Best magic items for party members.

Advice

Hello. I am running a campaign that is rather unique in that the players were required to multi-cass and start at level 2. They are currently at level 6. I am looking for suggestions on what magic items/weapons/armor be most helpful to them.

First, I have a Sylph rogue/wizard which uses a bow often, so I was wondering which bow would be best to reward him with.

Next, I have a tiefling monk/magus that focuses on temple sword.

Then I have a half-orc rage prophet. What item could benefit him the best?

Thanks for your help!

Are you looking for items straight from the books or looking for custom item ideas too?

Any ideas would be helpful. It is a homebrew. I just don't want to give them things they won't want or use.

For custom weapons, anything that will increase some ability, since they were all asked to multiclass.

Some examples, boots that give the rogue +1d6 on their sneak attack, magus might enjoy more pool points from an amulet or ring. Additional rage for the rage prophet might also be a useful item.

As for standard items, ask the party what kind of items they would like to buy. If they do not have any specifics, random loot tables can be fun.

There are the basic items that most character want/need, like Belts/Headbands of +2 Stat, Cloaks of Resistances, Amulets of Natural Armor, Rings of Protection. Those ones are always kinda boring but necessary. Magic weapons and armor are necessities too but can be less boring as you can customize them with different properties.

Beyond those things, consider what the characters really need as well as the power level you want.

1. Rogue/Wizard: Definitely has trouble hitting and most likely with damage, especially as ranged attacks are not easy to sneak attack with and archery is very feat intensive and you are looking at zero bonus combat feats.

Book items: Basic items listed above. Make his bow straight enhancement as he needs the buffs for hitting. Give Bracers of the Falcon to help out there too.

Custom idea: Maybe give him a bow that he can spend spells into for buffs, like allow him to free action burn a spell slot to perhaps add +the level of the spell burned to hit attack and damage rolls for a certain amount of time or perhaps add intelligence to his attack/damage for a number of rounds equal to the spell level burned. I like the second option; it may sound like a massive boost, which it is, but it may be needed to bring him up to baseline.

2. Monk/Magus: Is very MAD and with two 3/4 BAB classes probably has some hitting issues. Losing caster levels hurts as well.

Book items: Basic magic items; ability score boosters definitely. Level 1 Pearls of Power are awesome for Magus. For his weapon consider the Guided weapon property: It is +1 and allows Wisdom for hit/damage. Something to increase his effective caster level would be great too, but those are expensive items normally.

Custom idea: If his intelligence is highest, perhaps make a version of Guided based on int instead. Perhaps a ring or amulet with the ability to spend ki/arcane points to increase his caster level to character level?

3. Rage Prophet... I'm assuming Oracle Barbarian leading into it? This sounds like the most solid of the builds so far but I would need more info about it to comment.

Book items: A weapon with the Furious and Courageous properties. There is also a belt that I can't remember the name of right now that costs 16k, give +2 to con, and lets the wearer take 1d6 nonlethal instead of becoming fatigued. It is an amazing barbarian item as it allows him to turn his rage on and off with no cool down time as the fatigue timer is negated; it would allow him to essentially use once per rage abilities multiple times in an encounter.

Oracle/barbarian is correct. What other info did you need?

Yes, I was looking for non-standard stuff that would really make the experience fun.

I have a crafter npc that is making a double glaive/double musket. You can fire from both ends and use either end as a glaive. Hoping that someone would like this. They don't seem to be into firearms even though without the feat, they can still be decent ranged weapons because of touch AC. I don't know.

Your ideas are very helpful. I don't understand the magus class very well, so when I was told that he wanted items to fuse with the blade I am confused by how that works.

Depends a bit on what they already have. Still, all 3 seem to be focused on damage (based on your post above), so I'm guessing items which aid that will be well received.

For the rage prophet - a furious weapon if he doesn't already have one. If he does, a torc of bloody rage might be useful.

For the tiefling, a spell storing weapon maybe? If they're already happy with their weapon, a pearl of power would always be useful.

For the sylph, a seeking bow or ammunition will make sneak attack easier to achieve. If this isn't an issue, give him something which aids stealth.

Why not go for some of the cheap and fun items? The Anytool and the Sleeves of Many Garments are always fun. Going slightly pricier, I love Boots of the Cat.

Going more expensive... For the Rage Prophet, drop a Mnemonic Vestment. It's an awesome item that grants quite a bit of flexibility to spontaneous casters.

Hmm

How about a simple Monk's Robe for the monk? Other things that increase character level abilities would help make up for lost levels.

What are some of your suggestions besides the robe?

This will do a better job.
