Another question. I already pledged at the Legendary Hero level, but I was wondering whether by adding the Interplanetary Graffiti and lights, camera, action add ons I could use the former to name a random planet and the later to sponsor the appearance of a creature related to said planet. I want to do it as a gift for the GM who will run the adventure for us. thanks.

New page, so new link to the Legendary Planet Adventure Path Kickstarter!

Say what you like, but Sean K Reynolds is pretty much a god at God Articles. Very much looking forward to seeing what his mind produces for this.

Just got in the last three holy symbol illos. They all look pretty cool. We'll see if we need a few last-minute tweaks, but that looks like another box checked off on my nigh-infinite to-do list. :)

Congratulations you all - Great job!

Who's Stanford Pines?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I suspect it's a "what" or a "where".

First thoughts on the deity symbols (through the use of Power Word: Pun) -

Cats eyes
Jenga, old style
Is it two feet or an alien head? Can you see both at once?
Bad case of indigestion
Helps grow your bones
The United Federation of Planets
Paint brush
Alas, poor Yorrick
High 5!
Whatevah.
Spike
Ellie-mental
I'm a lumberjack
Birdy!
Diamonds are forever
Put a coin in the slot for four-star service
I wanna hold your hand.

I think if you look again, it should be High 6...

We are closing in on MORE MONSTERS, unlocking an additional bestiary section for The Depths of Desperation, and we are just 12 backers away from free Player's Guide for everyone!

In other good news, the 5th Edition version of The Assimilation Strain is at the printers and will definitely be ready and available at GenCon, booth 2639!

More exciting news to come this weekend. Let's have a terrific final 10 days!

He has six-fingered hands.

And he used them as the cover art on his journals that drive the series plot: gold six-fingered hand symbols.

Yup. That's the tipping point to make me boost my pledge a bit.
Hardcover and 2 softcovers shall be mine.

I have backed only four Kickstarter, and they were all just one pledge amount, no addons that interested me, so I never checked on how to do that. Two funded and completed, and the other two (this being one of them) funded but are still open, so I am at 100%. (Yea me!)

For this Kickstarter, I backed at: Planetary Hero (Pathfinder): PDF of every adventure funded and all bonus material plus PDF compilation and magnificent hardback book.

Couple of questions, as I have not done this before:

1. How do I add the softcover for the prequel and 1st adventure to my pledge?
2. Can I "pre-purchase" a softcover (PoD, right?) for the rest of the adventures?

Does the money for 1 and 2 add to the "pledged amount" for the Kickstarter?

-- david

edit: Non money question... Assuming six more backers and we get a players guide, are there going to be traits in it, and if yes, can I copy the text and give that to my players (almost certainly an online PbP here at Paizo).

And now.. 300 backers.

Huzzah! Don't stop now, pledge, pledge, pledge, =)

Grand Lodge

Papa-DRB, just make sure you pledge enough money to cover any add-ons you want. After the Kickstarter closes, you should be sent a survey to choose your add-ons.

At least, that is how other Kickstarters have worked for me in the past, and how I contributed. Hopefully, one of the Legendary Gurus can correct me if I'm mistaken.

Scarab Sages

Just pledged an hour or so ago, so I might have been the 300th! Round numbers are deeply exciting. Looking forward to getting the hardcover of this one.

If you go to your Backed Projects tab, you can see which backer number you are.

Incidentally, I'm backer #3. Having literally a hundred times my number in people backing a campaign is neat. ^^~

And we made it to 40,000!

WAITAMINNIT!!!!

If we get much farther, we unleash Hitchcock on his own planet!!!

BY ALL THAT'S HOLY, STOP!!!

Or don't, and pass the insanity on to your players.

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

Not just a planet, but a gas giant with many moons--each one it's own little special Hitchcock-ian nightmare. The adventure is titled Mind Tyrants of the Merciless Moons after all. If that's not a sword-and-planet inspired name, I don't know what is...and Tim is very well grounded in the genre. I'm really looking forward to seeing his chapter fund and what he comes up with.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4; Contributor; Publisher, Legendary Games

I have to confess that Mind Tyrants of the Merciless Moons, less than $4000 away from unlocking now, is my very favorite title in our whole saga. It just screams pulp at you in all the best ways, and Tim definitely gets the feeling we are going for.

Thanks to everybody for their support in pushing us past 300 backers AND past $40,000 this weekend! With 8 days to go we are looking forward to a fantastic finish.

Check out the latest Kickstarter update for a quick recap!

The backer number on the backer report tells what order you are in of everyone who has backed the project at any time; however, it doesn't remove people from the list when they drop out. For example, our current most recent backer is Erich Wildgrube Iv, who list listed as backer #333 on the backer report, even though we currently have 304 backers. That just means there have been 29 backers pledge and drop at various points throughout the campaign (at least one person has pledged and dropped a couple of times). The 300th person to make a pledge was Trey, but of our current active pledges Alex Coyner was the one that made our counter hit 300.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme; we love ALL of our backers! It's just kind of fun to call out the name of the person who pushes us across the line. People enjoyed it when we did it with our mythic Kickstarter, so we decided to do it again this time around. But to each and every one, whether you pledged $5 or $500, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU for making this project such a success... and we still have 8 days to go!

Grand Lodge

I think it also renumbers when you change your pledge, as I'm now number 225 but have never dropped out.

Ok, I added $20 to my pledge. I think that gets me the soft covers of the first two (prequel and #1), right? And LG will send me a survey to confirm that, right?

It looks like I will have to do PoD separately as each one comes out, right?

As you can tell, I am not completely sure about all this.

You've got it right. We did not build in a softcover POD for everything option as our pre-project surveys indicated that the great majority of respondents preferred a single hardcover to a set of softcovers.

We did want to offer the first two softcovers as a sort of "entry level" for backers who wanted print right away, as some backers don't like to back for a higher pledge level early in a project, before they feel like enough has gotten completed to give them a good deal, and we had hoped to get both the prelude and the first adventure done in time for the end of the Kickstarter. The prelude is in the can and ready to drop, but for To Worlds Unknown it's looking like it'll be ready to go the middle of August rather than the end of July. I'm still happy with that turnaround time to start getting the adventures out to our backers, and I'd much rather have it mid-August and beautiful than rushed and not quite there.

The Kickstarter winds up next Monday evening (I think at 9:00 Eastern/6:00 Pacific), and I'm looking forward to a fast and furious finish. I think we still have an excellent chance to fully fund the last two adventures, so keep spreading the good word and let's blow this thing up in the final week!

Couple of questions~

1) In the interview with A Sword For Hire, it was mentioned "We also hope to have a first look at these core deities—as another update to the Kickstarter—in the form of a simple table detailing their alignments, portfolios, domains, favored weapons, etc." Is that still likely to happen, or should we wait for To Worlds Unknown?

2) Is there a (rough) timetable for the release of the Player's Guide?
2a) Or, failing that, are there any Campaign Traits you can tell us about? I'm currently running a PbP recruitment, and the sooner there's some word on those, the better. XD

I'm interested in these two as well, for 5E. Especially the new races and maybe some new backgrounds (sci-fantasy backgrounds geared right to this adventure would be wonderful). Even a rough draft PDF to kick off a campaign would be really helpful.

I'm not sure if they will get any treatment or not, but having a few factions for 5E tied directly to the adventure path would also be great.

Check out our latest Kickstarter update for a list of the core deities of Legendary Planet, along with their alignment and domains for Pathfinder, and Sean K Reynolds will also be providing 5th Edition analogs for the powers and portfolios of these divine beings.

The Legendary Planet Player's Guide is churning along. I've just checked in with the guys so we should have an update soon. Like the To Worlds Unknown adventure, it *might* get done before GenCon, but if I had to guess I'd say it's more likely to come out a week or two after.

I'll see what I can do about getting a preview of campaign traits to help focus characters on the AP.

Aaaaah, there we go! ^^ Now to dive into these deities - and thanks for letting me know where you're at!

Liberty's Edge

Cyshrn is already creeping me out, and all I know about them is their epithet and alignment.

Grand Lodge

Jason, I think a few more "Achieved!" stamps are in order :)

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4; Contributor; Publisher, Legendary Games

I'll have to ping Rachel about that, as when I try to add it to the graphic it deletes it. I think it must be a photoshop thing that she used to create it, as I don't have that program. I just added ACHIEVED! in bold at the end of the entry. Hopefully we can add another one today! We're getting close!

So much gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands.

Jason, I need to ask, and I get that you might not be able to, or willing to discuss this, but some discussion might not hurt. Or it might. I dunno.

Here's where I'm at; I'm in, and have been since the early days, with the projected desire of the full hardcover. I'm a sucker for massive books like Slumbering Tsar. I'm watching Kicktraq, and I'm watching Kickstarter, and stressing out. My problem is this... I get it that if we don't hit $58k then somehow you'll finish the AP. Problem is I don't want a hardcover with 85% of the content and then a second softcover/PDF/hardcover with the remaining 15%. That totally wrecks the OCD completionist in me.

I'll keep my pledge in until the last minute, but I'd like to explore what the plans are if this doesn't quite make it to "complete". I'm not afraid to spend more money, but I can't justify another six grand. <Grin>

Point is... if this almost hits $58k, is there some discussion of the whatever that completes it being available as a single entity. As in, if we hit 85% on this KS, and you run a second one later for the last 15%, will there be a way for people who pledge for both to get 100% in one single, unified, beautiful, awesome book? That's my sole concern; the physical format. Not so much the price, not so much the timing, not so much how it's funded. Just if there's a plan being brewed that allows it to happen.

Been struggling with how to put that question for weeks now without breaking anyone's confidence.

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm fairly certain Jason intends (and I'm fully committed) to still producing a single hardcover with the entire AP. It's just that it will take longer to produce (aka finance) without the full, initial funding via the Kickstarter. But we don't know yet what that picture looks like until we get there.

This time last year 25% of our backers and funding on the Mythic Mania Kickstarter came thru in the final 4 days. So, there's still plenty of time for Legendary Planet to fully meet its goals. Of course, that doesn't mean everyone can sit on their laurels and think that'll just magically happen without your active participation. By that, I mean we still need people to convince their friends and other gaming social circles to back us, too. The more networking you do, the better crowd-sourcing works.

Grand Lodge

Hmmm... I would say there is a good possibility that the next donor may trigger another announcement from Jason :)
