Advice

The Dracolisk
- Part gold and umbral dragon
- construct parts to make them move faster, be stronger
- Has to consume magic and souls to survive
- Bottom half of a spider
- Created by Fumeiyoshi, urgothoa, asmodues, Pharasma, Dahak, Tiamat, and all the four horseman
- Those gods are in their pantheon
- Part daemon
I need their history

Are you trying to make this a player race? Because that sounds ridiculous. If your just trying to make a race for you setting and they will be NPCs/enemies then I think you're fine.

Also, I think you need to remove some of your requirements, because you've just got too much going on.

As well, Pharasma probably would not have participated in the creation of this race with these otherwise all very evil gods. She's neutral, and race creation isn't her thing. She's very hands off with the mortal world for the most part.

If anything, you should probably have 1 deity be their patron. And I'm going to suggest Lamashtu. Why Lamashtu? She is the mother of monsters.

You could have the story be that she found a group of dragons that did something to offend them so she cursed them to lose their wings, to grow a lower body of a spider, and have an insatiable need to consume the magical essence of other beings (including other members of their own race making them insanely mistrustful of anyone, so they are normally solitary).

Keep in mind individuals would be perfectly capable of worshipping any deity they wanted, but Lamashtu could be the one who specifically made them the way they are now.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

You could also find some rules for grafting mechanical parts onto their bodies (I don't think paizo has any such rules).

They racial reason they could be doing this could be something like in shadow run. In shadow run augments lessen your essence, your connection to the magical world.

For this race, it could be that the augments reduce their need and desire to consume magical energy (including souls) allowing them to go longer without needing to consume it. This would be tempered by reductions in whatever innate magical powers they have.

If this is a non-PC race I strongly suggest you give them an ability like:
Consume Soul - When a member of this race using this ability as a full round action which provokes attacks of opportunities within one round of a creature dying they can attempt to consume the soul before it departs. Doing so grants the consumer any magical abilities (spellcasting and SLA) for 24 hours as if the spell slot of SLA had not been expended. After 24 hours, the consumer gains 1 effective level of spell casting in the class of the soul consumed (if it had spell casting). This does not grant any other class benefits. The soul consumed must be of a higher level than the current effective class level of the creature consuming.

A soul consumed in this way is not destroyed, but has been sickeningly twisted and grafted onto the soul of consumer. The only way to revive, resurrect, or otherwise return the person to life is to kill the consumer which sets the soul free.

As a GM, I am instantly wary when a player says "These people - who basically all hate each other - cooperated to make my super powerful evil character, and none of them are so much as trying to one-up the others in controlling them".

I tried building this as either a custom monstrous race or a full-on creature. It's... a lot. So, play a drider. Add flight and the half-construct traits. Say you're shaped like a dragon on the top half, with coloring in whatever split or pattern you choose. Add a half fire/half negative energy breath weapon. Daemon subtype, maybe their usual elemental resistance.

And then say your birth was a total accident from when the gods were fighting somewhere and their energies leaked out to infuse your egg (maybe Tiamat was carrying it?), creating a literal monstrosity that Mommy Lamashtu nurtured and sent to the Material Plane in the hopes of it growing and wreaking havoc.

Had a shadowrun style campaign where I allowed players to use this.
