The wall thickness equation I posted was from the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, covering pressure vessels.

If I wanted an equation for boilers, I'd go with either Section I (Power Boilers) or Section IV (Heating Boilers).
