This whole opera scenario got me thinking about a scene from an old movie. It was a series of "heist movies" and this particular scene was in an opera house during a performance. Its in danish, but theres not a whole lot of speaking and you dont really need to know what they say.
The full proper clip used to be on youtube, but all I could find now was a video with the norwegian copy playing side by side with it for comparison, but it will have to do.
Caladin of the Endless Dream |
I will be gone from Friday till potentially Monday evening if the weather is good. Botting instructions are as follows.
Attack with bow when it is advantageous. It is the primary method of attack.
Use glave for flanking when asked or creatures with notable slashing DR.
For Ease of Serene have her cast Guidance on Caladin every round when possible. Using Defensive casting when needed.
Caladin works hard to preserve the lives of his fellow pathfinders. Attempts to lay on hands them when down or himself when at less that 5 HP.

Sorry for my delay, everyone! Worked on the update yesterday until a pounding headache made it impossible to look at the screen anymore. >_<
Big update to be posted soon!

Gah, migrains suck! Sorry about my delay, the week has been very busy....
Also, by Asmodeus' beard! That's a hell of a crit if I saw one!

Apologies again, we've got a router that's trying to give up the ghost and I've been having trouble staying connected.
I'm not sure about a Gameday game yet. Have to make sure I'm going to have the time but I wanted to run The Hyrdra's Fang Incident for TLAPD... I think Shifty said these were going to be merged?
Maedhros Nargothrond |
Apparently, the gameday starts on 19 September. I'd like to play the Hydra Fang incident with my tengu swashbuckler character, I haven't had the opportunity to play him yet.
Odo the Bold |
I just sent an email checking in. Since it's via email, I have no idea if she can get it more reliably than getting online with Paizo, but I thought it worth a shot.

Hey guys! It wasn't the router this time, it was RL. My daughter spiked a high fever Tues night and we had to go wait at the doctor's office for hours on Wed to be worked in. She is feeling better now, thankfully.
And then yesterday I was required to go to an orientation at the university I just transferred to that took nearly all day. I took my lappy, thinking I could work there, but they had us running around so much I never got the chance. Then by the time I got home my back and knee were so sore that I took a pain pill before settling down to work and promptly fell into a coma. >_<
I know it's been slow going in general, and I do apologize. I'm updating now!
bluedove |
You guys are sweet to be understanding... but I hate lagging us up because I got too busy and/or tired to complete the updates in a timely fashion. I'm going to try a new tactic.
It takes me some serious time and concentration to resolve a full combat round, so maybe if I do each a smidgen at a time as the actions roll in, it will work better. I saw someone's post to sign up for another game in the future and they were predicting they would be done with this one "long before" September and I nearly did a spit-take.
I will do my best to get this game wrapped before the Gameday, but we are only 2/5ths of the way done so far. =/

Depends on your group.
If people commit to posting 1/day then you are done for sure in 4 weeks.
As a GM if you are happy to post out of turn and then just reorder as you need it works a lot faster - for example, I started Risen from the Sands for two groups, the first (daily) group finished up two weeks ago. The other group is still half way.
The active group I was in managed to roll through the 23 scenarios of season 6 during the season (we are just tailing off 22 and 23 to finish, as Gencon got in the way).
People just need to post :)
Even if it is just cross chat - so it saves the GM waiting to see whether the player is acting or not.

People putting in 'spoiler' actions also speeds things up too, under some circumstances.

Eh... I'm not a fan of calling your action before the stage is set. The enemy's action can change the circumstances, sometimes completely negating what someone has posted.
That's a pretty impressive play record though, Shifty. You're saying you played through 23 scenarios with the same character in a pbp group in one year? Even at 4 weeks per... that should be 13 maximum unless I no longer understand math. =P
Wei Ji the Learner |
That was why I said 'under some circumstances'. Either that, or leaving reasonably detailed 'bot' instructions.
Whatever little things a player can do to make sure that even if they aren't posting, they aren't holding the action is helpful, right?
And... if a group had faster posting rates that'd be possible, I think?
Shifty |
We played 23 scenarios in just o a year, but the characters vary because of the tier.
We are now into S7, we also rolled two scenarios at a time and had no drama. 28 days a scenario on average, we are only over time because we took a month off.. :p
With regards to out of order, yeah things can negate - but I either apply the action to the next valid target (ie two enemies are side by side and one croaks) or take the general intent and if the action gets invalidated just refund it.
Style for style though, but the GM can only do so much - the players still need to give their signals in :p
All good fun :)
Some scenarios are also more complex than others, and four players (tends) to run faster than six.
(In the last 12 months I've played close to 50 sessions via PbP - I might need to slow down soon, I'm running out of scenarios!)
Shifty |
Yep, some groups love a relaxed pace - some groups are really crazy fast (Try DM Feral, PbP's in two weeks!) it's only when you get the slow and the fast in the same PbP groups things get challenging... :p
I've seen a few groups where the two sides were way out of whack, but thats not as bad in Scenario play as it becomes in AP land, in an AP it gets horrible.
Turan who walks the Steppe |
Ugh just got back from holidays. My holiday rental lacked internet so I was was offline for a whole week. That was rough now I have to try and catch up with my games.
Sorry about any hassles my awayness may have caused but it looks like there have been some rl issues on the other side of the table as well...
bluedove |
Ugh... last week of summer vacation here and very busy getting the kids set for school. For all the groups that are now exploring, please feel free to make stealth and perception rolls if you want. The next post will take some time to put together, expect in 12ish hours (after I sleep)
I do have to make the decision on what I'm running and sign up for the Gameday. Any requests? Shifty, do we do anything differently in the sign-up for TLAPD? Or is it just like making another gameday table?
bluedove |
Looks like they extended the deadline a smidgen, but I signed up to run 2 games.
#2: The Hydra's Fang Incident (1-5)
This is my TLAPD contribution! Yo-ho!
#33: Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible (1-5)
Regular on-theme Gameday table. ^_^
I might make some more tables if I have time and just run something I already own in that case.
Zoge Hane |
I'd be happy to try to get into ether of your games Gm, once we are done with the game I am rebuilding my character...I already have it done just need to complete the game to update ^_^
bluedove |
Thanks, gameday should be fun!
Excuse my delay, I've had a mountain of something to deal with every day lately. Today was the first day back to school and I am wiped. Updates for everyone tomorrow!
Caladin of the Endless Dream |
Will be attending PAX Prime until Tuesday. Here are some botting instructions as I will be most likely unavailable unless in the hotel. Which from experience is never.
Caladin
Provide support with Bow having Serene cast guidance on him every turn.
Use wand to try and save the lives of any dying companions.
Protect the civilians
bluedove |
Hey everyone, I've been out of town helping my mom out as she had to have another cardioversion. Came up kinda suddenly and thought I would have ample time and web access to work, but it didn't work out that way. Back home now (and mom is doing well, too) and playing catch up!
Aznive Demiral |
I'm on holiday for the coming week. Should have access to WiFi, or Wayfinder if all else fails. I think I'll be able to make a daily post, but they might be a bit shorter than regular. If I miss a day, please don't hold up the story on my account.
Botting instructions, if necessary:
- Unarmed strikes in combat, using flank for Sneak attack if possible. Nonlethal damage against any human/humanoid opponents, otherwise lethal damage.
- Allow others to make liberal use of my Wand of CLW, if the party suffers injuries.
- Use Diplomacy whenever possible, try to secure the assistance of any nobles we encounter.
- Some innocuous flirting with Ukou and Caladin, if the opportunity presents itself. :)
Qualif |
I'll get the young couple to post once I get home from work. There may or may not be a slight squabble between the two.
Turan who walks the Steppe |
Hey GM Bluedove!
I just noticed that Turan as built is not PFS legal due to the ruling that no Monk Archetypes can be combined with Unchained. I was not aware of this rule but none the less my character is illegal.
Good thing is this is the first game I have played with him as he was rebuilt from another Char.
I was thinking the best sollution to this predicament would likely be to not hand out a Chronicle sheet to me for this game. And I then build a legal character at 3XP.
Shifty |
Personally I would finish out the game and get the sheet as normal, and then adjust the character. Less probelmatic to fix the character than have a reporting issue of a session being logged and no sheet, and the character being out of synch with where it should be. You wouldn't be the first person to run afoul of the new class changes, so run with the easy fix.
