Apparently it crossed malasian peninsula and turned back to the malacca straites with transponder off dropping in altitude...across a region where a U.S. missile frigate was operating.

Shrug. Stupid/crazy people will remain stupid/crazy.

This particular form of stupidity should be relatively easy to deal with, though. Unless the U.S. missile frigate was armed with a James Bond disintegration ray,... well, missile strikes produce debris. The area has been combed for days looking for the sort of debris one would expect from an in-air explosion of the type produced by an onboard terrorist's bomb, which is basically the same type that a missile hit would produce. And this multinational search force has not found any such debris.

So while it's perfectly possible for crazy/stupid people to have crazy/stupid suspicions, there's no reason for sensible people to take them seriously in any way.

Mark my words. The plane vanished, but reappeared 24 years earlier over the Philippines where it crashed. Fragments of the plane were brought to Boeing's secret research facility and were reverse-engineered to produce the Boeing-777 only a scant few years later.

In less conspiratorial news (or is it?), my fingers consistently insist on spelling Boeing as Boing!

The Exchange

From what I can tell this one has three things going for it. The presence of a us missile frigate who were in the area early on (apparently they offered to help search), the idea that the jet turned off its transponder and dropped altitude before turning back from its course, and the suggestion the pilot was Muslim.

I'm calling MILLENNIUM on the whole affair.

How about the 4 hours of engine data that is supposed to exist after the transponder went off the air.

article

article denying that

And to balance out Yellowdingo, a friend of mine is convinced the Chinese shot it down, even more so after they discovered those satellite images of 'floating debris'.

I hope we do find out what happened, but I'm not holding my breath, either.

The Exchange

The possibility it was shot down to prevent a secret cargo from reaching china is the alteration on the theme. So we have a tie in with the theft of nasa secrets by an Iranian engineer working with nasa. While most of the documents were discovered in a storage facility in the USA accidentaly, more were shipped on to Iran. This ties in with the Iranians on the plane under stolen passports. They are shipping the documents to a Chinese buyer. The USA shoots down the plane to prevent the documents from going to China.

So the minor fact that your scenario is physically impossible is trumped by the suggestion that the pilot MAY have been Muslim?

Think about who you're talking to.

This doesn't even rate on the "physically impossible" scale.

Yeah, the question was mostly rhetorical. I just wanted to find out if he had any inkling how deep the rabbit hole went.

umm... really?

I live in the quantum reality where most of those theories are true. You see the Iranian engineer stole the NASA data related to the Roswellian information related to the collaboration of aliens with the US government to create US-operated space vehicles. He passed that information along, through a series of dead-drops, to his handlers who got the information to one of their 'assets' (the muslim pilot). He, as most pilots do, got through security without his bags being searched in one of the least secure airports in the hemisphere. His mission, naturally, was to hand the data over to the Chinese... as part of a Chinese/Iranian alliance to ensure that the Chinese in the UN Security Council would block any sanctions or UN approval of any US military aggression towards Iran.

Unfortunately, the US got wind of the plan and moved assets in place - the aforementioned Frigate. Our skilled pilot shut off his transponder and did what evasive maneuvering he could to save his aircraft and data. But the wily US bastards (yes, I am one) realised that downing passenger aircraft is generally frowned upon so Plan B was enacted. The US govt contacted their alien allies (the greys not those green guys) who flew over and 'vanished' the aircraft... leaving it as yet another mysterious disappearance that could not be tied to the Frigate or the US due to the lack of evidence.

The net results of this are complex and globally impactful so I can't explain them all to you but I can share with you the indicators in the next 18 months that will prove everything I've said is correct... You'll see average beard lengths grow and ladies' hem-lines shorten.

Peter Jackson New Zealand spent three movies -- six, now -- exploring Middle Earth. Great visuals, marvelous entertainment, and it's still not a travel documentary.

This piece of 'where's waldo' increased in area meaning the jet could be on its way to anywhere it can reach on a single tank of gas. As a rumor it has 'millitary spotted unidentified jet on radar' and directly conflicts with the one where a U.S. Missile frigate shot it down and are keeping quiet about it. This version has the added benifit of a 9-11 repeat tagged to it.

Alas, some of us only discovered that when the travel agent stared back and said "I don't have Edoras International Airport on my list of destinations". They should have put a disclaimer on those movies :(

:::Looks at area on globe::: Holy $#@%^#@!

I think I prefer aliens.

The new rumor is this is sky piracy and their ride got jacked...so Indian millitary is looking for airports and landing strips.

That's NOT new. That's been around since the first day the plane vanished. From all indications, they already searched that area.

The Exchange

Found nothing?

Well, they are still looking in that huge area.

Hm. OK, here's a conspiracy theory: the searchers do know where the plane is...but what a great chance to search 'enemy' territory!

I'm still puling for aliens though...

Note: I will kid around about conspiracy theories, however...

I do feel for those who are waiting for answers about friends, family, and other loved ones. If my semi-serious comment about using the search for personal reasons is true, all involved need to be prosecuted.

That also implies when we finally find out the truth about the missing plane, we're all going to feel let down and disappointed.

Well, it looks like the search is done.

Patient zero of the zombie plague was on board.

As the infection spread and began to take over the plane, the pilots secured the cockpit and wisely decided to crash the plane in water that was a deep and as far from land as they could reach. They turned off transponders and communications for fear that rescuers could catch the plague and bring it back to civilization.

While tragic, I think we should consider those on board as heroes for having saved humanity.
