bardic knowledge. is there any way to boost this sky high?

Advice

I want to make a bard npc inspired by cal hoon tubbs ( from in living color) an obnoxious bard, with knowledge about everyone's business. Can you help?

Play a Catfolk bard for the favored class bonus of +1/2 to bardic knowledge. A 1 level dip in Oracle of lore will allow you to use CHA for knowledge skills instead of INT. There is also a trait that gives +1 to bardic knowledge.

High Intelligence is you're only hope. And Skill Focus for each knowledge skill. What point buy are you working with?

Edit: Whoa.. Never mind.

Grand Lodge

Definitely Catfolk Lore Oracle/Archivist Bard.

You can even dump intelligence, and still be fantastic at it.

Irori's Deific Obedience feat lets you add +4 sacred or profane bonus on all Knowledge checks.

Very cool. Just the stuff i was looking for :)

Sovereign Court

I remember someone mentioning the Pagent of the Peacock masterpiece to use bluff for your knowledge checks, which can be combined with your performance skill bonus stuff.

How does that work? You fake your way through a story?

Ah, yes. Pagent of the Peacock gives +4 to Bluff checks and then lets you use Bluff in place of any Intelligence skill check. From there you could probably use a Versatile Performance in place of Bluff to make Knowledge checks. A wee bit convoluted but unless I'm missing something, it's doable. Basically you shake your hips and convince people that you're actually an expert about what you're talking about.

So then you bluff instead of knowledge, cast "Glibness" and LIE your butt off... lol.

Oh wow, crazy stuff!

Grand Lodge

Yup. They got to it before me. I am working on a potp bard for pfs. It is not just know checks. Its appraise, spell craft, or any int based check. You just need 1 point to be trained and then use your bluff skill in place of it. You make the wizard look stupid lol.

I personally think of it as coming up with plausible lies based on the little you happen to know through being a bard, and then later on finding out you happen to be right. IRL I have done this a ton of times.

Grand Lodge

Here is the character I am making for PFS that Does PoTP to bluff her way through everything.

Fake it till you make it Bard!

PotP looks nice, but do you get your Bardic Knowledge bonus to it since it's nit a Knowledge skill check being made, but a Bluff?

Any character/race that's older then 100 years can get the feat that adds +2 to knowledge rolls.
So I'd suggest some elf bard.

Two level dip into Mindchemist for Perfect Recall which doubles your int bonus for knowledge skill checks. Combines well with a mutagen to boost your int.

This doesn't technically work. Glibness gives a bonus to a specific use of Bluff, not the skill as a whole.

The Pageant of the Peacock trick is still excellent, mind you, but this doesn't help.

@ Azten potp doesn't let you add half your bard level true. But you can make know skills untrained. And if you put a point in spellcraft and linguistic you can then use potp to bluff those skills at a higher bonus. Appraise can be done untrained. It basically turns Into skills into cha skills. Awesome for a bard.

the human feat improvisation stacks with bardic knowledge, too. If you don't train all of the knowledges.

Grand Lodge

It does but it takes a fear verses a spell known. As a human ill waste the spell and get it back later with favored class bonus.

It works if you really consider what's happening here. Pageant of the Peacock lets you "bluff" your way through Int checks and Int-based skills. The motif is that you're showing off your high social status and heritage to "pass off" your knowledge as being more believable than someone else. In other words, "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV" and then proceed to give medical advise. But the key thing, here, is that your medical advise is actually true. How can that be, if you were spouting out medical advise with very limited actual medical knowledge? Because you're such a good liar, you bluffed the universe and succeeded. This is Quantum Actualization at its finest:

You: This monster has a resistance to Fire.
Universe: Really? I never knew that.

You got the whole universe to believe your BS. I'd totally let glibness work on that.

Liberty's Edge

That's a potentially legitimate interpretation on a thematic level...but the rules simply don't work that way.

And it's not quite how I interpret that power working thematically either.
