is there a class/way to specialize on swarms?
How to power-up 'em?

thank you for your time :3 i'm learning!

and remember that Banjo is the only God... convert yourself today and get a bonus to divine spellcasting (+1 at 4th, then +1 every two level thereafter)

Grand Lodge

Summon focused Druid, or Pestilence Bloodline Sorcerer.

Lantern Lodge

Alchemist and Witch can cast Vomit Swarm, but I can't think of any paizo classes or archetypes that have any special ability with swarms.

There is a 3rd Party Summoner Archetype called the Swarm Sculptor, but I have no idea if it's any good.

thank you both...witch seems to get control earlier... but as i see.. i must focus on summonings... so maybe better a master summoner maybe

Sovereign Court

It seems that the Augment Summoning feat would boost summoned swarms, since those are [summon] spells.

Note that boosting the swarm's Constitution also increases the DC of its abilities.

In addition, the Conjurer wizard extends the duration of summon spells by a number of rounds. This is relevant for Summon Swarm spells that have a duraction of 2+Concentration rounds; yours last longer, for good or ill.

Grand Lodge

Vomit Swarm is a really good spell, so Witch is a decent option.

with summon swarm exactly what you can summon? (a swarm ok, but of which creatures?)

Grand Lodge

Summon Swarm gets you a swarm of bats, rats, or spiders.

With the Summon swarm spell you can summon bats, rats, or spiders.

With Vomit Swarm, Spiders, Wasps, or Army Ants depending on level.

There is also Inscect Plague, Creeping Doom, Mad Monkeys, Rain of Frogs, Cape of Wasps, and Swarm Skin

Grand Lodge

Druid really gets you the most Swarm Summoning spells.

so the best choice for specialize in swarm is Master Summoner...

Grand Lodge

Druid, that is focused on Summoning, would be the best.

Scarab Sages

Druid, with Witch taking second place just from the awesomeness of vomit swarm.

so druid.. have you some advice on how focus on summonings, what races fit better, straight druid or archetype? (if it's necessary i will open a thread for build this druid)

Silver Crusade

.

what?

Scarab Sages

Swamp druid is thematic, and gives you DR vs swarms if yo loose control of it for any reason.

As for feats, Augment Summoning is good, Moonlight & Starlight Summons for overcoming DR, If you are a Half Orc, Ferocious Summons will let swarms last longer as they keep going until -con instead of disappearing at 0hp.

Master summoner doesn't really have anything for this other than the free Augment Summoning feat. They can't use their summon monster spell-like ability to summon swarms unless they appear on some variant summon monster spell list somewhere.

Better off with druid or witch, with vermin bloodline sorcerer a distant third.

Oh, niiiice.

Too bad skeleton summoner only works on summon monster spells. Summoning a pack of ferocious skeletal monkeys would be pretty amazing. (Think the jungle pygmies from The Mummy Returns.)

can be Vomit Swarm affected by Summons Feats?

Scarab Sages

It's a conjuration (summoning) spell, I don't see why not.

so as a witch i can take summoning feats too... so i'm wondering why druid is better for summon swarms??

Scarab Sages

Mostly Moonlight and Starlight summons which require you to have SNA.

understood :) thank you-!

Imma just throw this out there:

Swarm fighting gets REALLY funny when you have a Barb in the party with the Hive Totems. He is now a terrifying raging barbarian coated in swarms that seem to be ignoring him.

I recommend the Sleeves of Many Garments. for 200g you can get any non-magical outfit you want whenever you want it. Like the Swarmsuit that gives DR10/- against swarms of Fine creatures and DR5/- against swarms of Diminutive creatures. You can also magically take it off removing the half speed penalty whenever you want.
