TEAM buffers

Advice

Hello

My group decided that we want to run a number of 1-shots where all chars are build by 1 player per session.

I want to build the ultimate team buffing party

The rules:

Each char have 1 round to buff.
Buffs must effect the entire party
No 3rd party material
Wealth by level
All chars must be the same level

So far I'm pretty sure to have:
Horizon walker (can give favored enemy bonusses to companions)
Bard (moral bonuses)

and thinking about
Paladin (auras)
Cleric (channel)

Any ideas?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

What level?

Also note that Bard's Inspire Courage only grants morale for save versus charm/fear, but competence for hit and damage. Best buffer there would be Aasimar for the favored class bonus to increase the effective level of Inspire Courage + Master Performer (+1 to effectiveness of Inspire Courage) + Grand Master Performer. Super charge that Inspire Courage. From there you can still cast a spell in the same round you begin to perform for either Haste or Good Hope. Discordant Voice is an awesome feat as well if you are going to be martial heavy but requires level 11.

I'd say go Skald as well. If this is at least level 11, go Totemic archetype for the extra strength and Greater Skald's Vigor; give rage bonuses + rage powers + massive fast healing.

Really between those two that's all the buffing you would ever need and just having martial badasses to make the most of those buffs would be the way to go. To keep with the buffing theme then perhaps a Cavalier to grant teamwork feats? Also look into a Drunken Master Qingong Sensei Monk; it has some overlap with Bard, but you could perhaps make it workable by messing with archetypes to replace Inspire Courage as Sensei gets it as well. At level 11 iirc Sensei gets the ability to use Ki powers on all within 30 ft, including the special ki powers that you can gain from Qingong. Drunken Master is there to be a Ki battery.

For Cleric look at some of the religion specific channeling feats, especially Fateful Channel. Combined with Quick Channel + Selective and you have some nice action economy buffs going on.

What level!

For the skald bit, how about a half orc skald that takes a dip into cavalier for the amplified rage teamwork feat (an extra +4 to rage's stat bonuses when adjacent or flanking with ally with this feat- total of +6).

Use the cavalier's tactician ability to give everyone the teamwork feat. Maybe take practiced tactician to get some more uses of this trick.

Are those feats legal for PFS?

It looked like they came from the book Pathfinder Chronicles: Faction Guide. The only Pathfinder Chronicles listing for PFS was potentially a general listing of all Pathfinder Chronicles that was replaced by Inner Sea Guide. I'm not knowledgeable enough on Pathfinder Chronicles to know if that was true and I didn't want to assume.

Thanks!

Holy Tactician Paladin works better than Cavalier for Skald+Amplified Rage, since it saves a round of buffing. I guess you could make two characters (say Celestial Bloodrager (for Rage and Uncanny Dodge) 2/Holy Tactician Paladin X and Skald X.)

I think maybe one Skald and a bunch of Holy Tactician Paladins with different teamwork feats would be best.

I'm not sure what you mean about Horizon Walker giving favored enemy bonuses out?

Yeah, but you need (or the song) in order to get that teamwork feat, and neither the cavalier or the holy tactician can skip that prereq.

So if you have to make a raging character anyway, might as well combo it with the skald. That gives you more real estate for different builds on the rest of the party.

And you could do both the rage song and tactician in the same round at long as you are at least skald 7/cavalier 1, since the rage song becomes a move action at that point.

I posted a thread about a bard buffer I was planning. Here's the link.

Aasimar favored class bonus is pretty awesome for inspire courage.

Silver Crusade

All their ability's stack, and 3 can use a cure light wounds wand. Any level will work. The higher you go their ability's start to multiply off each other.
Bard
Skald
Ranger (Freebooter)
Cavalier (Strategist) Edit: Tactician: Ferocious Loyalty.

No specific level...

And rage isn't a requirement unless it somehow buffs the companions as well...

It really what the rest of the party does.
- If the rest of the party are casters, Skald will not help at all.
- You need to know whether the rest of the party is melee or ranged before you pick a teamwork feat.

In general, Freebooter ranger (untyped) and Archivist bard (insight) both stack with most other buffs, so those are pretty good choices overall. Song of the People's Revolt (masterpiece) will let you pass out a teamwork feat as your bardic performance.

Your party of buffers doesn't have a Wizard? Need somebody to cast Haste.

At level 7 that's the bard. At level 4 that's a job for a summoner. The wizard isn't going to benefit from other peoples' buffs.
