Triggered readied actions affecting initiative order.

Rules Questions

I know most readied actions will go before what it triggered against. But I have a special question in a strange situation.

1. Pc has one action left. He opens a door.
2. Npc readied actions triggers and attacks Pc due to the door opening.

In this situation my group was arguing were the Npc goes on the initiative. Most are going with the rules saying it goes before him, effectively being aloud to go before the Pc the next time the Pc goes. But others are arguing that the Npc should go after the Pc since the opening of the door was the last action the Pc has did, since the Npc did not effectively interrupt his action.

The NPC had the readied action, and the PC had the triggering action.

The NPC goes before the PC in the initiative order. There's no exceptions to how that works.

If you were in initiative, then a fight was already going on? In which case I would say that the the NPC on the other side of the door was not in the initiative, and was delaying until he could join the fight.

Just like a team teleport, everyone else has to delay until the caster goes. Or, if the PC makes a huge perception check, and then beats the ambushers in the surprise round. He is forced to delay until the threat actually appears before he can take an offensive action against it.

my 2 coppers worth.
