Alchemist needs a 50 lbs kit to do anything?

Rules Questions

So I've just created a ratfolk alchemist this is my 2nd character creation and I'm still very new to pathfinder.
But I've got a light load carrying capacity of 28lbs. I am pretty much already on a heavy load just by buying a 50lbs alchemist crafting kit do I actually need to carry this into every battle otherwise I can't create bombs and does that mean that I'll have a max dex bonus of 1 because of being in heavy load what can I do about that?

Hi, and welcome to PFS

I think what you are looking for is just an Alchemist's Kit from the APG:

Alchemist's Kit

This kit is only 5 pounds and 25 gold.

Also, since you are new, I wanted to make sure you knew that Ratfolk are not usually allowed as a PC race for PFS, unless you got a specific boon from Gencon this year that allows you to play one. The current allowed races are the Core Rulebook races, Tengu, Kitsune, Nagaji and Wayangs.

Hope that helps.

A couple of things; first are you taking into account that since the ratfolk are small sized their equipment weighs less? Also I'm not sure where you're seeing 50lbs for the crafting kit, since an "Alchemist Kit" (which includes the crafting kit) only weighs 24 lbs for medium creatures.

Finally, if all else fails you can always have the stuff you know you won't need in a fight in your backpack and just use your first turn setting it down. Or if you know you will be in town for the day, just leave the heavy stuff behind.

Ah I see the issue. The item was renamed "Alchemist's Crafting Kit" in Ultimate Equipment, but has an incorrect weight listed. It should be 5 pounds, not 50.

See here

APG has the correct weight.

Mules are 8 gp in the Core Rulebook. All my low strength characters have one to carry the heavy stuff they don't need during battle (bedroll, waterskin, rope, grappling hook, etc). Just leave the mule outside the dungeon when you go in, so it doesn't get killed.

Or put all that stuff in a single sack and hand it to the party's highest strength character to carry for you. Be sure to bring cookies when you do this - they give a circumstance bonus on the diplomacy check to ask for that help.

Also I believe that you'll find that the kit is for crafting alchemical items. It is not required for creating their bombs, mutagens and infusions.

well two kits exist
one in core for making alchemical items etc
and one in apg (and later ultimate equip). that is for alchemists and is the equivilant of a magical materials bag for wizard and sorcerers.

In apg, it was printed 5lbs 25 gold in equipment, there was a mess up I think since it is listed as 50lbs there.

one of the devs has confirmed that they had some formating issues,
