Here's to hoping we really don't have to see Sasha v Charlotte again after tonight. And that Roman stays out of the Universal title picture too.

Good luck. I'm kinda of tired of looking at Kevin Owen's beard myself, but I think Sami Zayn is going loose his spine tonight.

[Comic Book Guy]Worst Cosmic Wars Ever! I will only see it three more times ... today [/Comic Book Guy]

It's one of those rare films that I acknowledge as being great, but also takes a lot of effort for me to watch, for one reason or another. I never thought I'd be putting a Star Wars film on the same list as movies like Сталкер, 13 Assassins, Léon: The Professional, and Ran. It's an oddly challenging film, which simultaneously elevates it above the subject matter and makes it a very hard sit for me. I guess in the end, it didn't quite feel to me like a Star Wars film, which was likely the director's intent in the first place.

...and with that, The night descends. Have an uneventful Monday.

I generally enjoyed everything in Eps I-III that didn't involve Anakin or Padme or Jar-Jar. Scenes containing Palpatine were all acceptable, even if Anakin was there. There were some terrific fight scenes in the "prequels".

Anakin's awfulness as a character made Palpatine's Evil Glee (TM) very relatable. Lucas did an amazing job of making the bulk of the good guys stuffy and dull, while the bad guys were interesting and really on their games. The Dark Side was appealing because the Light Side was basically a piece of white bread with a glass of water on the side for dippin'.

I know, right?

I'm not an OG Star Wars fan (I wasn't even born yet when the original trilogy came out), but my dad's a fan, and I was raised in the "fandom," so to speak. I was pretty young when Episode 1 came out, and I thought it was dope, but by the time the rest of the prequels came out, I recognized them for the subpar films that they were (the concept designs are still cool though, despite the terrible scripts and boring characters). I went into Episode 7 with the lowest expectations, and it surpassed every one of them. It's not the best film, or even the second-best, but in my opinion, it ranks right up there with some of the stuff from the original trilogy.

Hit 22,000 posts tonight :-)

If the WoTC boards were not scrubbed and the annihilated I wonder how many total I would have on both sites? I was a WoTC guy for a while before migrating here when 4th edition was released.

Wow. Hadn't checked my total for a while. I'm over 30K.

The whole WotC decision to scrub the boards was terrible IMHO. I hope that never happens here. I would likely immediately terminate my subscriptions and go sulk for a year.

I've no opinions on 4th edition, but a lot of the things I remember WotC doing in the run-up to it were baffling if you assume they wanted to keep as many of their existing customers as possible.

So I feel the need to weigh in on my Star Wars movie rankings.

~the Good movies~ (In order from best to worst)
#1 = Episode 4 A New Hope: Without this jewel there would be NO Star Wars at all.
2 = Episode 6 Return of the Jedi: I may have been a child but the climactic finish of the series was awesome. I wanted my own Ewok!
3 = Episode 5 Empire Strikes Back: Good movie but I kind of wanted an ending.
~the S0-So movies~
4 = Episode 1 The Phantom Menace: A triumphant return of Star Wars! Too bad there were plot holes and some bad decisions added by Lucas.
5 = Episode 2 Attack of the Clones: More plot holes but overall a fun watch.
6 = Episode 7 The Force Awakens: The bland and predictable JJ tribute to Episode 4.
~the Bad movie~
7 = Episode 6 Revenge of the Sith: Shouldn't a big budget film make some sense... This of course featured the murderous culmination of the WORST romance ever written in the history of movies, Characters NOT STAYING IN CHARACTER, and the end of some of the least intelligent beings in the universe (the Jedi).

Hopefully when I get to see Rogue One it won't disappoint me.

Tuesday.
Rogue One tickets are already bought.
Row G seat 15.
:D

Man. Still super dark out. Not so much as a pre-Dawn glimmer. I'll be so happy once Yule passes and the days start lengthening again...

Scarab Sages

I'll just be happy for December 2016 to be over and done. It's been a thoroughly annoying month.

Seconded.

It was freakin 32 degrees F out this morning. NOT including the wind chill.

WTF? It's Louisiana. SOUTH Louisiana. We're not even supposed to know what freezing IS. :)

(I mean, I do. I'm from Oklahoma originally, We actually have 4 seasons and everything.) ;)

The big kids were not happy that I was 'treating them like small kids' and making them bundle up. :P

Actually, I'll just be happy for 2016 to be done and over with. Don't know what it was about this year, but no matter how much 'good' we had it just never seemed to be able to conquer the bad.

I think I speak for most of us when I say,..

Good Riddance 2016! :P

And RIP Zsa Zsa Gabor. :(

AND with that, Happy Monday !!!!

Kids have 2 days of school left.
This means I have 2 days to go Christmas shopping without them. :)

Also, 2 days of peace and quiet in the house by myself,... Hmmmm,,...

May your Monday be filled with Peace and Chocolate!
(If your like me, it can be the sugar-free kind!) ;)

Thus endeth the Old Wizard's mini-blitz,...

I enjoyed Rogue One. It ranks up there with the better Star Wars movies, but there was something about it that didn't put it over the top for me. The individual components were all great, but it didn't really become greater than the sum of its parts.

Star Wars movie ranking:

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Rogue One
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Spaceballs ;)
6. Revenge of the Sith
7. Phantom Menace
10. Attack of the Clones (there was so much wrong with this movie, I couldn't even enjoy the scant couple of good things)

What about The Force Awakens?

Spaceballs is a classic. I'll give you that.

Oops. I knew I was forgetting something. Let's put Force Awakens at 3.5. :)

I honestly don't understand the motivation. I'm not an IT guy, but is it really so hard to maintain a forum? I mean, speaking of time spent there hasn't been many days in the past nine years I haven't checked on the boards , barring a few periods of personal tragedy. I'd honestly feel like a major piece of my life had been erased if the boards went belly up.

Anyone who expressed interest in my Suicide Squad game please check in at the discussion page at this link so I know you are at least still interested

Treefort People. I think I am going to run either Age of Worms, Shackled City, or Savage Tide for a small group that will include 2 (or 3) already created Godling submissions. Figured I would see if anyone here is interested in such a game and I don't want to go through a lengthy Recruitment to find just one (or two) persons/peoples. You can be a Godling or not be a Godling, up to you really.

I could go for an AoW or SCAP game. I have run Shackled City quite a bit, however.

OK sounds good! I just edited the post to mention that the PC's are Godlings, you can make one or another character as you so choose. By the 21st I will have an idea of who will be in the group and who will be selected for the originally intended recruitment of Strange Aeons.

We talking Rogue Genius Games Godling, or something else?

Not sure what a Godling is, but I'd be up for playing Shackled City, or playing through Age of Worms again.

North Carolina is looking better and better

You get used to it after awhile. The upper twenties to lower thirties projected for later this week are going to feel damn near sweltering in comparison. :-)

I've lived with it for decades. If anything I'm getting less used to it as time goes by.

I abandoned my bus. I had to seek shelter inside. Just too damn cold

By Sithis, but the Dark Brotherhood questline is intense. Am I a bad person if I think that the Dark Brotherhood questline is the best one in Skyrim?

No. No, you are not.
