August Subscriptions!

August is a big month and I want to have the information up for August subscriptions well ahead of time since there is so much going on!

We have two separate subscription dates in August.

Comics for those subscribers who choose to "ship as soon as possible"

• Estimated Auth (order spawning): August 2nd
  
• Estimated ship start: August 5th
  
• Estimated ship finish: August 9th

Paizo Subscriptions, Battles and Comics for people choosing "hold for monthly"

• Estimated Auth (order spawning): August 8th
  
• Estimated ship start: August 12
  
• Estimated ship finish: August 23

You might notice there is a two week timeframe for shipping the main August shipment. This is due to part of our warehouse staff being at Gen Con and part because there is just so much coming out in August.

Speaking of Gen Con, subscribers who are going to Gen Con 2013 have the option of picking up their subscriptions at the show! If you would like to pick up your subscriptions at Gen Con, just visit your My Subscriptions Page no later than July 30th at 2pm. If I am at the end of the ship list, August 23, then I will get the card game after the retail stores, August 21, for PACG?

To get PACG fastest, what should I do, OLGS, FLGS, or subscription?

Really hard to say. If you subscribe there is a chance it could go out at the very end which may be on or after the retail release date. Or it could go out on the first day we ship subscriptions. If you rely on your FLGS, they should have it by release date if they have placed an order from their distributor, but of course I can't guarantee they'll have it since that goes outside our control (and is mostly up to the store and their distributor).

Its really a tough call if your only measuring stick is when you'll get it.

Updated the Original Post. The Goblins! #1 comic has not yet reached our warehouse and we are unsure if it will arrive so we can authorize tomorrow, August 1st. I'm waiting to hear back with more information to see if we can get better dates.

In the gaming hobby industry, Wednesday release dates are the norm (because that's the day new comic books are released), but the book trade likes Tuesday release dates (because that's the day new books, CDs, and DVDs are released), so bookstores usually use the following Tuesday as their date.

It doesn't guarantee that a particular store will have it. It is the date that they can start selling it if they have it.

No; to pick up your subscription we will be checking photo IDs. Additionally, you must have set your subscription to GenCon pick up prior to July 30th.

Quick question, as the authorization is today for some of the stuff, but it doesn't start ship until later, will the items that authorize today, would the pdf's be available for download (for example, I'm subscribed for the AP and core, so Wrath of the Righteous and Mythic would be what I'm getting this month.)

You get access to subscription related PDF's when your order ships, not when they do the initial authorization, sorry.

Alright folks, I started the order spawning for the August subscriptions and got this for a status update Estimated time remaining: 7026 minutes, 25 seconds So yeah, it might take a while for everyone's August Subscription orders to generate ;)

I cant open subforums to start new threads at the moment (so I've flagged this). However, I wondered Sara if you're going to keep us up to date with Gen Con announcements somewhere over the weekend? I appreciated the up-to-the-minute accounting you gave at last year's paizocon (I think). Makes it seem a little closer. :)

So uh, my subscription was showing up as to be authorized yesterday earlier, but now it's showing Wrath #1 and Mythic Adventures as part of next month's shipment and to be authorized on the 12 of September.

Happens to me all the time, it's simply a display error while they are running the authorizations. It will make sense once you get your email!

So by "order spawning" is that the charge notice or the actual shipping notification? Right now my subscriptions page looks like it did last month with my August and September subs seemingly merged onto one order.

Don't mind me I'm just anxious for the download to become available.

Order spawning is neither the charge nor shipping notification. Here is some of the text from mine....

Your order will 'ship' when you pick it up...so it depends on what day you make it to the dealer hall.

I'll be on the registers at the convention so I probably won't have much time for posting stuff, however, like usual, we'll be doing the convention live blogging on the paizo blog. If you're on facebook, Jenny, Erik Mona and myself will likely be trying to update the Paizo facebook page as well.

The auth is indeed still running. It was still going when I left last night and crashed sometime after I left. I've restarted it today. The past few months it has been crashing part way through as we are loading it up with more products than we ever have in the past. Gary's looking into the code that handles auth/spawning to see if he can prevent this in the future as having it stretch over two days is causing the display errors and confusion.

It this context, crashed just means "stopped prematurely." Don't worry: it's not doing bad things; it's just not doing anything.

The auth/order spawning is done!

Some things of note: the comics didn't go into Gen Con pick up orders. I'm going to be adding those in this afternoon.

The Gen Con orders didn't charge, they just spawned the order and authorized so I'm looking into when the charge and PDFs will happen.

If you notice any other weirdness, please let me know!

Issues with specific orders (ie failed payment methods or canceling subs, etc) should go into their own thread.

So not cool. It says you took my money for my order, but I have not PDFs. Major sad face.

Brent, what you are seeing is an authorization. The authorization process lets your bank know we expect to be processing an order. It verifies that funds are available and the payment method is working (not expired, etc). Most banks treat authorizations as a pending charge and put a hold on the funds. We have not settled the charge, but your bank is holding the funds aside as it assumes we will be settling the charge soon. When we ship your order, we will charge your payment method.

Because of the longer than usual timeframe for shipping subscriptions (Aug 12-23rd) some customers may note that they authorizations expire before we ship the order. In those cases, the authorization for funds may appear on your account, expire and then reappear when the order ships.
