Wait,... Your a Mason?!?

Is that really as cool as it sounds? :)

I find it very rewarding. A lot of philanthropic work done by the Masons. As well as fellowship which is great. It is work and dedication of time you get out of it what you put in. I have been a Mason since 2004 my father is a mason and my grandfather before him and my uncles and we just brought my cousin into our Lodge. You should go check it out and see if it is something you might enjoy. I know I appreciate the nights I spend at Lodge.

When is Total Con? Wow Feb is not far away at all is it?

What classes are you taking Patrick?

Hi Every..um. Rambler,

two days without water due to a broken main pipe two houses away, grmph

but you learn how much you are used to our cilvilizatipn comforts

water is back now

Dark Archive

Glad to hear you have water again Aeglos.

I know when we lost it due to a broken main pipe it was not fun. In fact it happened while I was in the shower. Nothing like taking a shower and then getting that wonderful brown colored water.

Yeah having working indoor plumbing is a comfort but one I would not want to live without.

I am glad you have it back as well. Not a comfort but a necessity, at least for me.

I hope the trip went well Rags.

Things here are strange. Hot mess doesn't even begin to describe my finances. I'm doing landscaping on the side to make ends meet. But, I am making ends meet so that is something.

I do apologize for not getting on. I've been flat out with life. I know I have to get my PbPs shaken out. The whole michegas is a mess

It's all good aeglos. As a countryman of yours once said, "That which does not kill us makes us stronger". I will come out of this phase of my life stronger and in a better place.

I do hope things improve, Patrick.

Silver Crusade

You will, Patrick!

Hey all. Just wanted to wish y'all a merry winter festival of your preference. Mine is coming up quick, and the shortest day of the year is a great turning point to look ahead to the year ahead. So best wishes this Yule, and may the coming year bring peace and plenty upon your houses.

I wish everyone a happy and marry christmas.

Boy has caught conjunctivits on his last day of daycare but it is getting better fast.

Merry/Happy Christmas to you and yours aeglos !

And to you all as well!

happy new year, everyone

and Rock on in Eternity, Lemmy \m/

damn, what a year:
Lemmy, Philthy Animal, Sir Terry, BB King, Leonard Nimoy, Sir Christopher, Dusty Rhodes, Rowdy Roddy and here in Germany our coolest Federal Chancelor ever: Helmut Schmidt, coaching legends of my favorite soccer club: Dettmar Cramer ("Champions League 75 and 76) and Udo Lattek (Champions aleague 74) and a hero of every German boys childhood: Pierre Briece who played in the 60s Winnetou, Chieftain of all Apaches

Dark Archive

I did not know about Rowdy Piper wow. Yeah 2015 sucked as a year for me and my family glad to have it in the rear view mirror.

Hope everyone had a great New Years.

Patrick you planning on going to Total Con?

I think I am going to go with my nephew wanted to see if you were going to go and maybe convince Mike to join us.

hi everyone,

a post to keep the thread alive :-)

I hope everyone is well

I am a bit worried because my dad is in the hospital, he has anemia and so far they have no idea why, everyrhing they check in the last two days was ok

Hey Ramblers!

Keep forgetting to check the COOL threads! ;)

A belated Happy New Year and Christmas Holiday to all!

Hope all is going well for all, and everyone is happy and healthy, (if not wealthy or wise, in my case,)
;P

I hit the ground running in Jan, a whole 2 weeks BEFORE university started back up, and will not slow down (except for slight pauses during Mardi Gras and Easter) until July. :(

Man, I miss getting paid hourly. Like, A lot. :/

Keep truckin' fellows! :)

Happy happy everyone!

Busy as a one-armed paper hanger here. Just stopping by to say hello. Hope all is well with everyone

I am focusing on getting to GenCon this year. Anyone going? I have no earthly clue how I'm going to go about doing it, but I find getting the goal out there helps settle the details.

They will have my dice.

Current plan is to visit family in Ohio and drive up to GenCon while I'm there.

I'll be there.

I,... will not be there,... :P

BUT, I will be cheering for those of you who are! :)

Remember, what happens at GenCon, STAYS at GenCon.

Unless you provide pictures.
Pictures or it didn't happen. Just sayin'.

"Busy as a one-armed paper-hanger"?!?
I like that one. I'm using it.

I'll give you credit, but I can't afford royalties. Sorry. ;)

The good news? The weekend before Mardi Gras is my birthday!

The Bad? I have to work on my Freakin birthday. :(
(Rassin frassin mardi gras Krewes)
At least I get a 3 day weekend this week. (And I actually get most of the weekend off!) :)

Happy Happy everybody! :D

Currently scheming how I will find the coin to make it to GenCon. Does anyone know if you actually need any cash to reserve a room? I'll have my taxes, I just won't have them until March, and I don't want to wait to reserve until then

Silver Crusade

Most hotels just take a credit card number, but don't authorize a transaction until you check in. The exception is when it is a discount, prepaid, non-refundable rate.

Best bet is to read the fine print when booking, or call if you want to be sure.

Looking at the GenCon page there is no charge until July, then it is just a day's rate for deposit.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a badge. I may be unable to attend, but if I don't get the ball rolling I definitely wont be able to attend. Plus, you have to buy a badge to book a room.

Anyone got any suggestions as to the best hotel to stay at? closeness vs cost? I don't really care about amenities.

If you don't mind being out all day (meaning 7 AM to 1 AM), you are welcome to share our hotel, Patrick, and we can give you a ride to the convention center each day. My daughter and I stay at a hotel about 15 minutes away from the convention. We can pick you up Wednesday night from the airport (if that's how you're arriving).

No Gen Con for me.
Still trying to figure out how/WHY I'm sending my kids to Space Camp (Because they love it!) when I have a max'd out credit card to pay off! ;P

You guys have fun for me! :)

Taig, You are a gentleman and a badger. I humbly accept your offer, and I anticipate much fun in August!

PS: I am aiming for Weds night flight. I need to do a little research but I will keep you filled in on the dates and over in the Treefort.

I honestly shouldn't be going, but ...

If not now, then when?

I'm tired of not doing things. This is my year of doing, and Orcus take the hindmost...

You go Monkey-man! You go! ;)

I feel you, In 2 weeks I turn 5-0 and dang it, I'm tired of not doing things too! :/

(Of course, my reason is because I'm broke, but still) ;)

Have fun! Your online friends command it! You dare not disappoint people you have never met do you?!?!?! ;)

*shrug*

I'll eat ramen a lot this Spring, and put off purchases of clothes and other sundries. I need to scrape about $800 more to get there, and say another $500 to have a decent time. It can be done with prior planning.

Silver Crusade

I like this new Patrick.

In general, people don't regret sacrifices in order to have experiences. Experiences are always better than stuff anyway.

DO EET MONKEY MAN!!!

Planning is your friend, no doubt about that. :)

Plan well, and live large!

I look forward to hearing about your adventures at GenCon! :D

Me? I'll be planning/paying off debt and praying I can take the family on another adventure/vacation before my daughter graduates High School! ;P

I have no room for stuff anyway. I'm actually thinking about selling some of my gaming collection off already

Whoa Whoa!

Let's not go crazy or anything! 0_0

;P

What's crazy is the size of my gaming collection. I need to at least ditch the 3e stuff. May the Vampire books...

...I may be willing to exchange some cash for elements of your gaming collection you no longer wish to keep.

[RE4]What are you sellin'?[/RE4]

Well, I have an extensive (as in every non-campaign-specific book and a few campaign-specific books as well) 3rd edition hardback collection. I also have a pretty good collection of Vampire the Masquerade (with a few other books of oWoD as well). Now, before the heavy breathing commences, I am having problems laying hands on my 3e books. I made the classic blunder (not as classic as starting a land war in Asia) of sequestering a large portion of them at a friend's house. What can I say, it was in the midst of my initial divorce aftershocks and I was panicking. My friend has been acting weird lately, and when I inquire about traveling to his domicile to fetch my collection he keeps putting me off. I'm not sure what is going on, but this is about the fourth time in my life I have entrusted stuff to a trusted friend and then had them suddenly become non-friends. Not saying that is definitely the case here, but the indications are starting to worry me.

*sigh*. Moral of the story: if you need to store things, rent a damn storage locker. It might be pricey, but you retain command and control.

I am really only interested in the rarest of rare 3e books- the knightly orders of ansalon and bestiary of krynn books really.

I'd be interested in seeing a list of the white wolf books, although the only book I am actively looking for hard copy is the nwod summer court book for changeling the lost.

And yeah...storage is a must. I'm sorry man.

Alas. None of those you mentioned. And my WoD stuff is oWoD. Ah well, I'll hold onto what I have for now. There's a million Facebook pages that hold auctions or let you post up for sale items should I really decide to let them go

It was fun to meet up and chat!

I will work on bringing Patrick down to NYC for a day on the town :)

It was! And I am looking forward to a perusal of the Big Apple

I am becoming an MBTA ninja. I love public transportation!

COOOOOOOL

Public Transport?
Where I live? Not so much.
(ALthough riding the streetcar in the Big Easy for fun is fun. But I wouldn't want to do it all the time.)

But on my one visit to NYC, oh yeah! The public transport was great! Only way to go.

Public transport isn't bad at all. At least the MBTA. It sure beats driving (even though I have to drive an hour to get to the outermost T station). The trip in is perfect for studying or just people watching.

Boston has some great people watching.
