I have good news for those interested...Mike Brock will be attending Winter War and may be GMing a table or two. If/when we determine his involvement with any events, I will post the info. Until then, we will just welcome him as an attendee. I look forward to buying him a beer or two (or ten)
:-D

3-1/2 weeks to go and still plenty of player/GM seats available. We just received a HUGE selection of convention support from Paizo and have a custom character sheet/journal in the works, plus some options for charity support.

The Exchange 4/5

Bob, I can't tell how many have signed up for any of my tables, so am asking. Do I have players and if not do you need me to cover other tables.

Sovereign Court 5/5 5/5

Actually, you can, Jeff. If you go to "My Account" on the WinterWar site, you'll see your tables with how many people are registered (assuming Bob told the WinterWar staff that you are GMing those tables). I can see the number of players on all my tables, and all but my Friday afternoon slot are full.

Grand Lodge 5/5

Nice! Thanks for pointing that out, Mike!

Looks like all three of mine are gonna make. One is full, the others are at 4 and 3 so far.

The Exchange 4/5

Got it, Thanks. never noticed that before. Shakes head.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

Since we have tables with no players signed up, we have decided to start making adjustments to the schedule in order to offer more of what players want. In that vein, a few tables have been cancelled and replaced with The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and The Silverhex Chronicles. If you are a player and have an open slot, consider joining these games. Both are sanctioned for organized play and will include chronicles.

Obviously, this means we need some GMs for those events. So, if you're interested, please let me know.

4/5

Got my updated schedule after the adjustment. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of high level play.

A (Friday Afternoon) 6-02 The Silver Mount Collection -GM (I discourage playing this with 3rd level characters due to difficulty)

B (Friday Evening) -- PFS 2-07 The Heresy of Man Part II: Where Dark Things Sleep -Player

D (Saturday Morning) 6-02 The Silver Mount Collection -GM (I discourage playing this with 3rd level characters due to difficulty)

E (Saturday Afternoon) -- PFS 6-03 The Technic Siege -Player

F (Saturday Evening) -- PFS 6-13 Of Kirin and Kraken -Player

H (Sunday Morning) -- PFS 6-04 Beacon Below -Player

J (Sunday Afternoon) -- PFS 2-18 The Forbidden Furnace of Forgotten Koor -Player

Well, it was a hard fight, but we managed to filling fill all outstanding GM slots. A few tables had a be cancelled along the way for various reasons, but luckily very few players were affected. We should have space for both Silverhex Chronicles and Pathfinder Adventure Card game, so we're excited about that.

Additionally, I can reveal the surprise we have been keeping secret until now. Two, count 'em two retired scenarios are being resurrected for Winter War.

On Saturday night, we will be offering #10 Blood at Dralkard Manor for character levels 4-5. And then on Sunday afternoon, we dust off #25 Hands of the Muted God for your 7-9th level PCs. Both are fully updated for the Pathfinder ruleset and include a new chronicle sheet with additional rewards. To make it even better, we have coaxed none other than our fearless leader, Mike Brock to GM these tables for us! It should be great fun so bring your applicable characters.

We did not list these events for pre-registration because the seats will be raffled off onsite to twelve lucky players. Proceeds from this raffle as well as some other little tidbits will be donated to the American Cancer Society via Relay for Life.

So see ya Friday night February 6th in Champaign Illinois for WINTER WAR!

Hahaha, I just realized I will be turning 42 at Winter War 42.

I'm pretty sure all the GMs will give me TPKs for my birthday.

GMing slot 1-3 Heresy of Man 1-3. Always wanted to play #3 before reading it but looks like wont be able too. And I will have the maps to the right size this time. Ran this couple years ago and missed the key the squares were 10' not 5'.

D (Saturday Morning) -- PFS 5-05 The Elven Entanglement

E (Saturday Afternoon) -- PFS 6-00 Legacy of the Stonelords *SPECIAL*

F (Saturday Evening) -- PFS 6-13 Of Kirin and Kraken

H (Sunday Morning) -- PFS 5-99 The Paths We Choose

J (Sunday Afternoon) -- PFS 2-18 The Forbidden Furnace of Forgotten Koor

Looks like I planned to be at two tables at the same time and no one caught this. Sent both at roughly the same time and didnt even notice. Will GM first and if not enough players get to play I guess.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Is anyone playing 10-11 Legacy of Stonelords?

I know a friend who will have a Rogue 7/Pathfinder Field Agent 4 or a Fighter 1/Bard 9.

I'll be bringing my L11 who will be playing this as his last hurrah before retiring. He's a Ranger 6/Horizon Walker 3/Fighter 2.

Hoping there'll be at least two other high tier folks.

The Exchange 4/5

I plan on playing my 11th first world summoner. Depending on view many I play.

Kristen and I took that slot off, though I dont think we have any actual plans for it at this point. So we might join up, but the highest I can bring to the table is a Brawler 6/Living Monolith 3 or a Ninja 4/Paladin 4.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. Atavisk is the Bruno Breakbone of hitting things with a shield.

Bruno, a handsome and beautiful Tetori, not smart enough to grapple metaphors.

Great fun, lots of laughs, and a most creative solution to a slave auction. Good times. :-)

Thanks again to Bob for organizing an excellent event and thanks to all the GMs who traveled to make our local con work.

I'm curious, how many new players did you see at your tables giving Pathfinder a try?

My Wounded Wisp table had three new players and one who was playing her 2nd PFS game. Two of those new players were around 8. Not sure the paper-chasing nature of the scenario drew them in, as one of them asked me if we could please fight some more monsters soon.

Another Winter War is in the books and much fun was had by all. While our attendance was down a tad from last year (our peak), it was still the biggest draw at the show making up nearly 50% of the convention's events. I only issued four new player numbers, but since I had sooo many VO in attendance, they may have issued some themselves.

I have a number of Thank You's to offer, the first of which goes to the GMs who gave of their time to make sure everyone else had fun. I am always in awe of the passion and animation that our GMs display. Ruckus laughter was quite prevalent.

The Legacy of the Stonelords special was loads of fun and Andrew Hoskins did a great job cos-playing Kreighton Shaine and overseeing the event. Thanks Andrew!

Special thanks to Jay Sigler who voluntarily jumped in and ran Pathfinder Adventure Card Game for new players who wanted to try it out.

Lucas Servideo, VL-Massachusettes supplied us with custom, special edition character journals. Next to the goblin plushies, they were the most appreciated prize support item. Thanks Lucas!

And speaking of goblin plushy, I have to thank Paizo for their generous prize support. Quite a few players were hopping excited about their free gift.

We had the honor of announcing two new 5-star GMs.
Seth Brummond, Venture-Captain of Kansas City, completed his 150th table during the convention.
Richard Gilbert, Venture-Captain of Chicago, had previously completed the requirements, but needed a suitable venue for an announcement of this magnitude.
Congratulations guys!

A huge thank you to Mike Brock for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our little, Midwest convention. It was great to see the player's reactions as they had time to rub elbows with the "big boss" of PFS. He gave graciously of his time, being available to players at HQ, and running two tables of retired scenarios. It was very cool to see him in GM action. Both tables nervously fought their way through perilous encounters that nearly ended in TPKs, but in the end, the players prevailed. The updated chronicle sheets were awesome. I certainly hope the effort continues to get all of the season zero scenarios, including the retired one, updated to Pathfinder rules and released. Players always seem to enjoy the classics.

Our fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society was a huge success, generating nearly twice as much in donations than we anticipated. The generosity of our community never ceases to amaze. I am very thankful and appreciative to any and all who help with this cause.

Finally, we had the honor of presenting two new PFS Campaign Service Award awards to Garrett Gottschalk (VL in Chicago) and Seth Gipson (co-VC in Carbondale IL). I have had the good fortune of working with both. They are both awesome community leaders and plain excellent people. Congratulations!

Thanks again to everyone who made Winter War a success and see ya next year. Now, I've gotten get some sleep...
