Disappointed that the closest region is 160 miles away.

Yay, most of the regions I'll be at will be covered! Now I can go bug them about it instead of the PFS RPG VLs :)

Well, my area is covered. Of course, it means we get to cover two sides of a state line.

It's only because someone didn't apply for wherever you are at. VO positions are often under appreciated and people lash out at them about things not in their control, single them out on message boards just because they have a title next to their name, and other immature acts that make people hesitant to volunteer their valuable time for people who don't seem to appreciate it. That makes finding volunteers a difficult task and is one we battle every day.

If you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering, have them email me.

There may or may not have been someone who applied near tkpope (I have no idea), but that certainly isn't always the reason. I applied (and I trust there were good reasons I wasn't accepted), but even with these new VOs, the nearest city is almost 75 miles away, and that's to the closest edge of Tucson ignoring how far in I would have to drive. If I can't get my local shop to completely run OP -- it was going to be easier having a VL here -- then OP is out of the question for probably anyone here. Driving an hour or more for it is not an option for most of the people who would want to play.

I hope I was the only person from Sierra Vista to apply, because it'd be really disappointing to know multiple of us went for it and none of us could make it to have a VL down here.

I don't remember seeing an email from you, Andrew. However, I went through more than 170 emails so I may have missed one or two. Email me so we can sort it out.

Understandable, I'm glad to see there was that much interest in, that's always a good sign I think. Thanks for the quick response, I've gone ahead and resent the email.

If I see the VO in Portland Oregon has volunteered, should I just contact them directly to ask to get involved?

Yes

Can someone explain what the actual impact of this is for Organised Play?

our FLGS has registered for OP - they got a pack back in August, complete with a couple of promos (I think it was the goblin juggling bombs?) as far as I can tell, they haven't had any scenarios yet- they certainly hadn't heard about the PDF with a million Shark Islands.

As the only VL in the UK is way down in London, does this mean that OP will be disappearing before it began? or can we still get and play these scenarios through the shop without one?

You can still get and play them without a venture officer nearby. The store can receive them. The venture officers are there to help coordinate when needed and can run organized play without a store. But they don't attend every organized play session, or even close to it. So organized play can still happen at your store through the store itself.

Grand Lodge

Also, they're usually involved in any events or cons that are being run. They should be your conduit if there are issues with organized play sessions.

MightyJim, next time you're in the store, have them log into their Paizo account. Have them go to their downloads area. They should have at least two files available to them: the S&S demo and the mini-scenario. I had to step through it with my LGS as well. They (and I) thought it was an email. There is no email, the files will show up in the download area.

Hope this helps.

Mike that's not true. I applied for VL!

Mike, if I want to know who the PACG VOs are in my region (because October 1 is fast approaching) should I contact my VCs for the region?

I'd like to talk to them and get a feel for the landscape.

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

They'll be announcing the PACG VO's soon. If you want to talk to them now, asking your regional VC would be the person to go to.

I had more than 200 emails and 20+ Questions on each of the 200+ questionnaires to review. It is likely I may have missed one or two in all of the documents. Email me.

Done. I should have realized that you were inundated last week. I'm very excited about OP, but I shouldn't have vented here. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Mike,

OP begins tomorrow, should selected VO's be getting access to the scenarios soon, or should they rely on the stores to print them out if events are happening tomorrow afternoon?

4/5

If you don't have a PFACG VL listed and you're interested in participating in the Organized Play, I'd definitely recommend emailing your Pathfinder Society VOs for your area.

I know that for my region (Nashville / Middle Tennessee) we have a few people that have expressed interest in playing, but are still trying to figure out how exactly we're going to incorporate the Card Guild in our area. I imagine things are similar in other regions, where a lot of the people willing to organize games are already the ones organizing / GMing game days for PFS ;)

PDFs are rolling out as we speak, to retailers and VCs (card game VLs have been selected, but there's some processing on the back-end still to do.)

I'm going to try to have them out sometime on Tuesdays in the future, to allow for printing.

I will take this opportunity to say again: MAKE SURE YOUR STORES HAVE SIGNED UP FOR CARD GUILD AT THE RETAIL LOCATOR (paizo.com/retailers). This is how the stores themselves can get scenarios, which will make it much easier for stores to run events, since most don't have a Pathfinder Society Venture Officer running things for them.

Am I still able to sign off chronicle sheets, or do I have to wait for my VL appointment to be all officialerated and whatnot?

Silver Crusade 3/5

If this works out anything like PFS does, then you should be able to sign off on chronicle sheets without a problem. I don't see anything in the guide saying you have to have a VO sign off on a chronicle sheet.

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

Whoever is the table organizer is the person that signs the chronicle sheets.

AFAIK you don't have to be a VO to sign a chronicle sheet. The store coordinator has to know that you signed it, but I've signed off on chronicle sheets before without being a VL (Usually for PFS the GM at the table does the signin).

Usually whoever organizes the event does the reporting. I believe the chronicle sheets are the authoritative source of record (which I actually disagree with, but I presume this is easier for the people who have to enter these things).

My FLGS indicated that they can see the scenarios listed but that they are not available for download. Is there a delay?

Sent you a message Tanis :)

All registered retailers and regional coordinators should now be able to download the scenarios properly now. We apologize for any delay or inconvenience this may have caused.

Mike and Tanis, I sent you both e-mails...

Thanks,

Chris,

When will new VLs (those mentioned in Mike's OP here) be able to download the scenarios?

Thanks!

Kevin,

Right now we are waiting on the official email to come down to us. Until we get that email and sign it, we are not yet registered as VLs. Once we do, we should be able to download the scenarios as per Chris's message.

Also, if you have a Venture-Captain in the area, they should have access to download the scenarios and they might be able to print them for you while we wait for the official e-mail.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I had already explored those solutions so that I would be ready to run my first PACG OP event tomorrow, but was just very inarticulately asking if we were still on track to get the email this week that would grant the new card game VL's access to the scenarios. :)

Yeah, talk to your fellow VOs. I played a game this week with a PFS VL (who actually hadn't played a lot of PACG so I was actually leading the game. I would become a PACG VL myself, but I've got too much on my plate at the moment to do so.)

Silver Crusade 3/5

I'm equally as curious on when we'll be receiving that e-mail. I'd like to be able to download the scenarios myself instead of bugging my VC.

At least we all got access to the 0-0 scenario. Though I am totally ready to jump feet first into the whole path.

Not seeing 0-0e yet, and 0-0f is coming soon. Any updates on this by any chance after the long weekend?

0-1E and 0-1F that is. Posting too late in the evening!

0-1F isn't out yet. You should be able to download 0-1E if you're signed up. My LGS's were both able to.

I'd be interested in hosting some PACG events in Cologne, Germany. It's probably possible to do this in a shop – I have talked to Brave New World owner Robert about this, and he's OK with this – or possibly on a private basis.

I have contacted Markus Lambertz as he is listed as PFS Venture-Captain for the Cologne region here via PM on this site, but seeing he has only posted once here, I'm not sure he really frequents the forum, so I have no idea if my PM will even reach him this way. So far I haven't gotten a reply since I wrote to him a week ago.

Is this the right way to go, or can I get into this in some other way?

Or here you go:

Since the PM didn't work you might try directly contacting him this way.

Sniggevert, thanks. I'll try that.

I am a bit confused though now after reading some more. Is the PFS-VC "in charge" for PACG, too, or are they choosing different "officers" for that?

The PFS-VC is currently the one "in charge" for the various regions, and they will still be the "point" person for heading up contacts for local conventions and the like. Duties can (and should) be relegated by the individual VC's to their VL's as the situation calls for.

The new PACG VL's are, generally, covering smaller areas than VC's, but will be the person trying to help local area stores that are interested get up and running (and try to drum up interest in those stores that don't already have any). So far, to my knowledge, the new PACG VL's are awaiting final sign up and NDA approval before they actually become the new officers. At least, I know I am in that situation as I am going to be our local VL.

Most situations that I've seen, the VL's are fairly well autonomous in their own areas, but when larger events such as conventions or public game days come along, you will have a number of VL's helping out, and the local VC will be the one in charge of delegating the responsibilities in that case and working with the overall event organizers to get game space.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: And when the VL's do complete their signup, then there will be public emails to reach them directly made available in the Guide to Organized Play for the card game. I'd assume that info would be posted online like the PFS VO's as well.

I don't think there are any VCs specifically for PACG (as in Venture CAPTAINS). I think they picked VLs (Venture LIEUTENANTS). That doesn't mean a VC can't do anything with PACG, but if you are specializing in OP just for PACG, I think you are a VL.

VCs are responsible for EVERYTHING. The PACG-VLs are responsible for just PACG. They are "under" the VC. So the VC should still be able to help you get what you need. It is still the VC's responsibility to coordinate PACG in their area (if there is interest of course).

But, I'll point out two things:

First, you could, if interested, find out about being a PACG-VL for your area.

Second, if you have a store, you don't need the VC or VL (though working with them might be helpful). Just have the store sign up. The store's Paizo account will be able to download the scenarios. I think you'll still be able to setup the events on your account. All you'll need them to do is literally download and print a PDF. So even if you don't want to be a VL, you could go to the store and say "If you'll sign up and download the scenarios and designate a time for it to happen, I'd be willing to provide the initial base set and run the event. If people show up, they might buy stuff from your store. If after a few tries not enough people are showing up, we can always stop. But if after a tries lots of people are showing up and it is helping the store, we can talk about the store providing a copy of the base set to allow a second table. I'll still be willing to organize and prepare the store's copy of the base set too."

That seems reasonable, provided the store has the space to hold such a thing.
