That's sad. The Last Boyscout is an awesome flick. Shane Black script. Tony Scott directed. Starring Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans.

Aberzombie wrote:
Come on, don't you know your Bruce Willis movie quotes?

Nope... only Bruce Willis movies I can recall seeing are sparse parts of Pulp Fiction, Armageddon, parts of Sixth Sense, Sin City, Red, and Unbreakable. And that line doesn't ring a bell from any of those.

That would be why. Can't stand any of the Wayans.

Never any Die Hard movies?

I never watched Die Hard. I did watch a lot of Moonlighting back in the day. Great show, well written.

Sixth Sense was great too. From the one hit wonder....

What?!? Dont like the Wayans?!? WTF?!? Did you have some kind of Wayans induced trauma as a child?!? Did Keenan Ivory shatter one of your childhood dreams? Did Marlon hurt you in some way?

Whatta Tweest!

Scarab Sages

HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka"?!?!?

Aberzombie wrote:

Not enough to qualify, no. Bits and pieces here and there. Parents didn't like them (because of the language), so didn't see them growing up. By the time I was out on my own, I'd lost interest in most non-fantasy or sci-fi movies. Only saw Sin City because one of my roommates was a comic buff, and only saw Red because Ebon and my brother saw it before and convinced me to go (which admittedly it was an awesome movie).

I find them irritating and annoying and not funny.

Moonlighting rocked! Their Taming of the Shrew episode was one of the funniest things to ever appear on TV.

Red was an awesome movie - one of Ernest Borgnine's last.

You poor, deprived man. If ever we meet in real life, I shall do my utmost to remedy that situation. It's only one of the greatest comedies ever made by mankind.

Scarab Sages

Back in the office today. Our meeting that's been going on for over a week finally came to an end yesterday.

Huzzah?

Scarab Sages

Yes, Huzzah!

Because a 20-30 minute commute is waaay better than an hour+ commute.

Scarab Sages

Although....a part of me does not look forward to the same old routine.

Scarab Sages

Agent's of SHIELD continues to impress this season. At least from a story perspective. It was sad, however, to see the writer's of the show engage in the same stupid, petty, political sniping that infects most of Loonywood.

I mean, seriously...

Spoiler:
Does every potential bad guy have to have some subtle link to the Republican Party? I mean, I don't much like them myself these days, but this kind of crap is a little ridiculous.

Scarab Sages

Flash continues to impress as well. I enjoyed their take on Captain Cold. And that chick from the Arrow series was one hottie of a guest star. Barry should totally have done very nasty things with her.

If it's a Wayans production, I can guarantee you I won't find it funny. I've never found their comedy anything but irritating or juvenile.

Scarab Sages

In fact, of the two new comic book-based series on TV this season, I think Flash is far superior to Gotham.

Flash embraces its comic origins in awesome, fan-loving ways.

Gotham is trying too hard to go the Christopher Nolan route of making it as "real life" as possible. I loved Nolan's trilogy, but I prefer my Batman a little more super heroic.

Supernatural, one of my other staples, is very much showing its age. Nothing about it seems new or fresh anymore. Methinks I may not make it through this season.

Every facet of the enemy must be demonized. Indoctrination through entertainment is easily one of the most effective methods. Gets 'em young and gets 'em when they're not expecting it.

Scarab Sages

I also recorded and watched the replay of the Star Wars Rebels intro movie. The extra scene at the beginning with Darth Vader was awesome. It was nice to hear James Earl Jones voice in that role again.

Yup. Loonywood is even better at it than the tobacco companies used to be. It's what makes me have a love/hate relationship with the entertainment industry.

Just to be certain, I looked up the Wayans family on Wiki and looked through a list of their stuff. I haven't seen most of it, but here's what I have:

In Living Color: Didn't interest me.
Major Payne: The ONE thing on this list I not only liked but loved.
My Wife and Kids: Didn't care for it.
Scary Movie: Hated it. The whole "____ Movie" series is wretched.
White Chicks: Saw part of it. Left when I couldn't stand the stupid any longer.

Scarab Sages

In Living Color was ok for a while, but eventually grew stale. Of the others, I haven't seen any.

But I'm Gonna Get You Sucka is f*!@ing awesome!

HR sent out an email today saying we are welcome to wear costumes on Friday. Unfortunately, they included the clarifying word "tasteful".

Damnit! Foiled again!!!

But I do still have my banana costume around here somewhere.....

And, in case I did not make myself clear....

I was explaining to a co-worker the other day after the Dallas loss on Monday Night football...

I have list of teams I always cheer against. Low on the totem pole is Dallas (this co-worker is a Cowboys fan). Number one on the list is a tie between every professional/college sports team in the state of California, and every such team in the state of New York. I don't judge the high school teams, because it's not their fault they have to live in those states. Their parents made them do it.

So basically, wrt suckitude, I rank California right up their with New York.

I think I'd rather be miniaturized and forced to live in the ass-crack of an elephant, then live in either one of those states.

Scarab Sages

If a sports team from California and one from New York play each other, I always pray that reality will suddenly and inexplicably alter so that both teams find a way to lose.

0-0 tie?

Scarab Sages

Tomorrow is Halloween. My favorite holiday. I've got everything ready, but I'm still a bit leery. This will be our first one in the new house, and I'm not sure what our neighborhood is like.

So far, it has not been encouraging. There are only a handful of houses with decorations.

Scarab Sages

Granted, I've had mine up since the first week of October. Maybe I scared some folks.

Orthos wrote:

Naah, a tie is not a loss.

Scarab Sages

Unless....maybe if they had a tie and injuries for every single player on each team....

Scarab Sages

And their coaches...

Scarab Sages

And their cheerleaders.....

Scarab Sages

Maybe even a few fans.....

Scarab Sages

If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife
I'd thank my lucky stars to be livin' here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away

And I'm proud to be an American where as least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the USA

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA
Well, there's pride in every American heart
And it's time to stand and say that

I'm proud to be an American where as least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the USA
