I'm working on a gnome cleric that will focus on necromancy spells. I want him to be neutral and channel negative energy. He's more of a hermit and selfish then evil. He has no desire to destroy anything or anyone who doesn't bother him, but has gained a begrudging bond toward a local aspiring hero who saved him in a pinch.
anywho, i was wondering if anyone had an idea of what deity fits this character well. Appropriate domains would be nice but not as important. I feel weird picking an evil god since not following the god's creed can lead to losing powers, and if he's out killing some powerful lich (though it would be for purely selfish reasons) it seems like that could cause problems (though maybe I'm over thinking it?) I guess I'm looking for a God that perpetuates selfishness then pure evil. I dunno.
Any suggestions are welcomed! Thank you.

Urgathoa. Your character is not an antipaladin, so you are free to not be a paragon of your deity, though you should follow the code. As for Urgathoa's code, I think it's basically "be greedy, make undead things". There is no provision about leaving undead enemies alive. Actually, I don't think any deity has a provision about leaving undead enemies alive or pseudo-alive. For good people, undead are unholy abominations. For neutral people, they're threats. For evil, they're competition. I don't see any moral conflict.
Urgathoa grants the Death, Evil, Magic, Strength, and War domains.

Norgorber is secretive enough that he could be masking any agenda.
And he doesn't get much play, so you've lots of room to customize.

Have you considered the Neutral gods ?
Depending on his outlook on life and death (and undeath), he could worship Irori, Gorum, Nethys, Gozreh, Calistria, even Pharasma.
Pharasma has an ... opinion about undead. It's not good. I don't imagine Gorum thinking much about hiding behind unliving flesh, either. He's Our Lord in Iron, not Our Lord in Rotted Flesh and Bone. Irori may have concerns, too. And Gorum and Irori are on the C and L side of neutral, so you'd be pushed in those directions a little.
Overall, I'd lean towards Nethys ('hey, magic's magic') or an ideal.
