Unrelatedly: I know it's only to be expected, with so many people trying to make their item sound elegant and interesting and not just another X, but...
I'm pretty sure I've run into more shields called 'aegis' at this point than I've run into shields called 'shield'.
138 words to tell me about a ring that does the exact same thing as a spell only not as good.... Pass

No, Michael Bey, not voting for you this time either.
Two tentacle items paired together.
Two items that I could make a decent argument for being cursed items...who to choose...

I already have a player like that, thank you. I don't need a magic item that can make them all like that.
I just hit my first lance too. I wonder if items generate at roughly the same time....? Like, if one particular item is 'hot' at a given time and more likely to come up?

If your staff recharges that frequently all by itself, said charges are no longer a limiting factor.
Earth power or lightning power?
Fire power or wind power?
I haven't seen any water powers yet unless you include frost and ice.

Hey, someone's obviously a fan.

Ooze and more ooze. This contest is oozing with ooze.
GRAH. Two items that have consistently been my auto-downvotes every time I have seen them (and I've seen them each several times) against each other. *headbangs, forces self to decide on the worst of two really awful items*
The number of snake-themed items I've encountered is approaching 15.
Souleater vs. spelleater!
I know a lot of people are complaining about higher word cont, but I have yet to find an item below 200 words that I enjoyed.
On the positive side I am up to 9 keeps and 2 strongs. My first weapon keep as well!

I've seen two or three 275+ word items that make excellent use of their word count; I could easily see them making the Top 32.

There are some really good designs this year and much less drek overall at all levels of word count.
and does everything a spider can! *Shakes head* "Geeze"
Just saw an item that was exactly like my runner up. Glad I changed my mind.

Pro-tip: Using meta-concepts like exp, or at next level up, is incredibly difficult. At the same level as say singing the star spangled banner for your vocal audition. Unless you are 100% sure you have to do it that way and it is the best item ever, literally, don't just don't.

90% sure someone has seen my item. Also 75% sure they thought it was crap. :D

Double checked just to be sure:
666 unique items so far!
...and I still haven't seen my item! :/
and, just found the first rod for my keep pile, under 200 words too. I guess I have to eat my words.

As a GM, as a human being, I have to take a stand. Just say "No" to items that make your job that much more ridiculously difficult.

It's Aegis vs. Aegis in a Battle for the Ages!
Item related to iconic monster that doesn't ever do that, vs. Item I'd already upvoted once before. Easy Peasy.
And hey, I got Star Voter. Nice.
Effects without save = Down vote from me.

Looks like you forgot to change the save type from your "rad items" notebook reclaimed form 2nd ed.
That idea would fit well in Middle Earth.
Haha oh my gosh, that thing is equal parts goofy and terrifying. I want one so badly for at least one of my characters.
If your item can also occupy a wondrous item slot, chances are you didn't change your idea when the requirements changed. Have a down vote.
Ugh and reading this thread I have yet to see anything that makes me go "I think they found mine!" It's one thing to have created a bad item that makes people groan, another to have made one that's somehow so middle of the road that nobody cares.
[e] I know mine's been seen at least, as it's showed up in that Google Document. It's just that I don't think anyone's either been impressed OR offended by it enough to comment.
Generic weather-based magic vs WOW THAT'S INTENSELY UNSETTLING WITH AN INTENSELY UNSETTLING CREATION REQUIREMENT
hello creepy item, have an upvote for being intensely creepy without being too gauche
Is there some special property of magic items that leads them to 'appear' as something or 'seem to be made of' something?

So far I've seen 23 DQ-able items! - 2 IP violations (Google)
- 9 wrong type of item for the contest
- 8 missing templates
- 4 over word count if they used proper grammar/template
Of course, a few had multiple violations. And no, joke items aren't DQable...
