Do you really want PFO hyped among that crowd?
I'm not too familiar with that crowd, but I'd invite you to use the search function on these message boards for such enlightening topics as "rogue, paladin, martial/caster, or monk" or may Serenrae have mercy on your soul "4e". Paizo actively discourages edition warring, proving there a classy bunch, but I'm sure there's plenty of warm and fuzzy feeling floating around.
Also I added some hype to the PFO train.

What we really need are people who are regulars on the site to actually want to vote for it. Sell the game on its merits and we might get some good out of this.
I think for what it is, and who it is for, PFO is not in the hype train that most people who play mmorpgs are accustomed to for each and almost every new mmorpg title. Hence the jaded atmosphere at mmorpg.com etc.
It comes back to this game being atm for much much smaller group of players but hitting the 9/10's for satisfaction with those people instead of the much higher rush of people who would score 4 or 5/10 and play and complain and move on. Imo.
That said a little recruiting driving is positive: Community is what makes people think there might be something in a game (beyond hype, ie organized groups who've thrown in their lot and decided together to play a game is far more note-worthy than praise). :)
It's tempting to take it further and almost discourage some people from the game with remarks that it's in a very bare-bones state and so on and so forth which may be unappealing, but take a look at the design plans which are the first step in the right direction of a thousand miles, at least. ;)

Marketing generally assumes that you'll annoy some people, get a bunch of people who couldn't care less, get a few people interested who'll give it up and get a tiny group that will embrace your product.
I think that honest posts about what you love and what isn't ready are way more useful than a hype vote.

I'm not going to "hype" or otherwise vote on the game until I actually get to play it.
Which is fine, but at that point it won't be on the list of games that are coming, it will be on the list of games that are already available, which is a different thing.
We're not talking about a "how good is this game?" list, we're talking about a "How excited are you for these games that aren't out yet?" list.

Umm, I find this very confusing. MMORPG's hype is for games that haven't been released that you are looking forward to playing upon release. Furthermore, seeing that you are very much into Pathfinder from your profile, I find it very odd that you wouldn't want to hype it either way. I must admit, though, I find a lot of things odd...

I will admit that I'm not particularly excited. Mainly because of the past history of Ryan Dancey who managed to singlehandedly kill off D+D's original Network Campaign, in the process managed to reveal that he knew nothing of the gaming community, save seeing them as a marketing target. Given how his prior company CPC managed to effectively lay waste to a decades work on the Vampire the Masquerade MMORG, is yet another reason that my expectations simply aren't that high.

LOL Carbon.....
And Ryan has taken an awful lot of s!@~ over the years for things that has landed in his lap, not of his own doing I might add. I give him credit for what he has accomplished, and since I have in fact played the Alpha, I see the potential, and I see where Ryan is leading GW, I am 100% behind hyping the game up. It might not be a WOW killer, but I think it will be successful.

There’s been many snipes at the community over there at MMORPG. I can understand where that is coming from. The Pathfinder Table Top community is very close knit niche and respectively so. This is however going to be an MMO game. Do I think will get a bejillian WoW fanboy l33t speak introduced into the game. No, I do not, but they will be in there in some small part. The core of the community is right here and now.
Keep this in mind though. How many of you have invited a new person to come play a table top for the first time? Or a sandbox game? Or a MMO? Then watch them evolve over a period of time as they grow in their gaming career while playing with you. The community is so great here and so involved that will get the quality of people you are concerned about not getting if we throw up some positive press in the game direction by sharing our excitement, and getting new people to come on board.
This is going to be a game built for a large audience. I don’t think we should draw a line in the sand and put up a sign that says “Keep Out”. I think we should say hey come on over and lets play a game you’ve never played before cause it’s unique. What makes it unique is not the fact that it is a sandbox or is built on the backbone of a successful IP like Pathfinder, but you guys.
Word of Mouth on our end can only do so much. We need a platform where we can get us to the numbers that are talked about in the blog posts. Kickstarter was that platform for a period of time, but that has since come and gone. That’s the whole purpose of this post is to get people to notice the game, not just spam it in their face.
They’re the one’s going to decide if they want to play or not. We are just showing that it is an option amongst the other Cookie Cutter theme park games coming out. But how are they going to know it is available to them if they don’t see it?
Also keep in mind that a louder disrespectful person in a large room gets more notice versus the 20 other socially norm people. And wouldn’t it be cool to show the gaming community at large that instead of a company throwing mucho money toward marketing their game (not saying Goblinworks won’t and I am sure they have their own marketing campaign all planned out) if we the community spread it to the masses. And I know we have been doing so indecently with our twitters, our facebooks, talking to people 1:1 etc… But we as a community went the extra mile which isn’t the norm by any stretch of the imagination, by helping it grow by going to the sites like MMORPG and made some noise by the fans to attract new fans to grow with us along the way.

I want to finish Landrush with a bang. I have an awesome plan to do so, but I can’t do it alone and I need you, yes YOU to help.
During my search to find anything and everything about Pathfinder Online I found on a site that I visit very often MMORPG.com that our beloved Pathfinder Online is ranked 30th most hyped in development game. I think we can do better. I want to see us in the top 7.
Why is this important?
Cause then our game will display on that websites homepage. Right now we have a score of 8.06 Hype. We need a score of at least 8.13 Hype (or better) to make the top 7 to be on MMORPG home page.
Only 136 people have voted! How many people joined the Kickstarter or after Kickstarter? I know we can do better! Further more only 47 people have commented about the game. We can so do better guys and gals.
So my request from me to you and the Pathfinder Community at large is to both “Vote” for our game at MMORPG and comment. It’ll take you 10 mins tops to do. And don’t say you’ll do it later cause you and I both know you’ll get distracted and forget. Take the 10 mins and just get it done and over with. And lets bring some new blood to our community!
Steps
Step 1.) Go here MMORPG
Step 2.) Register an account at the top (or sign in if you already have an account)
Step 3.) Go here Hype after you sign in and move the hype scale to 10 or whatever you think is fair, but you know it’s a 10.
Step 4.) Make a comment.
Step 5.) Tell your friends, settlement/company to do the same.
Step 6.) Give yourself a pat on the back for supporting Pathfinder Online.

Living City was already dead when Ryan took it over; it just hadn't fallen over yet. You can't blame any one person for the fact that *nobody* wanted to write content for the campaign any more.
That's just out and out wrong. Living City had plenty of players who wrote modules. Dancey's response to them was "We don't need nor want you any longer, as we have our professional module writers who will be providing modules from now on. Module output from his "professional stable" dropped to one or two modules per year, and many of them were inferior retreads of modules that had been done before. That after telling LC players to shred their characters and start over in the "Ruins of Ravens Bluff" and then back treading running two parallel campaigns that were both starved for modules didn't help.
Did Living City have problems before Dancey took it over? Yes, it did, but it was functioning well enough for the players up until that point. The final years of decline as well as it's death, can be laid straight at his door. So yes, I have good reasons for my lowered expectations.
