Short commentary: it's a real problem related to rocketry (see the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsiolkovsky_rocket_equation ) even if the specifics are different. The weight of fuel has long been an issue with travel, though - in ye olden times the "fuel" was "human power" and "shoving more humans into a box" didn't really work that well past a certain point.
Do we all (without practice) make exaggerated mouth movements when pretending to be on mute?
I'm not sure, but we all seem to have similar postures for pride and shame:
