What would the Fortitude DC of this be?

Rules Questions

An idea from these very boards! Basically a big pile of rotting offal, out of which three zombie dire boars will charge.
What would you say the saving throw to resist being sickened is for something like this?
And what's a general rule for working out saving throw DCs? I've looked around but can't seem to find one. :)

I've never had made an encounter like this before (first time GM) so thanks!

The general formula is 10+(half creature's hit dice)+(appropriate ability modifier), for creature abilities.

Since you're not working with an actual creature ability, it's pretty much arbitrary.

Look at the monster generation rules, and pick an "average save DC". It's actually probably pretty low, but that's okay, even one PC out of action made the trap worth it.

Great, thanks! I think I'll go for 15, that was the Primary Save DC for CR4. How long would the sickened effect last, as long as they're in the same room as the pile?

DC15 sounds good.

I would have it last as long as they are in the same room as the pile, or if it's out in the open within like 60 feet, and have it last for an additional d4+1 rounds after leaving the area. I would also say that any character that passes the save is immune to the effects for 24 hours.

Look for spells that sicken or the traps section for traps that give a sickened condition for DC suggestions.
