Level 4 Paladin Shopping

Advice

Hello everyone,

Our GM asked us to prepare our "whislist" for the next session because right now we can spend some time resting and Shopping.

I am playing a Level 4 Paladin (Sacred Servant of Iomedae/Vengeance) in the RotRL and have around 4k gold to spend but don't know what I should get next.

His stats:

Str:20
Dex:12
Con:16
Int:13
Wis:11
Cha:20

Feats: Fey Foundling , Power Attack , Combat Expertise (at Level 5)

Equipment:
Greatsword
Warhammer
MWK Composite Longbow (+4 str)
Breastplate +1
Ring of Protection +1
Amulet of Natural Armor +1

Any advice what I should buy ? Or if I should save money for something "bigger" ?

I was thinking about replacing the breastplate with a full-plate and maybe getting a longsword + shield. Because last session I got hit quite hard.

The only problem of going high ac for tanks is this: If the enemy knows that he cannot hit you, he will just go attack your other party members. Like if you were missing 60% of the time vs someone would you bother attacking them?

I would just suggest to get either a +1 weapon (2k something) or belt of con+2 (4k gp) not sure if you can buy the belt, forgot the value limits in Sandpoint.

+1 Nodachi / Falchion and a Handy Hoversack.

Buying a masterwork Full plate (Hellknight plate even better) is an alternative to a Handy Hoversack.

If you really want a shield, take a quickdraw shield and the feat quickdraw at 5th lvl, along with a scimitar. You can attack by wielding the scimitar two-handed, and before ending your turn you can draw your shield as a free action for the AC boost. Then on your turn sheathe the shield as a free action. Rince and repeat.

It is a bit cheesy, but is is the only condition I would use a shield with your paladin. Losing the x1.5 Str to damage hurts a lot.

O gosh, I can only imagine a big huge paladin in full-plate prancing around a mall looking for stuff to buy...

Stuff that can be useful are knick-nacks; basically, getting masterwork versions of your weapon in cold iron, silver; getting a wayfinder (love those); buying a masterwork backpack/handy haversack.

Check the "archives of nethys" website, they have much more comprehensive lists of weird items than the d20pfsrd.

At this point, I've got to say that I'm kinda bored of the "big six" stuff, and prefer weirdness. If you're already effective (and your stats seems to indicate you should be), buy something interesting instead of just "better".

@ XmorsX: I would love a "handy hoversack". All snuggly in my bag, just floating around. That would be sweet.

It is an all-terrain sack. Useful for every wandering adventurer. ;)

Ok, I am totally creating a custom item for small (and smaller) creatures to hover in. Probably a continuous levitation or something similar.

But this aint helpful to the OP. In you case, if you're good in combat, dont worry about the "big six" stuff, be creative. If you ahve any specifics, we can help you find the weird & fun pathfinder items.

I am also playing a Pali in the RotRL but we are level 7.

I would recommend a pearl of power for the extra spell and/or a + weapon.

I gotta tell you, I invested a lot in my armor and shield at the start but quickly realized my damage was suffering badly. My character is a sacred shield/bodyguard type so I gave up a lot of damage loosing my offensive smite for a defensive smite. I ended up getting a + 1 keen scimitar that really helped boost my damage. My character is a bodyguard so damage is not my main focus but I still need to be a threat.

Actually my AC wasn't the highest but it should be now , and especially my HP are crazy in comparison to the rest of the Group.

About the performance , yes he is so effective it's crazy and I've already heard complaints from the party and had to "explain myself" why I do more damage , have more health and so on ...

I don't have to go shopping in sandpoint it seems like we have some time (don't know what will happen next though) so I could take a trip to magnimar.

We have a "group piggy bank" for stuff like wands and so on, maybe we will purchase the haversack from it and then I can spend my money on a +1 weapon and a new armor

My paladin is pretty vain, so I could use a magical razor :D

I don't have to care about my clothes because we have a really friendly bard in the group who keeps them clean and the armor / weapon shiny
