Oh, cool. Sorry. The way you worded it made it sound like you might have done it during the actual encounter. Seems you knew exactly what you were doing. My bad. :)

I have only just finished part three and of all of the cards I have I would say Augury has had the greatest impact on the game. As soon as you realise there is basically no incentive to ever fight a monster unless you really have to it helps to cycle them to the bottom, especially in monster heavy locations like the Woods.

I have also made a lot of use of the Spyglass with Ezren. Putting a magic item/spell on top of the deck and then having your encounter and getting a second free encounter makes for some fast searching, something he lacks with no blessings. I have just picked up my swipe so grabbing those high str or dex magic weapons to proc his ability just became a lot easier as well.

You will find that you will see a lot of small damage here and there. It's a great way to get around it. I'm a fan on the crown since most of my characters are not that great at Charisma and it comes around quite a bit.

Since I tend to have phenomenally bad luck when it comes to acquiring good cards (mostly my bard waves at them as they pass her by) I have a lot of love for the basic Sage - or in my case a Book Imp, which is functionally identical. That extra d6 to Wisdom can help turn a humiliating defeat at the hands of a Siren into a very slim chance of success.. (even in AP 4..) and the extra bonus to Intelligence means I only fail my check to acquire by 1 instead of 3 or 4.

..which is something, I guess.

Midway through first adventure, and from our group's viewpoint Holy Candle is our favorite card. Everyone is all smiles as soon as it turns up. And we start singing "Holy Diver" for some reason.
