Advice

If you had 1 million gp for a lv 20 cavalier out to fight demons, what would you buy?

The services of a wizard

Let's try a Baker's Dozen of God Wizards.

Let the Wish Snowcone Machines commence.

A combat-trained Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Wait.

No.

Eighty Tyrannosaurus Rexes. I spend the rest of the money on:

Hireling trainers (to help coordinate)

Vials of Silversheen

Scrolls of Animal Growth

Oils of Align Weapon and/or Magic Fang

And I'm not too sure about the last four , to be quite honest. I might just go for 82.3 T-Rexes. Hey, you can never be too careful.

Wait.

No.

Instead of a cavalier, can I play another T-Rex?

I buy seventy-nine T-Rexes and use the extra thousand to buy better arms for the T-Rexes who gain my favor.

Wait. Can I make the rest of my party also play T-Rexes? I'm worried I won't have enough T-Rexes.

A +5 evil outsider-bane phase-locking weapon.

A +5 evil outsider-defiant champion armor.

A life insurnace policy.

You could always use the services of the wizard to polymorph you into a T-Rex.

Not true. Wizards can only make tiny T-Rexes. Wizards are vastly underpowered in this regard when compared with the mighty T-Rex.

Silver Crusade

How's about an awakened T rex paladin?

A ring of continuous Time Stop.

Price is 2,000 (base) * 9 (spell level) * 17 (caster level) * 4 (duration in rounds) * 1/2 (crafting price) = 612,000 gp

So you have enough time to dig up the continent below your enemies, then stack it up on top of their heads. Spend the other 388,000 gp on immortality or something. You win the action economy, period.

Oh, and remember to take the Master Craftsman feat and purchase an accelerated time Demiplane from a wizard. It'll save you a few years worth of crafting time.

A +10 equivalent weapon would be a good place to start. That is only roughly 200,000 gp.

A +5 holy axiomatic demon bane weapon would not be a bad place to start.

In all seriousness, you'll be spending copious sums of money duplicating what a wizard does naturally.

You need something to prevent the outsiders from teleporting, something to give you a fly speed, something to let you see invisible foes, something to let you bypass barriers or walls (likely teleportation of some sort), something to protect both you and your mount from horrific doom caused by Su and Sp abilities that will be coming your way, and on top of that you need a powerful weapon and staple items to boost your saves/AC/attributes. 1 million gold pieces doesn't go as far as you think when you have that many bases to cover.

Promise to donate it to the church. In return, get a crusade full of high-level Paladins to come help you kill demons. Follow through on your commitment and stomp all over every demon in your way.

Assume the DM isn't terribly smart.

1 000 000 gp should be able to buy you a smarter gm.

Well, see, gold pieces are fictional money.

While it doesn't help with going out and fighting the demons in battle, I do know of a sure fire way of making a defensible position against demons.

Make a grand hall that is half flooded with holy water. The stuff is like acid to them. It is like saying "we have to go out and fight the castle of acid pits, where the acid immune monsters live". Oh- also buy rubber boots, since it does carry the slight risk of pneumonia from being in water all day.

Also, include low ceilings or cold iron barbed wire in the upper part of the room to prevent flying.

Overall- it can take care of the fact that demons can teleport by simply making the place into somewhere that it would be stupid to teleport. It works against invisibility and disguises as well (maybe make people go through a small water fountain to get a The Thing like scene).

These simple materials are insanely effective when you can just throw enough money around. Hard to use them effectively in battle past a certain point, but when you are making the entire environment hostile to them...well, does anyone remember the cold iron thorns in Maleficient?

+5 adamantine impact mighty cleaving Holy Evil outsider bane Lance
both +6 to all three stats items
+5 Armor and Shield
+5 barding
all your basic +5s

Armors have their own version of Bane, Defiant. Champion could also work for Cavalier.

Determination is basically Auto-Life. Looks like a steal for 30k.

Take leadership for a wizard cohort. Use the money to deck out both of you.

You could hire wizards to summon some more t-rexes. Don't know what you're planning on doing there..

This changes everything. Get a commoner railgun.

Hookers and Blow.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

how much in the way of custom items are possible?

Is 3.5 stuff accessible? You guys might really hate being introduced to SIMPLE gear.

Well, you could certainly use that as a bartering tool with powerful mercenaries adn the like.

Since you are getting a bulk deal (since we are talking about 1,000,000 gp worth of hookers and blow), I would imagine you might actually be able to stretch your funds a bit due to discounts.

10 000 cold iron pellet bombs?

That should about do it.

100 million copper pieces. You could use them to build a fort!
