Sorcerer build advice

Advice

Hey, im looking to play a sorcerer as both my character and the party wizard have just died. Im looking to be a blaster Sorcerer with a heavy focus on the spell Spontaneous immolation. We are level 4 and we roll for stats so can you give me stats in order of priority, alsowe are far above WBL with characters having +2 and +3 items, so most gear is acceptable. Thanks

How about something like this:

Half-Orc Tatooed Sorcerer(Orc bloodline)
Fire spells with an increased caster level from your tattoo and more damage with your spells because of this and because of your favored class bonus from your Race. Take a look at the different alternate racial traits like Sacred tattoo(Very thematic for you).

Be sure to have a few none fire spells ready and some for creatures with very high SR. Say like Snowball. And Magic missile for any incorporal foes.
Stats should look like something similar to this:
Cha>Con>Dex=Int>Wis>Str

So getting a Cha +2 Item would be very beneficial for this build.

And remember that winning Initiaitve will allow you to blast before the rest of your party moves in and gets in the way. The familiar you get from your archetype can help with this, as can Improved initiaitve, the trait Reactionary and a Cracked Dusty Rose Prism Ioun stone.

I'd get a Cha +4 item because thats the sort of gear we have available, all the gear is scaled hugely upward, so theres +12 and +16 Stat items for when we get high tier, why is dex equal to Int? i would of thought Dex was higher because of AC. Also all characters get a special sort of artefact item thats more powerful that other items and it has to be incorporatd into their backstory, Would a staff be viable? we can houserule so the staff is a gem or something as long as it retains the stats, were big on flavour.

Those stat allocations are merely my own prefered ones.
The reson for wanting a high int are for getting alot of skills.
With your 2+Int skills per level having +1 or higher on your Intelligence modifier allows you to spread the love to a multitude of things like Bluff, Diplomacy(getting this as a class skill can be done through traits), Intimidate and so on... But yes I do tend to downgrade Dex.

Think of it this way. At low level when combined with Mage armor and a shield spell you can get a decent AC. But as you start to approach the teen levels it will fall behind in improtance as you will simply not be able to keep up. Consider getting misschance and/ or stuff like Mirror image for your defences.

As for a Staff: A Staff can be a good way to keep going if your GM is the kind to keep throwing stuff at you. Talk with him/her about making a Staff of the Master with an evocation theme attached to it (the only version is currently the Necromancy one).
It will allow you to spend charges from the staff on throwing metamagic onto your spells without increasing the spell-level. Do note that you must have them as feats for this to work.
Another option is to simply get a few Metamagic rods, like Quicken or Empowered.

Lantern Lodge

You might be better off focusing on Burning Arc (2nd Level) and Fireball (3rd Level). Spontaneous Immolation doesn't scale... it's kind of a dead end spell.

Here's a fire sorceror build I'm using right now.

Archetype (Tattooed Sorceror)

25 point buy: STR 10, DEX 14, CON 14, INT 13, WIS 10, CHA 19

Gnome with Pyromaniac racial trait

one of his two regular Traits is: Magical Lineage (Fireball): -1 Metamagic Spell Level

Mongoose Familiar (+2 Fortitude)

Take a bloodline that gives you +1 damage per die, like the Elemental (Fire) Bloodline or a fire-based Dragon bloodline. This character took the Draconic/Brass Bloodline.

1-Varisian Tattoo (Evocation): +1 CL Evocation Spells
1-Spell Focus (Evocation): +1 DC Evocation Spells
1-Alertness (Familiar): +2 Perception, +2 Sense Motive
3-Spell Specialization (Burning Hands->Burning Arc->Fireball): +2 CL
5-Intensify Spell: +1 Spell Level
7-Greater Spell Focus (Evocation) +1 DC Evocation Spells
9-Elemental Focus (Fire): +1 DC Fire Spells
11-Greater Elemental Focus (Fire): +1 DC Fire Spells
13-Maximize Spell: +3 Spell Level
13-Quicken Spell: +4 Spell Level
15-Spell Perfection (Fireball)

At 6th Level he throws a 10d10+10 fireball with a DC 19 (DC 20 at Level 7). With a +6 CHA item, he would have a DC 22 at 6 and DC 23 at 7.

At 15th Level he can in one round cast one Quickened/Intensified 15d6+15 DC 27 fireball AND one Maximized/Intensified 15d6+15 DC 27 fireball.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE THIS CHARACTER IN A GAME with alot of immune or resistant to fire opponents. This character was deliberately designed to be a narrow-focused fire blaster. He's not what I would call versatile, though you could make him a bit more versatile by taking a few non-fire spells like Create Pit, Snowball, etc.

Maybe with the opportunity to get a +12 stat item eventuallt thing about getting the metamagic feat: Dazing spell. Maybe at level 11/13 ish.

An interesting build. This one would allow you to do the Crossblooded cheese with the two bloodlines dealing extra damage without most of the penalties that normally gives you.

It's not mine...I just brought together a bunch of builds and made sure to preserve this one.

but yes, that's exactly what it's designed to do.

YOu get wizard versatility, sorcerer spec in your fav blaster spell, more feats, and exceedingly good blaster damage in that spell, with the ability to change the element on the fly if need be...or simply use different spells.

To OP:

Both Captain Zoom and Aelryinth have excellent suggestions.
Zoom's build is very close to my Gnome in PFS.
My gnome took orc bloodline and pyromaniac.
Aelryinth is an excellent build just keep in mind it is a wizard and you did say sorcerer. If you're okay with the delayed spell progression in exchange for the monstrous damage bonus then you're fine.

I also second the recommendation to focus more on burning hands and fireball. Generally speaking arcanists excel more in area damage than single target. Not to mention the martials tend to be better at single target damage.

If you insist on single-target fire damage...I'd look at Scorching Ray or Burning Arc. Both scale better and both are level 2.

If you want to stick with spontaneous casting (and not just for fireball) then I'd go with Zoom's build or a variant thereof.

And I'd strongly advise against cross-blooded if you stay single-class sorcerer. It really only shines when you dip sorc 1 and stay wizzie the rest of your career.

Suggested gear:
Goblin Fire Drum, lesser. Very dangerous but loads of fun if used properly. Familiar riding in your backpack could use/play this. Just make sure you and your friends aren't carrying any flammables...and spend a few ranks in Perform :)

Rod of Selective Spell, Lesser. Plop your fireball and spare 4 of your friends from the effects. For a party of 4, you can safely call fire on your own position.

Good luck!
