Differences between evil and chaotic?

Pathfinder Society

Hello.

What are some of the main things that you can and cannot do in Pathfinder Society that are chaotic and evil?

Thanks, have a good day.

Care to expand on the question? Title says difference between evil and chaotic and your asking what you can't do that is chaotic and evil. Two different things. Ideally just don't be disruptive and kill other people's fun.

Silver Crusade

Copy paste from the PFSRD

"Evil characters and creatures debase or destroy innocent life, whether for fun or profit.

Evil implies hurting, oppressing, and killing others. Some evil creatures simply have no compassion for others and kill without qualms if doing so is convenient. Others actively pursue evil, killing for sport or out of duty to some evil deity or master.

Chaotic characters follow their consciences, resent being told what to do, favor new ideas over tradition, and do what they promise if they feel like it.

Chaos implies freedom, adaptability, and flexibility. On the downside, chaos can include recklessness, resentment toward legitimate authority, arbitrary actions, and irresponsibility. Those who promote chaotic behavior say that only unfettered personal freedom allows people to express themselves fully and lets society benefit from the potential that its individuals have within them."

Thanks, Mikaze.

I don't think I understand the question. You can do anything of any alignment you want. However, actions that are egregiously evil run the risk of getting your character removed from play. There is no "list", because the alignment system is open ended, and unavoidably open to DM discretion.

Chaotic:

Not only CAN you do things that are chaotic, main and even faction missions often require them.

Breaking and entering
Assault
Destabalizing local governments
Undermining government control of strategic locations
Theft
Smuggling
Public Urination
Freeing slaves from their lawful owners
kidnapping
Streaking
murder (remember just because they're the bad guys and have it coming doesn't make it legal)
coercion
menacing
Urinating in public

Evil:

You can do evil stuff if you want to but it gets noted on your sheet. If another DM sees a long list of these and you do something evil again they drop your alignment down to evil and your character is effectively dead because you're unplayable.

If the evil thing you do is reaaaly evil, your alignment drops to evil and and you're effectively dead because your character is unplayable.

The exceptions here are faction missions, where unless you are a paladin or a cleric, PFS considers the fault to lie with the person who sent you to do the mission, so its not an evil act for you. You can always complete your faction mission even if its probably evil (ie, ripping someone's tongue out to punish him for squeeling on the mo.. association of legitimate businessmen) Just don't use it as an excuse to go beyond the mission.

I needed to kill this person so i killed him works just fine. I needed to kill this person so i burned down the orphanage he was hiding in is not.
