Valeros weapons...

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

So...one of Valeros' abilities is to recharge a weapon instead of discarding it after playing it. It seems like most of the weapons I use say "reveal"....when those get "played/revealed" they stay in my hand. Am I missing something???

Silver Crusade

A lot of weapons you can reveal to use, but if you discard them, you get a bonus. But Valeros can recharge to get the bonus, which means he can use the improved ability at less cost. It also helps him cycle his hand/deck.

Ahhh....I was missing that point....thanks Eliandra!!!

Weapon Master Role with all the bows is particularly nasty.

Sweet...I didn't even look at that yet!!!

I often give Valeros a good longbow as soon as I can. Shock Longbow +1 is a favorite. Even before he has a role, he can use it to assist combat at other locations at the cost of a recharge.

I have played with Valeros in the past, and he seems nearly indestructible. Since he gets to automatically recharge any weapon he uses, and he gets a lot of them, how is it possible for him to die?

Is he the toughest hero to kill in Pathfinder: Runelords?

He is pretty tough. But there are things that will pick away at his deck. Enchanter will probably get him for a couple damage, even when defeated. And the Siren and Satyr aren't his friends. Barriers too can give him some damage.

So, while it might be hard to kill him, it isn't impossible.

True, and I haven't played enough to probably see all the monsters that can inflict pre conflict damage, just so far he seems tough.

Is there a character tougher then him to kill/die?

From the basic character card, probably not. His small hand size also protects him well. Sajan can be hard to kill too, since even if you are going to fail a combat check you can recharge all your blessings to not take them as damage.

Once you start getting roles, some characters have some feats that can make them hard to kill. CD Sajan even has a feat that gives him 1 extra life per scenario.

Valeros is indeed very combat worthy. However, a scenario is not only just combat, and some barriers can give him a lot of trouble.

And I'd say that RotR Sajan or S&S Damiel takes the honors for indestructability: Sajan because he has a crapload of blessings to throw and Damiel because he effectively has unlimited Cures without sacrificing turns if he packs healing potions.

Merisiel is basically impossible to kill (except for one RotR scenario), since she can just evade any encounter her hand isn't ready for. You won't win every scenario with that strategy, but you won't die.
