Questions about gaining boons

1. Can I gain boons by playing at tables that occur at cons or anyway by playing or is it restricted to GMing?

2. I read that I can get the Dhampir boon by GMing certain society games? Is that true? And if so how do I do it?

3. Can I get boons by attending local events that are happening at my location but are not cons? For example my local society is having a big get-together that will be having "special" games for pathfinders to participate in.

Most boons are prizes given out as support by Paizo to larger events (I think it is a minimum of 15 tables for the event - whether it is one day or more).

GMs at those games will also get a nice boon for running games at those events.

I haven't really heard of Dhampir boons being awarded/won for a while now.

2. Dhampir boons were for the Beginner Box Bash, which happened in October several years ago. They were a one time thing, and I highly doubt they will ever come back. Sorry.

If they were going to make a reappearance it probably would have been along with the dhampir splatbook.

Doe Paizo have a reputation of not bringing back past things at all?

PFS is only in its 5th (6th) Season. There's still plenty of opportunity for new stuff before bringing back old stuff.

It's not a matter of not bringing back past things... The issue is that paizo would rather bring in NEW things. The last bunch of race boons have been in the elemental plane touched theme, which should indicate the next boon will be sylph. Presumably the next boons after that will be reflection the Osirian and Iron Gods seasons.

Race boons typically tend to be tied to theme of the year, and it's not the Year of the Vampire. About the only way you're going to get ahold of one now is Ebay.

The boon is actually a Sylph/Suli boon, according to the email I got from the Conline folks. On it's own it's a Sylph, but you can combine it with an Ifrit, Undine, and Oread boon to turn it into a Suli boon.

I was not aware that combining those four boons had been made into an official option yet. If you used any of the other three, that's probably a no go.

Hi, I'm new to the campaign and my daughter was interested in playing a Kitsune, so I am wondering what we would have to do to earn a Kitsune boon?

I looked around the forums and it seems that we should attend a convention or two. But are there specific modules that we should try to play that give out this boon? Or do I have to DM some games to earn it? Any specific advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

And if it is no longer possible, or likely, to earn this boon, I'd like to know that, too, so we can focus on other ideas instead.

Kitsune boons were from a yr or 2 ago

they were given at Gen con and some other large con's mostly as rewards to gm's...

Greetings, Ozmar! Welcome to the Society =).

Generally speaking, boons that open up new character races are offered to GMs at large events, such as Conventions, in appreciation for their efforts. Kitsune boons came in two forms, during last season and the season before that. One opens up kitsune, and the other was a "triple race boon", giving you one of 3 options, including kitsune.

This season seems focused on Elemental races, and I have no clue what's coming next season, so your best bet for now would be to trade with someone else who has one. There is a boon trading thread here in this forum, and if you attend a Convention you might meet ppl you can trade with in person.

You're not out of luck, but there are probably fewer kitsune boons out there right now, so it'll be more difficult than not. But not impossible. Definitely an achievable goal.
