raging brutality feat and thrown weapons

Rules Questions

if you can not use power attack with a thrown weapon then why can you use raging brutality feat with thrown weapons yet you must be using the power attack feat.

so an ability that can only be used with a feat that cannot be used for the weapon?

I think I see your point. The way Power Attack is written it is unclear if it can be used with Thrown Weapons, leaning towards it cannot. But Raging Brutality implies that it can.

It seems a contradiction in the rules. I would probably just allow Power Attack to be applied to thrown weapons, its not as though they don't already suck, but I don't believe the rules support that position.

just a bump to ssee if anyone even cares about this...

shameless bump again

guess nobody care about this..

Power Attack wrote:

Benefit: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls. This bonus to damage is increased by half (+50%) if you are making an attack with a two-handed weapon, a one handed weapon using two hands, or a primary natural weapon that adds 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier on damage rolls. This bonus to damage is halved (–50%) if you are making an attack with an off-hand weapon or secondary natural weapon.

When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every 4 points thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2.

You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.

The way I read this, you can choose to use Power Attack, but it does not affect your thrown weapons' attack or damage rolls. However, you are still using Power Attack, so if you have Raging Brutality you can add your Constitution bonus to thrown weapon damage rolls.

So, when using Raging Brutality, your melee attacks are at -X attack, +Y damage, and +Con damage (where X and Y are your Power Attack penalty and bonus, respectively), and your thrown weapon attacks are at +Con damage with no other special modifiers. (Normal modifiers such as Strength to damage and Dexterity to attack rolls, of course, still apply.)

well that may suck the character is also using two-handed thrower allowing for the two-handed wielding bonus to damage for thrown weapons.

Then it'd get both +Con and 1.5x Str instead of just +Con and the usual 1x Str.

And 1.5 the con bonus.
