Whoo. Long week this week.

What REH book you going back to zombeh? I've been thinking about rereading the Conan series. I've also been toying with maybe the graphic novels Tim Truman did. I have those as well. As for HPL ... You really can't go wrong. I'm partial to At the Mountains of Madness m'self.

Scarab Sages

Not much for pleasure reading these days, and up through Halloween. As much of my spare time as possible is spent studying for the PE Exam.

I'm even planning to DVR most of the shows I watch and save them up. Except Walking Dead (and Fear the Walking Dead) since I've chosen Sunday night as my break from studying time.

Sad zombie is still sad that del Toro hasn't been able to make his movie version of At the Mountains of Madness.

Because that would have been 11 tons of awesome in a 0.5 ton bag.

I'd be hard pressed to find a more blatantly dishonest statement.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I assure you that this statement is one of our highest goals and something our community team works to bring about daily. Our community is larger and more fast paced these days, and that goal is a really tough one to achieve. We rely on the help of our community to report issues and have patience while we deal with them. What isn't helpful to us and our intentions with this goal (and the rest of our Community Guidelines), is lack of communication about on-going issues. We try to address every message we get through our Website Feedback forum, our inbox (community@paizo.com), and our flag queue. If you see that we're consistently missing something or making a mis-step, the only way to correct this is to tell us what's going on.

Scarab Sages

I'm sorry I feel this way too.

You need to practice your Zen, my zombeh friend. You know the community here is fairly toxic, just ignore those threads that bother you. Why bring more discord into your headspace? Starve the troll, and troll will starve.

I just hang in the OTD these days for Untitled and your thread. If it wasn't for my PbPs id likely never drop by these messageboards anymore. Easier to chat with you elsewhere.

Precisely why I dropped off the FaWtL Facebook group.

Even FaWtL cannot purge the evil of Facebook.

Exactly. If some group causes you issues, why be a part of it? Argument breeds discord. Life is too short.

You speak with great wisdom, my friend. I have been trying to be more zen. That's why I cleaned out my Facebook page (too many liked pages just feeding the negative), and have made greater use of it's Unfollow feature. It really has become a far better place now.

Still, sometimes find myself longing for the days of the edition wars, when it was rules changes we argued about, free of all the social justice crap. It'd be nice to have one place that s$!! didn't force itself upon.

I've thought about dropping it, but I'm still there. Sometimes I share something that doesn't fit well in my main feed.

Like your love for Alton Brown? :)

<Peeks into thread>

Oh, HERE'S where you guys have been hanging out! :)

Carry on with Ramblin,... man.

I'll just be over here, beating away the folks that keep asking me to join Facebook with a stick.

Hm,... I'm gonna need a bigger stick. :/

Yeah it's good for geeky news/subjects

When will FaWtL purge facebooks evil? Is such a thing even possible?

Well, this was nice.

Ok ok,... 9.6 But only because you stuck the landing this time!

And stop laughing! It's cold in my office, that's all! :P

Were you in the pool?

Freehold hates Seinfeld:
One of the few funny lines from that series.

LOL!

Yeah I'm not a big Seinfeld fan myself. I admit that it had a few lines that made me laugh. And that was one of them.

FYI, I used to work A/V at conventions (Audio-Visual for you non-industry folk) and one of our biggest was NATPE (National Assoc of Television Production Executive) (Which is a big long way of saying all of the people that made the TV shows would get together and sell their shows to the highest bidder, the NEXT WEEK was the CABLE show, where all of the channels that had bought the shows would get together and sell their channels to a provider.) :)

Long story short (TOO LATE) NATPE always has a lot of stars at the booths to promote their shows. The ENTIRE cast of Seinfeld was there one year. The ONLY one of the cast NOT laughing and generally looking like he was having a good time? Jerry Sienfeld. ;P

Not at this point, no.

You can push the personal responsibility angle all you want, but the future there is still a dystopia. Personal responsibility isn't the panacea many believe it to be, and believing those who do not agree with your mindset to be typical to the point you can automatically dismiss their views takes you closer to the films(I'd say the third one) than I believe you are comfortable being.

Yet lack of personal responsibility is one of the major issues of our time. Everyone wants to blame others, or outside forces for why they have, or don't have what they seem to think they want or need.

The future is what we make of it. That requires both effort and an attitude that things do not have to be a dystopia.

Not only is this a timeless complaint, there are numerous examples throughout world history where an outside force is very much responsible for issues. Guns, Germs, And Steel explains this quite readily and is an entertaining read in some places.

Some days I definitely feel I should stop wasting so much time on Pathfinder and focus on other things I need to be doing.

Sorry to hear that work has been a pain.
On the plus side, this means that you are in good company! :)

On a related note, THIS is my main reason why I don't do the Evil that is Facebook.

I waste enough time on my PC, (Willingly, I confess)
I do NOT need another time-sponge taking up what little is left of my family time! :)

Wow. I thought I worked some messed-up hours.

And I do. just not THAT messed up. ;P

I'm presuming that you get paid by the hour at least? :)

(I was dumb, signed up for a salary job at University. So I'm not getting paid squat.) :(

I do! Plus sweet sweet OT. It's worth it, I have no social life so weekends don't matter. I just looked at my my biweekly work period that ended Saturday 116.5 hours. This Thursday will be a nice check.

Oh yeah, by the hour. I'm not doing the salary thing any time soon

Man I miss Hourly/OT. :(

At one point, we hit 80 hours /wk so regularly that we stopped commenting about it. We only started talking when we hit 90 hours in a week.

When we passed the 100 hour mark we cheered,... then went back to work,...

;P

Yeah it's just the per diem status that bugs me. I am picking up lots of hours, but I always worry week to week.
