I'm in the process of refilling my pregen binder, and I was planning to go to the NPC codex to get the full line of L1 Iconics, now that they are legal for play. I was stymied by the layout, as they are, for cost reasons, condensed in such a way as to not span pages in a logical way for printing individuals.

Has anyone taken the time to reformat them for printing?

Nope, but I suppose I could.

I got some. Please stand by...

Edit: found them!
Level 1 NPC Codex Pregens
Level 7 NPC Codex Pregens

Please note:
Level 1 pregens have the same traits as the official ones. For classes that were not included before, I chose appropriate traits.
Level 7 pregens have no traits, as they are cloned 100% from the NPC codex. Did not include the classes we already have level 7 pregens for, since they are probably slightly better due to having traits.

Ok, who is using these pre-gens? In my local area they tend to be used almost exclusively by newer players. I was always of the mind that one of the four basic pre-gens was the best choice for newer players. Are you finding that new players are successful playing one of the advanced classes?

The barbarian and sorcerer Pregens I find are easier for new players than Valeros (no TWF to deal with) and Ezren (no preparing spells, more than 2 spells).

Are the Level 7 pre-gens from the NPC Codex legal?

CRobledo, it's my experience that the Level 1 Barbarian pre-gen is awful, because she's carrying around a sword that imposes a -2 penalty for her attack bonus. Over and over again, players get frustrated by that.

GM: What's your attack bonus?
New Player: +3.
GM: Wait a second. Your strength is ... ?
New Player: Um, 18.
GM: That's a +4 bonus. And a 1st-level barbarian has a +1 BAB. That should be +5.
Me, sitting across the table: She takes a -2 penalty because the sword is oversized.
New Player: Could I just use a greatsword?
GM: If you have enough gold to buy one. You can't change out equipment for a pre-gen.

Very frustrating.

The 1st and 7th level iconic characters found on pages 274-297 may be used in place of the downloadable pregenerated characters found on Paizo.com. The 12th level iconics are not permitted for PFS play.

I find it is good idea to have a binder of pregens for both newbs and old schoolers, especially at cons. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.
