TPK's Demonologist Hybrid/Base Class.... - says it is both a base class AND a hybrid class!?!? though it doesn't say spell out concretely what it is a hybrid of. I'd say Summoner as there is mention of not using eidolons but rather demons, and using witch hexes. Summoner/Witch?

![]() |

Yeah, the demonologist is a mix of the summoner and witch, yet still feels like its own class. More versatile than either, but not as directly powerful in summoning or hexes than those two classes. But, you get specialized demonic servants, magic circle powers and a ton of infernal hexes, some of which are pretty damn cool. I'd say very flavorful and solid addition to a party (or as a wicked villain).

They're on a timer, and it hadn't posted yet when I made the earlier comment. :D
Thanks for catching it!!

I added them both but shouldn't those be listed as hybrids or alternates as they draw from existing class features primarily?
That's not really my call, it's not my list. :D
The RuneGuard clearly *isn't* an alternate ranger, despite using a lot of ranger numbers as shorthand. That's a simple way to present a class, but there's nothing about the base attack bonus, saves, skill points/level, starting age, or starting money that's uniquely ranger-ish. The skill and skill points/level are changed, anyway.
It's also pretty clearly not an alternate witch, since it's a martial class designed to fight with weapons. It does have hexes, which only shamans and witches (and hexcrafters, and hellions, and maybe other archetypes and or 3pp classes) get, but that's mostly because they're an underexplored concept. Lots of classes have spells, for example, which doesn't really make them hybrids or alternates of each other.
Given its not thematically at all a ranger, and is not going to play in any way like a spell caster (shaman/witch), I don't really think it's a hybrid of those either.
These are clearly abbreviated class descriptions, but the *intent* is certainly to provide new base classes that, at the game table, will produce a unique play experience despite being built on new ways to use existing rules.

Engineer (Rogue Genius Games)
Archivist (Ascension Games)
Saboteur (Ascension Games)
Vanguard (Ascension Games)
Question: For the "Four Horsemen Presents" line you would still like the publisher listed as "Rogue Genius Games", correct? (At the moment I made a note saying "Four Horsemen Present")

Woo! That's a good round number!

For not I have coined the term "Quick Base Class" for what I am doing with the "Base class in two paragraphs and one sentence" posts, which would currently include the Beastshifter, Sigil Lord, Rune Guard, Thaumaturge.
That is, a class that's a fully function class that provides a different play style at the table, but borrows numerical values and game mechanics from existing sources rather than create them whole cloth.

@ Owen; I have a question about the Engineer. What exactly is it's chassis? I can hardly say no to class books from RGG but I have the Tinker, Mechamage, Netjacker and Vanguard; Four classes that maintain pet constructs. Besides that I have the Steamwright, Gearhead, Warsmith, Cyborg, Technician, Golemoid, and Machinesmith as well as eyeballing the Gadgeteer. I'm up to my eyeballs in classes that are technomancers or artificers that range from magical constructs, steam powered devices, and technomagic to scifi electric powered stuff, so for me its important to ask what the Engineer offers.

I can field this question actually. Funny enough, you helped inspired the engineer's creation! Here's an excerpt from your review of the Construct Companion.
This book covers a lot of bases. Not only can you cover golems and objects but you can also animate vehicles and my personal favorite aspect of the entire book; Complex construct modifications which includes Mobile Suit Golem. I repeat MOBILE SUIT GOLEM. Unfortunately it needs Wish to make one. (at that point I don't need a giant robot anymore!) There's also some new templates to make any creature into a golemized creature.
...
About the only thing I'm a bit sore about is the lack of a straight Iron Man class or archetype or the same with mobile suits. I'm tired of having to wait forever to wear a golem suit. Other than that this book covers a lot and has a lot to work with.
I quite agreed with you that we could really use a class that was all about wearing construct suits similar to the mobile suit golem construct modification. So the chassis is built around that concept.

I *just* realized this doesn't include the freebooter or monster slayer from Freeport: City of Adventure, which are significantly different from the old Pathfinder Companion versions.
In fact, the FCoA version of the Noble is so different from the old noble, I might argue there should be two Noble entries for GR.
Also, there's the cultist class in that same book, which is an npc class but has different options for ratfolk that cause them to treat it as a base class.

I've written up the Sighted Seeker as a new prestige archetype class (however, you are tracking them).

I added it to the rebuild list. Made note of the prestige rebuild. Thanks! :-)
