I suppose that is because patriotism in Canada, as well as the other dominions like Australia and New Zealand, is assumed. We don't need to demonstrate it by singing the same song over and over. We are all a bit laid back for that. We don't worry about oaths of allegiance and so on. Lot less stress that way.
Just so you know I'm from Australia, not Canada, in the interests of disclosure. But I like Canada.

What's so strange about that? More than 50% of my country doesn't know our current national anthem (which is one of the stupidest anthems ever), some 10% still think that the Yugoslavian anthem is still our anthem. And too bat that it isn't. It was pretty awesome.

I was at a picket line recently where they sang "Solidarity Forever." I knew the first three verses, but they just kept going...and going...and going.
Well, at least I know more verses than I do of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Nothing is strange about it, just that the "All together now" part might come off a little thin, unless they've got a Pete-Seeger-I-teach-you-the-words-line-by-line-right-before-we-sing-them type.
(Can't find any good illustrative videos, alas.)

Well, we set our national anthem to the tune of an old drinking song. Easier to learn, harder to forge and it's possible to sing while you're three sheets to the wind.

He used to some to my elementary school and sing songs and chat with us. He was a cool guy.

A merger between the United States and Canada would be absolutely terrible for American agriculture-- the average temperature in a combined United States of North America would be significantly lower than in the current USA. Think of how that will drastically shorten the growing season in the Farm Belt!
On the plus side, lower average national temperatures could lower energy consumption for air conditioning. That could be a way to help counterbalance global warming.
Oh, and since the population density would be much lower in a USNA vs. the old USA, we could all look forward to having much larger yards!
Sounds good! Sign me up!
