Slayer / / Investigator Advice Needed

Advice

Ok so I was going to play a character in an upcoming game to chrisen our new Gaming Table. Its going to be a Gestalt game because we only have three players and we are likely going to be running Rise of the Ruin Lords AP or Possibly Curse of the Crimson Throne if not a completely original content.

So I wanted to look into playing a Slayer//Investigator.
I have some decent Stats I rolled an 18 which I am going to put into INT, 13,11,16,10,14 as the others.

I don't know much about how to best blend the two, but I heard they would work well together.
They give a d10 HD, 6+Int, All good Saves, Up to Medium Armor, All Martial Weapons and Hand Crossbow.

Investigator is very INT focused. The Studied Target and Studied Combat stack if you get Quick Study Talent (One would then use Swift and one Move actions.)

But what race is best? What feats compliment this the best?

Liberty's Edge

This is just the first idea out of many possible.

Stats: Str16+2 Dex13 Con14 In18+2 Wis11 Cha10
There are exactly 0 races that simply put both boost Str and Int. But Humans can obtain it by losing most/all other racial traits.

Then you could wield a Lucerne Hammer, pick up Combat Reflexes as the first Slayer Talent and Power Attack as the third level feat.
Aerage damage at lvl 3 would be:
1d12+Str+Power Attack = 6,5+4*1,5+2*1,5=15,5 + Sneak Attack.
And you could hit with 1 attack + 2AoOs= 3 hits = 46,5 Dmg (not Including sneak)

Though, you might want to look into a race with darkvision if you plan on sneak attacking. Your damage should be high, just keep withdrawing to let them provoke AoO as they advance (don't let them charge you).

One of the major issues with gestalt is the action economy, you can't spend a standard action doing the best of both classes at once. So with AoOs, you can still use spells and such. If you can get your hands on the "grease" spell then you should be able to have some fun with AoOs and sneak attacks.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You don't need the int that high. Put the 18 into strength and the 16 or 14 into int.
