So now even I am confused :-)
Shall we do it as per the description of Web or as per your flowchart. I am ok either way.
Sorry to confuse the issue more then necessary.
Go ahead and use your CM bonus if you'd like. You were correct. I misread the web description.

Dorian Maule |

Ya know, I can't think of anything to contribute. Just consider my turn skipped. The elemental is carrying on out of my sight, and Dorian isn't quite the charge in and get stuck type. I'm good for now.

Hallvarðr |

Seems like the game is stuck

DM Doomed Hero |

No, I was just very busy.
I'm moving into a new position at work. Sunday is my last day in the old one. I also have a friend from out of town visiting this week. I thought I would still have time to post, but I was wrong until about 15 minutes ago.
Update post incoming.

Hallvarðr |

I was more talking the other players.

DM Doomed Hero |

So the thread 1 party has a potion of fire breathing being delivered at the end of the round. Who gets it?

Dorian Maule |

"Alright everyone. Heads up! I will be summoning forth a fire elemental to burn the webbing. However, I do not speak Ignan beyond a couple of words and phrases. And I am pretty sure I don't quite have the inflection right. However, the ritual of summoning does create a certain...emphatic link that helps alleviate misunderstandings."
Dorian draws forth most of what remains of the power that allows him to control the planar boundaries and summons a small fire elemenal from a portal. And in doing so returns the mudman's spirit to it's home. It's mucky shell falling to the floor, still held by the thick strands of webbing.
Addressing the flying mote of incendiary ectoplasma Dorian tries to use what Ignan he can scrounge up.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Hello friend, we are having a Spider problem. Would you be so kind as to remove the Webbing in our path that way? Thank you. , Pointing beyond the secret passage.
Nar stands firm, keen on protecting Dorian from surprise.

Dorian Maule |

Yup. But now I have proof I rolled that 28
Ow, and btw. I didn't tell the elemental to avoid burning (around) humanoids because that is actually a detail he would forget. With that 8 wisdom and all...

Torgan Axebearer |

That will be fun.
Torgan is not suspecting a "betrayal" at this moment. But he will retaliate and not against the elemental - if he gets seriously burned but still breathes... ;-)
@DM> What is the light grey area? The spider is 15x15ft or the letter "S" indicates possible positions for the spider to be in?

DM Doomed Hero |

The spider is a Huge creature (15x15)
The light grey area is where the terrain is irregular. Those are the raised parts of the floor I described during the establishing description of the spider's lair. Right now the spider is 10 feet up.

DM Doomed Hero |

No, it is on top of a 10 foot rise. You'd need 5 more feet of reach to threaten it. You will need to use a ranged weapon, a reach weapon, or climb.

Cadeyrn Griogal |

@GM, what does the potion of Dragon's Breath do?
Does it work like the spell Dragon's Breath (if so at what caster lvl & which type?) or is it an elixir of Fire Breath or is it like the spell Fire Breath (if so at what caster lvl?) or still something else?
@Dvalin, want to become a fire breathing dwarf?

Dvalin |

@Dvalin, want to become a fire breathing dwarf?
Next round he can use the potion, but Dvalin's courage is directly proportional to his amount of current resources.

Cadeyrn Griogal |

Ok, so single target 4d6 fire blasts up to 3 times within a timespan of 1 hour.
Might be best for you then Dvalin. If we can clear enough of the webbing with fire from the torches, you can shoot the blasts at the spider then?

DM Doomed Hero |

Alright, thanks for checking in. I'll update the game when I get home from work.

Bladud |

So just to clarify, BLadud could use his move to burn the webbing in the square he occupies, then a standard to clear all weapons within his reach. Does that include the squares in his reach "dead zone" or only squares he can make an attack into?

DM Doomed Hero |

Move- The square you're in.
Standard- The spaces you Threaten with your source of fire. (normally this includes the square you are in, but in your case, because your fire source is strapped to a reach weapon, it does not).
Magical fire sources will clear the webbing in the areas they effect.

DM Doomed Hero |

I'm on vacation through the fifth with limited internet access. I'll try to get an update in when I can, but my posting rate will be lower than usual.

DM Doomed Hero |

No kidding. :D
Got a few minutes today. Got an update in. It changes a few things, especially for Party 2, so please check in even if you've already taken your turn.

DM Doomed Hero |

Checking in. Sorry I've been absent. I need a vacation from my vacation. I'll kick start the game tomorrow.

DM Doomed Hero |

I've spent the last hour going over the gameplay thread to defamiliarize myself with the things that were happening. I made a chart of everyone's actions so far. It revealed why things were so confusing.
I didn't post a round-by round update and it made people confused what round we were on. There was a lot of delaying actions, and the spider acting out of sequence further threw people off.
Hal, for instance, was posting actions in both groups, not just his own, and has posted 7 actions so far (lots of struggling against webbing).
Dvalin, in contrast, has only posted two actual actions because he was waiting for someone to tell him that it was his turn.
The end result of this is that while each player should have taken 3 rounds worth of actions so far (plus a partial surprise round action), some have only posted twice, and some have posted more than 3 times.
This is my fault and I'm fixing it. Here is a round-by round breakdown of the actual actions taken by each character so far.
Round By Round Summery So Far- (adjusted by me to make things make actual sense and be in the right order).
Nisfeollyn: (r0) Moved, drew bow, sent familiar to scout, (r1) delayed, waiting for fire to clear webs, (r2) delayed again, (r3) moved in with two lit torches
Hal: (r0) Moved, (r1) broke free of webbing, drew crossbow, moved, (r2) struggled against webbing, (r3) freed by fire elemental
Cad: (r0) Moved, (r1) moved, cast Lead Blades, (r2) delayed, waiting for fire to be lit, (r3) moved, attacked spider
Spider! (r0) grabbed Bal and hauled him into the cave, (r1) bit/grappled Bal, (r2) bit/grappled Bal, (r3) webbed Bladud,
Dvalin: (r0) Moved, (r1) lit Bladud's torch-spear, (r2) moved, (r3)
Lyla: (r0) Moved, (r1) delayed (r2) readied to cast Create Water, (r3) none yet
Torgan: (r0) Cast Magic Weapon (r1) moved through webbing, (r2) moved, got stuck in webs, (r3) hit spider, got hit by spider's retaliatory strike
Dorian: (r0) Moved, directed mud elemental, (r1) delayed (r2) summoned fire elemental, directed it, (r3) none yet
Bladud: (r0) Moved, (r1) made makeshift torch on the end of his spear, (r2) burned webbing, moved, (r3) hit spider, got hit by spider's retaliatory attack, (r4) cleared webbing with fire,

DM Doomed Hero |

So, we are currently at the end of Round 3.
Dorian and Lyla have yet to act. Bladud has pre-posted his Round 4 action. (I'd like to ret-con that just so we are all on the same page. Bladud, you will need to repost your "clear the webbing" action if you'd like to do that in round 4)
Dorian and Bladud (for round 3), and Nis, Hal and Cad (for round 4) may take their actions.
I'm going to add action summaries to the initiative tracker to keep this from happening in the future.
Take it away folks.

Dorian Maule |

Thank you for taking the effort of digging through it. This is muuuuch better. Fresh start, here we go!
Hey, with this being a boss fight. Can we use full round action perception checks to find glowing red spots? (ranged group aid another, DC 25 or something?)

DM Doomed Hero |

You mean the spider's eyes?
They were reflecting light when the cave was dark. Now there are quite a few light sources in there. The spider is very clearly visible. It's just up on a ten foot high mound of earth.
The earth mounds are covered in webbing, but are actually fairly easy to climb if one can avoid getting stuck.

Dorian Maule |

No I mean like a video-game boss-fight. There's always a weak spot.
Figured I'd suggest some whimsy, as well as some actions for those that don't have the reach/range to help. As aid another is usually pretty restrictive. And boss fights are pretty much ensured terrain dis-advantage for us.

DM Doomed Hero |

Gotcha.
Well, the spider's whole nest is pretty flammable. That's something you might be able to work with.

Bladud |

So, just to make sure i have all my facts straight. Bladud is Entangled, and Nis has cleared the squares adjacent to him with his torch. Bladud could take a move action to clear the webbing in his own square. Would that free him from the Entangle?
