Fun with Magic Wand!

Scarab Sages

Besides the Wand of Cure Light Wounds, what other type of magic wands would you suggest people to buy for themselves or their UMD using friends?

Obscuring mist seems reasonable. It is a level 1 spell, and its effect is not tied to caster level, so only its duration is affected...and it already lasts most of a fight. You can get it cheap for no problem.

Rather than having anyone prepare it in their slots, you can just keep it in a wrist mounted sheath for those moments when you need a 'ninja smoke pellet'.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

depends on your class... but some good suggestions:
- mage armor
- shield
- endure elements (always useful and cheap)
- dimension door
- divine favor (when you nee boost to attack)
- bestow grace (for those with high charisma)

Wand of Magic Missiles ensures your wizard doesn't run out of things to do and demand everyone stop the narrative for his sake.

Wand of Bless means you have it up for every combat. That's great early in your career.

Wand of Endure Elements will last you an entire campaign.

Wand of Mage Armor helps your monk for a couple of combats

Wand of Comprehend Languages will have enough charges to get you through some deciphering tasks.

I usually go with bless, mage armor, endure elements, magic missile.

mage armor is good for monks, animal companions, familiars, escort missions, or anyone who's sleeping.

I usually don't go with shield, it's a personal spell.

Since he specified UMD-using friends, a shield wand is excellent for a martial character wielding a 2H weapon. Perhaps also wand of longarm.

For 2nd level spells, wand of lesser restoration if you have the $.

Here is a good resource on it.

Grease, because even though the save is low they are flatfooted when crossing it which is "Yay!!!" for the Rogues and those with sneak attacks.

Grand Lodge

Mount...Because it can trigger traps, Provide a wall of flesh to hide behind, Can be dropped on top of peoples heads that are in a pit for some nasty damage, Oh and I guess you can ride it for 2/hours as well if the mood calls for it.
