Build path for Ifrit Mysterius Stranger / Piccaroon / Slueth [PFS}

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I am planning on building my Ifrit PC finally.

I am taking a single level of Mysterious stranger to get charisma to gun damage, gunsmithing, and a Charisma Grit Pool.

I am taking 3 levels of Picaroon to get two weapon (sword and pistol) fighting, a charisma based Panache pool, and quick clear.

I am taking a single level of Sleuth to get a charisma based luck pool, and inspiration.

That gets me up through level 5, by which point I should have a charisma of 20, giving me a grit/panache/luck pool of 15, which refreshes every time I crit, or roll a 6 on inspiration.

What I don't know is where I should go from there. Continue up swashbuckler for weapon training and deeds? Continue up investigator to level 5 to get expanded / underworkd inspiration and amazing inspiration (recharge grit/panache/luck anytime I roll 6 or higher on 1d8 inspiration die and free inspiration on 5 more skills is kind of an invitation to rediculous ammounts of panache for deeds.)

Sugguestions?

Paladin. ^_^

Maybe I will just give him the banner "have gun, will travel" :)

More seriously, I don't really want to play a paladin's code in PFS, and with season 6 there are a lot more non evil opponents.

I am considering Alkenstar Shieldmarshall, just for the shear awesome flavor, and also because I have never seen anyone do it. (But if I do this I need to track down or make a badge to wear to the table.)

The Exchange

I had a similar concept, but replacing rapier for guns, and using a Kitsune since I don't have an Ifrit boon.

First level = Swashbuckler Inspired Blade for Cha + Int to panache, and the free Weapon Finesse and Weapon Focus which allows for Fencing Grace at first level. This combo provides Dex to attack and damage right from the start.

Then as Flite wrote:

My plan from there was to go back into Swashbuckler to get Rapier Training at 5th for the free Improved Crit, then back into Sleuth for the inspiration boosts as FLite mentioned.

All the time abusing the heck out of a Swordmaster's Flair Blue Scarf.

And when I did plan out a gunslinger previously, I really really wanted to go into Shieldmarshalll, too. Never got around to actually building him tho....

One advantage of shield marshall, is if I get to level 5, and then take shield marshall the rest of the way, is that when I hit level 12, I can play warden of the reborn forge as my retirement arc, and play a level 7 shield marshall *in* alkenstar, which would be neat.

Dang. As FLite pointed out on the ACG Errata thread, these builds are likely no longer worthwhile. Certainly mine with the dip into Sleuth, but I think the intent of the errata is to eliminate getting points from the same ability score multiple times into the same pool. So one could still have grit from wisdom plus panache from Cha in the combined pool. But I think RAI is to prevent the builds we proposed above completely.

well, I am debating keeping the dip into sleuth, just to get the extra recharge options. But yes, way less benefit.
