This is probably not too weird. My main is a heavy armor cleric with almost all his combat XP in cleric/focus things - but I do carry a mace, with minimal XP investment, that still sees HUGE use when I'm grinding through weak mobs and don't want to wait for stamina regen.
I've probably spent an order of magnitude more XP on focus weapon stuff - but still my two weapons see roughly equal use.

The weirdest I am currently doing is my Mage, who is going Full Mage in both of his weapon slots and Implement slots.
So a Staff and a Spellbook, and then a Wand and a Spellbook. This means I am currentlyy buying all the Wand skills too, all of which seem totally underpowered(I know they cast quicker).
So why is this strange?
You must understand that I think buff-durations and buff-strengths in this game are so short and weak that I can not see a use at the moment for like 95% of the skills, feats, Utilities and so forth. And for about 100% of the Wand-skills to be honest. Mind you, these are going to cost Ammo for each cast too, soon. I also find most expandables (Spells) weak and of not much use, exept a few.
So all of my builds so far have been like Heavy armor mixed in with Energetig Field, some Heals from the Cleric tree and off course the big damage Guns like certain Staff cantrips, Bowskills and Whirling Blade (Heavy blade skill)
But I just *know* that I must be missing something here. I have a feeling that the current system of buffs and debuffs is some kind of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" thing, that will mostly shine in PvP, and where you carefully line up certain damaging combo's, like a Debuff--> synergic damage(often together with friends), or where you counter attacks with the right defenses.
I can learn that, but as I said, the current durations are completely unworkable for me, and if they stay this way, I will just keep to my non-combat activities. I also feel that the effects of most buffs are negligable, at least for now. (A lot of stuff does not work on mobs yet or is bugged so that explains some).
But I am expecting in the future that things may be tweaked, or I can level up a few skills so that their durations become workable.
And so I am stubbornly putting my XP *only* in Mage related skills, because I just know they can not be useless forever. :)
I must say that this way it was rather easy to get to 11 Personality!

Yah ... mix and match is king early on - my default low level monster hunter is pretty much Pot+2 with unbreakable 4, a +2 longbow with halfdraw 3 and overdraw 3, a +2 diminishing with energetic field, wilting surge 3 and wraith cry 3 and a holy symbol with lesser cure and endure elements.

A summoner/Druid gestalt where the GM allowed me to combine the eldilon and animal companion into one creature.
I chose a giant leach as my animal companion, used evolution points to make it fly
Imagine a leach the size of a fat 13 year old flying at your face with a 60 fly speed.
It also had tentacles, because of course it did.
Edit: oh, PFO... Nvm

Well, if we're going to talk other games too, my 3.5 Sorcerer/Fighter/Palemaster who had trained as a paladin(and failed the exam). Had a Homonculous familiar in the form of an anime devil girl and a Wisdom score low enough he was oblivious to the reactions of onlookers. He looked like the stereotyped "evil blackguard" with his bone armour and blood red sword, and habit of summoning skeletons (to clean his tent, he was lazy vs housework) but never realised how it all looked.
