Recycled older idea for a barbarian feat and passed 750 words threshold. A few words of fluff under the new rage powers header should be added pushing it even more...
Three more totems (each with lesser/regular/greater power) on metaphorical design board. I might even manage to complete that before Saturday despite other things I have to do... If I don't I'll send incomplete draft prior to flight and, circumstances allowing, I'll return to finishing it after settling on the other side of the continent.

See!
Sounds great Drejk, look forward to it.
Hope your move goes as smooth as moves can...
It's not move as such but a three month travel (two to four month actually, depending upon circumstances) for a job - no fuss about furniture, no fuss about apartment sale (but lots of stress about leaving it for three months - the last time I was away for so long I was a small kid, the apartment belonged to my parents and the world was big, bright, happy place full of kind surprises, then I grew older and the world became grimmer and surprises became much less kind).
Now I estimate that completing the remaining two sets of totems allow me to hit 1300 words... Either a very short archetype or a few more totem powers would be in place to fill that. Will think about that.

Or some more Midgard Dark Magic flavor text! Even though I'm an archetype nut I do love good theme text to inspire and expand concepts, campaigns and plots.
Case in point, I received a query in the past few days regarding an article that immediately upon reading just the query I was both intrigued and inspired and wrote back to the auhor with three ideas I had for fleshing it out. Was very hard not to crowd them/their concept with all of *my* ideas. That's how much I liked and was inspired by the concept.

I wanted to submit another adventure as well to the effort but there is no real "dark magic" in it. There is however an aberrant creature, a dark theme and if used as a brief side trek or intro session can help fuel a larger campaign to destroy aberrations. I can trim it up and get it to you by the deadline if you want it. I just emailed you a moment ago.
I'm really excited for the mag to come out, especially w/all the great talent looking to submit!

Hey, do we have a target release date for this bad boy?
I know OSW is dealing with some serious brush fire issue at the moment, but I was just curious :)
I'm thinking definitely by Christmas. That should give me plenty of time to get through layout, sourcing art and cartography and working out an advertising model.

A bit of dark magic on teleportation
Yes, a tangent. Possibly even a dimensional jump.

Now I want to start a new thread, "1001 Teleportation Mishaps."

Sorry for the late reply folks.
Thanks to all who submitted for this first issue of Yggdrasil. Dark Magic proved to be an inspiring theme and there are some truly dark and twisted minds out there. :)
Early estimate is more than two dozen entries - I have three adventures of varying lengths (YAY!); a bunch of archetypes; some very dark NPCs; some spells; a small Bestiary (from various contributors); magic equipment, some locations and even some recipes! I have a few outstanding submissions and/or partial submissions I'm waiting on, including some fiction and a magic shoppe! All in all I'm very happy with the standard and the breadth of Midgard lore and love.
I'm twisting and twisting arms, tentacles and pseudopods where applicable for some more content as we speak, and I have secured a couple folks as regular columnists and hoping for at least one if not two others.
Status Update.
I have some school assessments due this Sunday, and my exams finish on the 22nd of Nov, so editing is a bit slow right now.
.
After that I'll concentrate on layout and editing with gusto. I am still aiming for a December release.
I'm getting art organized as I can - some is already in. Cartography is a bit trickier, if anyone knows some friendly and generous cartographers get them to contact me at:

Does Midgard have ratfolk? I might have another Bestiary entry if so. If yes, any particular locations where they are more common? All I found in the campaign setting book was reference to a Mouse King in Zobeck, but he/she is an Animal Lord.

Oceanshieldwolf |

Doh! Missed this thread somehow, but I would like to be able to help, either in this issue, or the next. Wayfinder is nice, but it's only two issues per year, so I'm looking to extend myself.
Is there anything that requires proofreading, statblock checking, or fleshing out?
I will send you a PM...

Oceanshieldwolf |

Yes, Zobeck does have a Mouse King (who rules the ratfolk as well).
But Pathfinder already has a Bestiary 3 entry for ratfolk. So I think most people would use those stats.
Might be fun to expand on that bare-bones sort of monster entry with some more rat-tastic culture, magic, and gear, though.
Echoing what Wolfgang said, a Midgardian flavoring of Ratfolk would be fantastic. I'm really excited by the Midgardian flavor in these entries...
If you have something hugely distinct from the rat folk entry in B3 then send that along.

As an occasional Warhammer player, with overflowing cases of Skaven, that pleases me greatly. But, however tempting it may be, to port over their particular flavor, I realise GW is very protective of their IP, and Scarred Lands already published some obvious (D&D3.0) analogues of the plague monks, gutter runners, etc.
How much can be done with ratfolk may be a matter for those with better grasp of IP law than me, which is a shame, since Zobeck would be a perfect backdrop for Clan Skryre-inspired clockwork and radioactive steampunk lunacy.
How much filing needs to be done on those serial numbers, before you have a concept that can be considered open?

![]() |

Great question which probably requires an IP lawyer to answer properly. But clearly the concept of "ratfolk" predates GW and exists in things like Gamma World and SF from back in the day.
A fanzine like Yggdrasil may have more leeway than, say, Bestiary 3, but I'd still say you want to file off ALL the serial numbers and invent a new kind of ratfolk that is compatible with B3.
Besides, the dwarves and kobolds sort of have a lock on the clockwork bits of Zobeck. It might be better to pursue the spying/thievery/alchemical side of things, or make the ratfolk servants of a new demon, or allies of the darakhul, or give them speed and poisoned needles.

I think the issue for many contributors (and this has been mentioned for Wayfinder, as well), is that we aren't short of ideas.
We have ideas aplenty, but the difficulty is keeping track of what has already been published, in the Paizo books or 3PP.
I don't want to waste time reinventing the wheel, or risk accusations of unoriginality.
For Wayfinder 8, I had a list of effects I wanted to embed into ships' figureheads, but thought I'd best check the other seafaring products on the market. Lo and behold, most had already been done, and some several times. So the 2-page article I'd planned in my head got stripped down to one page, featuring the effects I'd not seen elsewhere.
Or am I overthinking? Should I just fire every idea at the wall and see what brain-chunks stick? If there are multiple iterations of similar feat/spell/item/creature/classes, born from parallel development, so be it. Let the public decide which survives?

Oceanshieldwolf |

@Snorter - I prefer the latter. I don't see the harm personally in visiting ideas already expressed by others, I just look to see if there remains unexplored conceptual territory OR if I want to express something already extant differently.
Oh, and yes I got your PM, just haven't had time to reply as yet. Accounting exam tomorrow that I do not relish. Gaaaaaah.
