Question about Edidolons and Summoners sharing the same slot

I'm assuming this restriction applies to all magic items with common sense. That is a summoner could wield a magic staff and the eidolon its claws or a normal sword but not a magical sword. However what about special materials? That is if the summoner is wielding a staff of the magi can the ediolon weild a mithril/cold iron sword?

Weapons are not slotted magic items.

They do need the ability to 'wield' the weapon via a feat or evolutions though.

I wasn't aware magic weapons and magic staves needed item slots to function.

Magic items on the body:
Many magic items need to be donned by a character who wants to employ them or benefit from their abilities. It's possible for a creature with a humanoid-shaped body to wear as many as 15 magic items at the same time. However, each of those items must be worn on (or over) a particular part of the body, known as a “slot.”

A humanoid-shaped body can be decked out in magic gear consisting of one item from each of the following groups, keyed to which slot on the body the item is worn.

Armor: suits of armor.
Belts: belts and girdles.
Body: robes and vestments.
Chest: mantles, shirts, and vests.
Eyes: eyes, glasses, and goggles.
Feet: boots, shoes, and slippers.
Hands: gauntlets and gloves.
Head: circlets, crowns, hats, helms, and masks.
Headband: headbands and phylacteries.
Neck: amulets, brooches, medallions, necklaces, periapts, and scarabs.
Ring (up to two): rings.
Shield: shields.
Shoulders: capes and cloaks.
Wrist: bracelets and bracers.

While shields and armor are specifically called out as to have a slot, weapons are not. So both the summoner and the eidolon could wield a magical weapon.

Hmmmm so its ruled that way . . . so the Ediolon could technically benefit from massive bonsues supplied by slotless items allowing both it and the summoner to have "virtual" rings (2 on the summoner and a slotless variant on the eidolon) interesting, very interesting.

Yup. Slotless costs 2x the price of normal slotted gear, but it's a good trade off for a summoner and his eidolon.

Don't forget Ioun stones, you can have (theoretically) infinite of them floating over your head.

Scarab Sages

They'd need to be custom to duplicate effects.
