In the contest rules, we have the line
Anyone who has been employed full-time as a designer for a game company is ineligible.
So, for the purposes of this competition, does game company include video game design studios, or are we just talking rpg related stuff? I was employed as a junior designer for a year by Revolution Software, working on the last Broken Sword game - does that disqualify me?

Hey Bill,
I am not an official in any fashion, but hate to see a comment not get at least some response while awaiting something from someone that would actually be able to answer your question.
I would suspect the answer to that is NO, you're not disqualified. I believe that restriction is more directed to game companies that create other tabletop roleplaying games, which might give you an unfair advantage or edge in design philosophy, etc. OR represents you having already "made it" in this niche field (of tabletop roleplaying games), as they are looking for "new talent" in a sense (at least, that's my understanding).
So while you're waiting for someone like Owen or one of the other Paizo-officials to chime in, I'd start working on those write ups for an entry!
Just my thoughts.

I believe in the past that has never been a disqualification, but you can check previous years' threads for your answer.

"We're going to amend the rules to say that you are only disqualified if you're a full-time employee of a print publisher."
The day prior to that, another elihgibilty response bu Vic Wertz
"The intent of this particular rule is to eliminate folks who have been professionally published within a moderately high-profile product. So we'll say a print-on-demand hardcover doesn't count"
They are BOTH referring print products - I have seen the game designer question before, and Mamaursula is correct in that SO FAR it hasn't been a DQ for such entrants.
I myself have written spectrum games back in the day (Artic Computing's Paws, and Death Chess 5000 to name two) and so far I haven't been DQ'd.

Thank you for asking this question, and thank all those who answered. This question was resting on my mind as well, because I've authored and self-published two novels of the science-fantasy variety.
So since I am not necessarily high-profile, I am good to go as far as RPGSS is concerned.
Woop woop! \(^o^)/
