Giant mecha and other anime fun

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Any ideas for giant pieces of armor, or heroes piloting giant golems? Was just teasing with an idea for a mythic game. I'm sure someone has asked this before.

Probably BESM d20, if you can get your hands on a copy.

It's not balanced in the slightest, but it's fun for a silly game.

I was thinking for Pathfinder. It seemed pretty epic to pilot around in a giant golem. Something like the first boss fight in God of War 2.

POWERED ARMOR

Technological Artifact
Slot armor
Type Heavy; Weight 50 lbs.; AC +10; Max Dex +4; Penalty -2; Spell Failure 60%; Speed (30 ft.) see text; Speed (20 ft.) see text; Capacity 100; Usage see text

Powered armor represents the pinnacle of personal armor—a suit crafted of multiple skymetals and other materials designed to augment the wearer in numerous ways. The armor actually boosts land speed when worn, granting a +10 foot enhancement bonus to the wearer's speed. While worn, powered armor also grants a +6 enhancement bonus to Strength and Dexterity. Powered armor protects against energy and the environment as if it were a spacesuit. Powered armor has hardness 20 and 300 hit points. Powered armor is fitted with numerous small booster jets that grant the wearer a fly speed of 60 feet (with average maneuverability) in areas of no gravity and 20 feet (with poor maneuverability) in gravity.
As a standard action, the wearer may activate the armor's self-repair system. The armor consumes a single charge and repairs 2d6 points of damage. Only 1 charge can be consumed per turn for this effect.

In addition, the following technological wonders are integrated into a suit of powered armor—each of these devices drains power from the suit's charges as appropriate when they are activated and used.

•Camera in the helmet.
•Commset in the helmet.
•Fire extinguisher mounted on the left wrist.
•Flashlight mounted on the helmet.
•Gloves that can function as grippers.
•Laser pistol mounted on the right forearm that leaves the hand free. Firing this laser pistol is always considered an off-hand attack, and the number of times it can be fired cannot be increased by feats like Improved Two Weapon Fighting.
•Magboots.
•Three medlances. Each medlance can be loaded with a single potion or pharmaceutical; activating an integrated medlance is an immediate action.
•Power receiver.
•Prismatic force field located on hips; activating this force field is a swift action.
•Radiation detector on the right wrist.
•Custom veemods in the visor grant a +10 bonus on Perception checks, low light vision, darkvision up to 120 feet, and all-around vision.

Rumors persist of variant forms of powered armor, including suits sized for giants or that can function as vehicles for multiple creatures.

That's pretty cool.

Giant steam-powered robot. Uses the vehicle rules. Not actually very good, since by the time you can afford it appropriate level opponents can wreck it. AC 6 hardness 10 320 HP.

PFRPG: Construct Armor and Synthesist
3PP: DSP's Aegis class, might be something in Necrotech and the new book being worked on Interface(? I think it is called), that is kinda like cyberpunk for PFRPG from the skim over.

Short of that, lots of house rules

Having a giant machination about the size of a van, or a house is likely just not something available without a mountain of homebrewed rules. The mechaarmor is pretty nifty, I'll admit that. But driving a giant golem to fight gigantic monsters is exciting and fairly epic.

I cant remember the name of it at the moment, but I know there is a setting that has several massive monsters in it that are more or less Godzilla monsters. I believe there is also a massive mech that is made to fight said monsters?

You're right! It's called Iron Kingdoms! I only know it by name and reputation.

Scarab Sages

You should look at a specific PFS scenario for inspiration on this. It was epic.

Spoiler:
2-02: Before the Dawn—Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge

The final battle has you piloting a Giant Iron Golem against a Four-armed King Kong

I was actually thinking of Rite Publishing's Kaiju Codex, apparently. It has something called the Iron Knight in it, that from the description of the pdf, is a multi pilot mech to battle the monsters. I know nothing about Iron Kingdoms, sadly.

That sounds like what I'm wanting. Maybe recreating the wheel isn't needed.

What about a Summoner Synthesist. In our Runelords game, The summoner looks like Iron Giant. He could just as easily have chosen an anime theme.

The Exchange

That's exactly what I was going for in this thread, albeit, its more gnomish steampunk than mecha. It runs on a 10th level Animist (shaman archetype)'s ability called Dominate Spirit (Sp), but any ally with animate object, possess object or object possession could certainly give it a spin as well.

Since that posting, I've updated plans to have the armor be a large vented, consecrated, non-humanoid, fire-forged full-plate armor. 10,150 gp Then I add some masterwork tools like "Drop Absorbers, Enhanced Targeting system, Externally-Mounted Retrieval/Ejection-Seat Arm Rail (EMRESAR for short), Fireman-style Entry Guide Poles, Juke Handle, O.S. Bars, Faux-Fleshy Fixtures, Padded Interior, Peddle-driven Flywheels, and a Play Lists"
