Baseless Propaganda!

Some of you have already received PMs about this. Here's a little peek at what I've been working on lately: Baseless Propaganda

Quote:

I'm brainstorming ideas for some kind of poster for different companies.

Ultimately I'd like to create a little collection, and hopefully the GW forums that they eventually set up will allow us to post images rather than just links; then I can create a thread showcasing the companies that were core participants in the early crowdforging days of PFO, not to mention spotlight myself a bit as an artist.

So start pitching me ideas, although don't get too specific: knowing me as I'm sure you do, you know I'll have more fun the more creative I can be with the final piece.

More explained at the link provided.

Awesome work, again. I'm half tempted to request a picture of bandits riding on the acts of nuclear bombs, shouting we're on the bomb's side!

Goblin Squad Member

Riding bombs on target is already published. I suspect you know that Dr. Strange.

Fixed your movie title....

Yes I'm aware of Slim Pickens, but I was referring to a specific comment that Blaeringr made about my approach in another thread.

I know the one you did for The Bloody Hand was amazing. Best of luck to you in this.

Updated EO poster with clearer text:

And here's what I've got for Golgotha:

Wow, These are really wesome.
Thank you, sir.

Goblin Squad Member

((These are amazing and I feel one of our first awards to a non-Golgothan, will be to you.))

I also noticed and was pleased by this. As the EO soldier lies on the battlefield with everything around him broken and destroyed, he turns to the light. Interpret it as you will, but have faith that the soldier of Golgotha needs no light. He merely grits his teeth in determination and suceeds, standing and facing away from the light.

Goblin Squad Member

Really digging these. Well done!

Goblin Squad Member

I agree. Now to discuss one for UNC. I am really excited to see what you come up with, that is once we decide what we want :-)

Goblin Squad Member

Can't wait to see how the one for Aeternum turns out =)

I think the TEO soldier has followed the light all along. The outcome of the battle he faced isn't really certain, what is certain is he faced great hardship, and continues to face into the light.

The Golgothan soldier could be coming from a battle, going into battle, or waiting impatiently on some cookies to finish baking. All we really know about him is that he's grim and has sensitive eyes.

Goblin Squad Member

A couple guys of varying races with swords drawn and lowered in one hand with tankards raised and cheering in the other.

Or is that a little too cliche for me? ;)

Can't take the light.

I noticed that the dead figures behind the EO soldier aren't humanoid.

Are they incorporeal? I don't see any figures back there. The weapons and banner look like those used by humanoids, though.

There is something directly over the "ean" of "Empyrean" that looks vaguely worm-like. Perhaps it's just the shadows, though...

The Serenity references made me extremely happy. As I said, that is how I interpretted the images. And I belive it expressed pleasure on both sides. If I insulted your organization by calling them noble and answering to a higher cause. Oh well.

Mal: I don't believe he does.

We probably agree more than we think we do... when I'm not being ornery.

I thought that looked like the remains of a fence, since there are a couple spots where the vertical lines extend above the horizontal arc.

I'm more of a compatibilist than a hard determinist, but I also think the difference between the two lies mostly in how one defines what constitutes a choice.

I'm sorry but The Order of the Bloody Hand's art is still the best imo.

Since we cannot actually build settlements yet, isn't everything technically baseless?

That's only because The Seventh Veil's hasn't been released yet :)

Of course, Vuzrut the Ogre Painter is my personal favorite.

Thanks Being.

I'd much rather remember Frazetta, who pioneered the genre.

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to see full scale naval combat, based on the size and location of the initial map area, it will be a long time before we see any massive bodies of water. Even Lake Encarthan, the only nearby body of water that seems large enough to provide much open water, is several times the length of the currently planned map away.

I was thinking of something on the West Sellen River that runs north-south on the western part of the map. It's not the same as a large lake or ocean, but that doesn't mean there can't be naval combat of some form or another on it one day. Some of the maps of the area seem to hint at a few hexes which would be on the west side of the river, so any westward expansion of the map could (hopefully) come with some limited form of naval combat.

As I remember the fly-over (and vaguely some posts) the banks of the West Sullen will be very steep most likely preventing character access to the water. That may or may not be true of the lake near Fort Riverwatch or Glow Water lake by Mosswater. See this map.

Weren't the landscape's elevations heavily exaggerated for that fly-over though?

Barges could be used for trade on the river, but waterways would or could impact hauling hugely if capacity is suitably large. Similarly with shipping traffic elsewhere.

Goblin Squad Member

Setting up a ferry as a PoI could be fun and profitable...until someone else attacks it to avoid the transport cost.

Wurner wrote:

I believe so, but even a factor of 10 multiplier will still leave a fairly steep slope to the river. I expect that there will be an invisible wall when the area open to exploration gets that far. I hope there will be no wall around the lakes as they are more easily contained as game space (as opposed to a wide open river). Lakes can keep from breaking immersion.

Barges = Trade = Piracy = Bluddwolf in his "Happy Place".
