OK, just got the new Occult book and I am trying to make an Earth kineticists. I understand I get the blast power for free when I choose my element, I also get an infusion correct? If so do I pick any that are level appropriate or do I have to pick one that is listed under the element I choose? I have searched through the threads but can't find an answer and almost all threads are from the play test time not many are since the books release.

Actually I have a question about the burn feature is it when you use an ability that causes the burn damage or is you can take a point of burn to boost your blasts?
You spend burn on blasts, but generally, not to up the damage (although that might result from it), but to add spell like effects
You can do things like:
Doe AoE, cause a hit target to get some condition (entangled is a decent low level one), do a maneuver, etc. etc.
Except for metakinesis (which lets you add a few select metamagics for a cost in burn), your damage stays fairly much the same. It is just the extra stuff you can do with burn that changes.

As an example:
Lets say at level 1 your Geokineticist took Pushing Infusion as their first level infusion. This is a Substance Infusion, so it can't be combined with another Substance Infusion, but they don't have any other so thats ok.
Using a basic blast costs 0 burn and can be used all day long. Putting Pushing onto the basic blast makes it cost 1 burn (you can voluntarily increase this to make pushing more effective, but lets ignore that). After using a basic blast with pushing infusion as a standard action, your character takes 1 burn.
However, you can use the Gather Power ability to reduce this cost. By spending your move action gathering power, you reduce the cost of any burn that turn by 1. So if you Gather Power as a move, then use the Pushing Infused basic blast as a standard action, you use 0 total burn.

The Blighted Defiler archetype from Ultimate Wilderness sorta works for an undead kineticist (and is thematic). You're worse off because you can't take burn, but you still add "number of uses of steal power" to your elemental overflow. I assume this is for an NPC, so "being the best you can be" doesn't really matter.
